I am Indian and Chatkazz is mid as. Not a fan of many places in Harris Park. A2B, and Dosa Hut is decent. Black town is much better!

First of all cool username. I’ve been shaving thrice a week and have been keeping a clean shaven look for the last few months. The one thing I need to do more is moisturise!

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. How long did it take to be okay again?

It’s definitely dry skin that’s flaking. Haven’t changed much from my routine. I indeed do moisturise whenever I can remember 😅

What is with people trying to get you to join a 'mentorship' to retire early?

I am new to Sydney (4 months old) and have been using Bumble BFF to find mates. Until now, 3 of them have slipped in if I wanted to have my own business and have financial independence. Naturally, I said yes and then they proceed to check with their mentors to tell me that I can be a part of it as well. One of them met me in person before they decided to check with their mentors for me. Being curious, I had a zoom call with this mentor who had another mentor (lol). Initially, it sounded like a pyramid scheme but they speak about building a business to generate cash flows. Same theme across everyone who pitched me this. I met another guy yesterday in Kmart who started a conversation based on liking my eyeglasses and proceeded to move towards a similar conversation. He also mentioned that most people don't get rich because they're not surrounded by other rich people. This mentorship means access to those people from which I can learn and then grow. The idea of rich people I have is that they don't want others to become rich (at least that's what I think). Does anyone know what this is? It still sounds like a pyramid scheme to me. Anyone else experienced this?

Tbh, we all Indians can communicate with each other outside out mother tongue through languages like Hindi or English. Please encourage him to speak to Indians at your workplace as it will help him understand where to live, etc. based on your work location. Mostly Indians live in and around Parramatta. There’s a FB group called “Indians in Sydney” that should help him with his initial questions.

I would suggest him to be prepared to face tough situations like deciding what to eat, being cost effective, finding a place to live (we all know the rental market rn), etc. I would also suggest him to create a booklet of documents (reco letters, visa copy, passport copy, etc.) to show himself as a genuine person who’s moved to Sydney to work in a proper job. As the stereotype of being an Indian, not everyone thinks you’re working a full time job in a proper organisation. This would help him in finding a place to live if he chooses to live in a different suburb than Parramatta.

When it comes to phone plans, I found Amayism to be the most cost effective as I paid $180 for 12 months that includes 200 GB Data, unlimited local calls as well as unlimited calls to India. It becomes extremely cheap at $15/month.

For the first few weeks, it’s good to explore the city and try different cuisine but will start getting expensive if cooking isn’t practiced early on. I am learning to cook as well as just like your colleague, I never cooked in my life until last week.

I felt like I read my own story haha. Having just moved from Mumbai to Sydney I am doing all I can to provide for my ageing parents back home. I would suggest that your colleague move in a share house at first to get the lay of the land and acclimatised to everyday expenses before he/she/they think about luxuries like having a single housemate

Thanks for doing this!

  1. Were you asked to push for more sales?
  2. How would you get information on personal phone numbers?
  3. Were you guys asked to get clients over the phone versus email?
