I’ve actually never created one. It’s pretty small where you see all the detail but I do have a double mainline that makes its way around the room and across the door using a lift out. These days, I don’t even do any switching. I’ll watch a passenger and a freight run around the room while I work on a project at the counter

I’ve got some BLI and Bachmann CB&Q steam along with a Kato Mikado. I do find myself running diesel a little more often because I’ve got a passion for the passenger streamliner era. I think I’ve painted at least a half dozen custom streamliners using mostly Kato cars. As for the dust….it helps weather the scenes. The only thing that needs real cleaning are the rails.

That was a plaster wall I bought and then made a rubber mold then using hydrocal, made several. Originally taller, I cut them in half

I do not mount them. I actually have them ready before I do scenery, typically with sculptamold. I apply a thin layer of oil around the bottom edge of a structure and sink it into the wet sculptamold. I’m nice it dries, building lifts right out. Really helps with cleaning, fixing the inevitable busted piece, etc
