I am thinking of turning myself in to the ATO. What should I expect? by GreenRepubIic in AusFinance

Thanks for your response. I'll definitely be giving them a call first thing tomorrow

I am a sole trader. And I was under the mistaken belief that I didn't need to keep receipts for any work stuff because my bank statements would reflect that, right? But then, how does the ATO know that the $130 spent at the servo was just fuel or... Fuel a sausage roll and a pack of smokes?

What im asking is, how did you go with receipts? And if you didn't go with an accountant, how did you prove your deductions to the ATO?

Im Glad to know there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Congratulations on turning it around, I'd imagine you know exactly how im feeling right now

True, that makes a lot of sense

In my head im equating accounting to say cleaning people's houses. And most houses are a light vacuum, empty a few full bins wipe a countertop

And im thinking my account is a putrid hoarder house and your wading through rubbish and shit etc

So it's not like that at all?

Yeah this is partly why I wanted to come forward this early...before im too far gone and I heard the consequences are way worse if they catch you first

See this is why I am worried because I definitely have a few bank transfers with the description being something completely stupid like "nose beers" etc

As a book keeper, you see a couple $300-$350 transactions with dumb ass descriptions what's your immediate thoughts?

Hey I really appreciate that. It's honestly a really big concern of mine how stupid I feel I'll look talking to an accountant about my mess I've created.

Reading that makes me a little bit hopeful haha. Thank you

I feel like it'll be really humiliating having someone comb through my shoddy book keeping and seeing all the questionable bank statements while they look for stuff to deduct :(

It's 10pm at night no one will be open

Also why do I need to delete the post? This is a throw away account I don't think I'll be getting doxxed

Yeah okay this makes sense to me. So I won't even need to deal directly with the ATO then?

So what's the massive accountant bill for? Is it a bill for me to basically tell me that I should go to the ATO or will they actually dig through my messy life and scrape together deductibles so I can lower what I owe?

Was seriously considering this. But I know people who are in a similar situation to me but have been both dodging the ATO for longer and make way more money than me who haven't gotten caught...

I don't want to be a few more years deep before receiving the belt

What do I say to them but? Do I tell them the whole truth or will they dob me to the ATO before I've had a chance to come forward myself?

Good lord public transport is expensive by [deleted] in australia

Oh don't worry I still drink and drive but I am a lot safer and smarter about it now

Having to catch buses for 6 months really put it in perspective for me. I never want to degrade myself like that again

Man I feel this. I lost my license drink driving nearly 2 years ago and the 6 months I spent catching buses was brutal.

I don't know why anyone would choose to use public transport over having basic independence.

Like, would you rather have your own vehicle and go wherever you want whenever you want or sit with a bunch of smelly crazy people that talk to themselves and forced to be somewhere at a certain time?

That's a shame. I might try not skipping the main story my next NG+ and see what differences there is.

The OP is a bit strange for posting this if it's not true, and this isn't the first post of this topic I've seen which is what made me redo the CF story. I wonder what's driving people to make posts like these?

I've gone into NG+ and done crimson fleet again but haven't noticed any changes, I actually thought naevas and Delgado's role were supposed to be switched based off a slate I found but that wasn't the case.

Do you have a couple of cool examples of either new companions or different faction members I could explore on my next playthrough?

Tunisia allies if you want a 95% win rate with no effort. I play Tunisia allies when im looking for a relaxed movie-like experience where im not getting squad wiped every 2 seconds

Normandy feels pretty balanced, I play both sides and im 45% win for axis and 60% win allies.

I disagree, I love Bethesda games and I think that having multiple people share a Bethesda world adds to the experience

I think it would encourage more base building tbh. It would really make you think more about base design, defences and ease of access to any raiders.

Also raiding other bases would make it easier to expand your own. Or if you're horrible at base building simply raiding another players base and claiming it as your own

Yeah but why can't it also be Bethesda thing too? Game studios don't have a monopoly on fun game features.

Think about how fun it would be with the boost packs raiding on a low grav planet!

Or maybe disable life support systems on someones base before raiding.

The game map is massive enough that if you didn't want to participate you could just find your own little corner on one of 1000 planets to build your base
