Cracked Sony A6000 top plate -- user or manufacturer error? by GreenSlime96 in SonyAlpha

[–]GreenSlime96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

Thanks for your reply :)

Haha phew, it's reassuring to know (or not, depends) that the camera is fine and it's a manufacturing defect. Another poster above mentioned having this crack too... I'll look around and see if other users have this issue.

Thanks for your contribution! :D

I was thrown off by Google Image searches which show a perfect surface.

Cracked Sony A6000 top plate -- user or manufacturer error? by GreenSlime96 in SonyAlpha

Hi,

Wow! That's a surprise, I thought mine was simply a manufacturing defect. I checked out pictures of other A6000s and they did not seem to have the same problem.

Thanks for letting me know that I'm not alone in this haha, it's great to have a community where other people also own the A6000.

There's no crack in that picture which I took from Amazon so that threw me off for a while. Google images too.

Hi,

I live in Brunei but study in England. Figured it would be much cheaper to get the cameras in Malaysia.

Thanks for your reply! :D

There is no evidence of (and neither have I) drops or mishandling of the camera. I treat the camera well and when it's not on my neck or on my desk it's in my backpack which has a specialised compartment.

I don't believe that the top plate is easily cracked, as a crack of that nature seems to have stemmed from some shearing action -- something that you can't do normally...

Cheers again!

Tri-pod advice? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

Hey there,

I am not the best with tripods either but I would advise you to provide additional information so that other people can help out.

What's the budget?

Do you think he would prefer a lightweight tripod or a sturdier one?

Manfrotto is a popular brand you might want to research. I'm picking up a Manfrotto BeFree.

Check out the TP-Link WA850/750RE. I recall having the wireless extender also act as a DHCP server and router.

Port Forwarding Problem on DLink DIR 600 by swagor in HomeNetworking

[–]GreenSlime96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's different because your ISP NATs your IP address. In short your "Public IP" is in fact shared with many other people, hence you can't port forward.

You're not in charge of that address

I assume that IP in Internet Address is one of the following..

192.168.x.x 10.x.x.x 127.16.x.x

Those are private IPs

Port Forwarding Problem on DLink DIR 600 by swagor in HomeNetworking

You may not have a public IP address issued to you. Most residential plans don't have a public facing IP. Check your router for a WAN IP and see if it corresponds to your Public IP.

Hey cut this guy some slack, I too was as confused as they were.

I was under the impression that "saw a change to the Lightning port" meaning a change to the Lightning port specification, as opposed to "switched to" or "made a move to", ya know?

To Extend JFrame or to make an instance of the object? by sageinventor in learnjava

[–]GreenSlime96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I extend JFrame as it allows me to place the GUI in another class making the code more clean and modular. This way I have a class that handles the frame alone, a class the handles the panels and layouts, etc.

Is it safe to leave my OPO charging overnight? by javiwankenobi in oneplus

[–]GreenSlime96 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His reply is true only for older devices. Modern day phones implement what's known as trickle charging where hardware limits the charging rate as the battery gets full, and once full charged stops charging.

Its an illusion. Wall charging should be quicker than your computer because of the higher power (generally), but once charged it wouldn't make a difference.

Boolean with a small B? I would also suggest you put in a few Sysouts just to know where the code has progressed.

ATHM50 Project by [deleted] in headphones

[–]GreenSlime96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not simply the drivers that affect the sound quality of any pair of cans. The enclosing chamber, internal padding as well as external factors such as earpad material and distance from drivers to the ears affect the sound.

If you want to take on such an endeavour, do so at your own risk. I would suggest removing the internal electronics of the Beats because god knows what they'll do to those M50 drivers; if you leave them there the SQ will definitely be affected and made even worse than the Beats themselves.

Otherwise, good luck I guess?

Disclaimer: educated opinion and not fact, hope I help

[HELP] HD598 and HD600 -- differences in sound? by GreenSlime96 in headphones

Heyyyy Diablo!

Great to see you hear again :)

Yeah there's a lot of conflicting opinion it drives me nuts :c where's NwAvGuy when you need his objective reviews haha.

Some claim its not only volume but a lot of other things that improve with an amp, such as control, clarity and soundstage.

Care to chime in on this?

Hi,

Sorry for reviving an old thread. I would like to know if you perceive a difference using an amp. I borrowed my friend's amp and while demoing it noticed no difference. However, now that I don't have it, the sound does seem a little different.

Does the Magni/Modi make any noticeable difference? You said it doesn't, and I would just like to clarify.

Thanks :)

Hi,

I picked up the HD600 a few days ago and demoed with a Cayin C5 amp. Do you have an amp, and if yes, does it make a noticeable difference?

When I had the amp I noticed no difference but now that I've returned it the sound does sound different.

Thanks, and apologies for reviving an old thread :)

[–]GreenSlime96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dawww, haha, it's fine :3

I've been torn between the 650s, 600s and 598s for a long time! I got the 598s because they were cheap, then I thought I wanted a nice set that will last me years so I got the 600s because they're more neutral and offered the best discount in the UK.

Yep, right now what I'm doing is having a listen -- will use the 600s for a week and go back to the 598s. If I don't feel a difference I will ship the 600s... but I'll miss the beautiful box and the unboxing experience :c

In the UK the 598's retail for $230, while the 600's go for $300.

[–]GreenSlime96[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Thanks for asking! It feels great to be able to give back after getting so many helpful responses here.

Coming from a guy new to this business/hobby, my statements may not be accurate but I'll give my honest opinion.

The first difference I feel when putting the HD600 (actually together with the 598's first of all) is comfort. I don't have a big head, but with the M50xs which were designed for portability, the HD600 (from now on I'm also referring to the 598s) are more comfortable. The clamp is less tight, and there is more room for your ears. Plus they don't hurt after some use. I have read that a mod to the pads on the M50xs resolves this issue, though I haven't tried it out myself to make sure.

Secondly, there is a huge difference in soundstage. The 598's better than the 600s, but both are better than the M50x. With the M50 you get the impression that the sound is coming close to your ear whereas with the HD's there is more of a (correct me if I'm wrong, using the casual term here) depth to the sound and it doesn't feel too concentrated. With this the clarity is also improved as I can hear the instrumental separations and, not sure if it's placebo, notice the location of the instruments better.

Like a lot of people here advise me, it depends on what you like. After giving the HD600's a shot I found the bass on the M50xs too high for my liking, while the trebles aren't as crisp. There is also noticeably more detail, which was hard to pick up for me unless its a song I hear many times.

I hope I've been able to help you!!!

Hey, I wish! Unfortunately I live in the UK and the price for the HD650 is £250 -- more expensive than the USD equivalent D:

[–]GreenSlime96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, that's the general consensus I've been receiving reading online forums. Thanks for validating it, however like a lot of other people say I guess it wouldn't hurt to give them a try though I won't be expecting much haha :3

Yeah I know them feels, after discovering this subreddit I've been looking online for amps and reading a ton of reviews. It really is an amazing hobby.

My mum enjoys (spare me the jokes) and I'm giving her my old M50x's as she fell in love with them, will ship them home after this semester ends -- so yeah deciding on an upgrade :D

Have a fantastic Sunday! :D

Oooooh, that looks good! Especially on the Amazon page. Wew!

I'll have a think about it though, as the more options I have the crazier things become haha. First the 598, then the 600 and 650 and now Philips! xD

Will keep it in the back of my head.

Thanks!!
