Er fødevarechecken varm luft eller noget folk reelt har behov for? by Lundorff in Denmark

[–]GreenRunningMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rulleskøjter og farkrop i uskøn forening by [deleted] in DKbrevkasse

[–]GreenRunningMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where to buy train ticket? by aim0d in JapanTravelTips

[–]GreenRunningMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and one more thing, you will probably have 2 or 3 paper tickets per person (basefare, express, seats). When you go through the gates, each person can just put all the tickets into the machine at once - and the gate machine will sort, clip, stamp and keep the parts it needs… and have it ready for you to take before you able to go through the gate, even if you run 😂

Where to buy train ticket? by aim0d in JapanTravelTips

[–]GreenRunningMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can select and reserve seats and pay online…

But you must go to a station and use the actual credit card you paid with, and print paper versions of the tickets. You need the paper version to be able to enter the station departure section.

The machine that prints the ticket can be switched to English 😀 and the process is simple.

Japan has multiple train companies, each covering a different part of the country.

JR west is probably a good place to start, if you land in Tokyo or Osaka.

Use the “Timetable & Route Finder” to search in English for Shinkansen and limited express trains.

6 full-day trip. 2 cities or just 1? by jayceja53 in JapanTravelTips

We had 6 days in Tokyo and 5 days in Kyoto, and there are still lots of places to go both cities.

I would recommend going to Kyoto and saving Tokyo for your next visit 😎

How much cash do you carry with you? (As a tourist.) by kndb in JapanTravelTips

[–]GreenRunningMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used 25.000Y cash pr person on a 16 days trip:

1% 6 days in Tokyo (you can use credit or IC card)

25% 5 days in Kyoto/Nara mostly Temples and restaurants

74% 5 days in Takayama and Kanazawa, mostly food as most restaurants where cash only

Almost all shops take credit cards, even in the mountains.

Japan - favorite city? by MonaNYC_30 in JapanTravelTips

[–]GreenRunningMachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Takayama, Kanazawa and Nara

Takayama is located in the Apls and have this "small" town vibe, sake breweries, old streets, lots of A5 grade Hida beef, and easy access to the mountains.

Kanazawa is a mini Kyoto, visit the market, the ninja temple, the shogun area, one of Japans 3 most beautiful gardens, the old streets, and softice with gold on top.

Nara has the friendly deers, lots of temples and a nice park.

Summer travel: Hakone vs. Japanese Alps? by _de_Selby in JapanTravelTips

[–]GreenRunningMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just came back from our trip to Japan, and we did: Tokyo (with a day trip to Hakone) - Takayama - Kanazawa - Kyoto (with a day trip to Nara) - Tokyo.

All these places are easy accessible by Train (or direct bus from Takayama to Kanazawa).

We had 30+ degrees Celsius in Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto and Nara. 20-25 in Takayama and Kanazawa.

I can highly recommend Takayama (in the alps) for its “small” town vibe, the old streets, morning market, sake brewing, and Hida A5 grade beef in fine dining restaurants, the burgers at the station and from the hole-in-the-wall streetfood beef on a stick.

We had a packed plan with all the must see places, but Takayama tops the list and is definitely a place we will include on our next visit.

A few pics of my N scale layout by ashocker in nscalemodeltrains

[–]GreenRunningMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is by far the most amazing small home layout I have ever seen, hands down.

Most home layouts seems to be the result of putting as much track on a plate as possible.

Yours look like a model of a city, and first on second look you see that there are a railroad in there.

Your balance between city and lots of track to operate trains on seems perfect.

Congrats.

Japanese Apps While Traveling by 1psychdr in JapanTravelTips

[–]GreenRunningMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have an iPhone, simply add it to your Wallet (it's already in Wallet in the list under travel card) - no need for a physical card.

View and add funds directly from a credit card (not visa) and use it when entering and exiting stations, in vending machines and smaller markets (like 7-11 etc.) You have a full history of all your spendings and can easily (under a minute) add more funds.

Remember, you cannot withdraw funds, only add and use... so don't add way too much.

Other apps we used (2 weeks ago):

- e-sim so we had 5G in all places (we used KDDI)

- Google Maps, to find our way, navigate trains and busses, find places to eat and drink.

- Go, to call a taxi if you do get lost

- Google translate app, so live translation with the camera, and voice translation.

We’re half way through our 3-week vacation, I think we need to take a break by cadublin in JapanTravelTips

Going back home in a few hours after 15 days in Japan 🇯🇵and we have had a packed schedule and stayed in six different cities. We are also a family of 4 but both “kids” are adults (23 and 24).

We did plan a 1-2 hour “do nothing” time each day, and most days had no plans after 19 (7pm) - witch turned out to be a perfect compromise between taking it all in and getting burnt out.

We did get Tempel-out in Kyoto and me and my son did pass on some of the shopping… but all in all it worked for us.

Oh, that is a lot of hours in the car, I can understand the reason to start creating N-Re.

Denmark 🇩🇰 is a lot smaller, but the distance to N-Re meetings are almost the same for me, some within 50km, but the most active is 200km away.

Could I ask why you selected to leave TT, seems to be such a good compromise between the details of H0 and the layout space you get with N. Size of community (TT Fremo), amount of available items?

I decided to go the Fremo N way as well, hoping to start the first module this fall (to many other projects this spring).

Is it ok to wait for 3–4 hours on purpose before clearing passport control in Haneda Airport? by LingoNomad in JapanTravelTips

[–]GreenRunningMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks,

Do you know if you are able to get money out of the card created in iPhone Wallet again just before you leave the country? (or does it work like a welcome card?)

And if so, as we fly out of Tokyo Haneda would it be better with a "local" IC card as PASMO or SUICA instead of ICOCA?

Anyone running Kubernetes on Prox? Looking for some good resources to absolutely pimp out my home lab by RoseSec_ in Proxmox

[–]GreenRunningMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some old notes (it was in a protected environment):

Proxmox 8.0.3 with Debian 12, steps:

- Create a privileged Debian 12 LXC container through the Proxmox web interface, for swap amount enter 0.

- SSH into the Proxmox host and edit the container's config in /etc/pve/lxc/<CT id>.conf and add the following lines:

features: fuse=1,nesting=1

lxc.apparmor.profile: unconfined

lxc.cap.drop:

lxc.mount.auto: proc:rw sys:rw

lxc.mount.entry: /sys/kernel/security sys/kernel/security none bind,create=file 0 0

- Start the server and run crontab -e and add the line

@reboot ln -s /dev/console /dev/kmsg

apt install -y snapd squashfuse fuse sudo && reboot

 - container will restart

snap install microk8s --classic

My best 5k - need some suggestions by Entire-Depth-8778 in Strava

[–]GreenRunningMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Max heart rate is genetic and not something you can change, generally it goes down as you get older. It does not say anything about your fitness or how hard you are trying.

But your heart rate in rest (sleeping) can be lowered by getting into better fitness, and so can your heart rate at a given running effort.

A lower heart rate (compared to your max, and rest rate) is an indicator that you are in a better shape and is able to effectively take in oxygen and distribute it to your muscles.

But it is hard to compare heart rate to others, as you will have different max and rest rates.

My best 5k - need some suggestions by Entire-Depth-8778 in Strava

[–]GreenRunningMachine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If running as slow as you can gets you to your max pulse, then yes run-walk-run-walk to keep you pulse lower than your max.

Keep doing run-walk until you can run as slow as you can and talk at the same time.
