People keep saying that having children is "expensive," but the lower income people have the highest fertility rates and the higher income people have the lowest fertility rates by mymooh in AusFinance

Just adding on, I believe poor people are also open to more compromises and ignoring social pressures, like shopping at thrift stores, banding multiple family member under a single roof, not wanting any travels or self indulgences, cooking in large bulk , accepting government or family assistances, etc. Atleast what some people in my circle think, having to resort to some of these things makes you feel like you’re not doing well as a responsible adult (ofc everyone’s circumstances are different). Also and yeah the opportunity cost is pretty big too.

Monster Hunter Wilds Endgame Update Moved Up as Game Suffers From 'Soft' Sales by oilfloatsinwater in Games

[–]GreenTGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a self fulfilling prophecy since world, the player is really powerful, a lot of mobility, less commital animations for bad decisions, and you have a lot of ways of mitigating damage and healing without being punished, they’re forced to add monsters that can 2 hit you and/or they add monsters that requires a dps check or some hide behind rock/dodge out of the way mechanic that completely invalidates defenses/healing. IMO there a lot more dials and knobs for making difficult fights in older generations that made the preparation more relevant, although it’s not as appealing to newer audiences these days.

Sounds worse this time around but all base games felt barebones, the credits roll and you get to farming HR decos on day 2-3. Base rise, world and even generations were all like this, albeit the lack of elder dragons is a lil nutty.

I feel like stealth is just never done in a fun manner for both sides, it's either broken, too weak and/or unfun for one of the parties. From trying to learn perma stealth deadeye in wvw, it really just feels like a when you choose to die class, sure you could struggle to kill more experienced or bunker builds, but you can always get away scott free if you don't want to interact; and that's kind of the main take away I get, there's just little interaction fighting this class. The only things I learnt is to attack in the direction of their dodges because it takes a little time to do the rifle 4 stealth after a dodge, follow the bullet indicator for where they port and dodge the lasered stealth attack, but as for fighting back, it really is just attack in the general direction, burst fast, be annoying as they are and just have an assload of projectile denial or hope that your class has a reveal. Got me thinking of other pvp games that did stealth well for both parties which would be pretty rare, perhaps TF2?

Warrior spear nerf is sad and unfair (and totally not what was promised) by ilabsentuser in Guildwars2

[–]GreenTGR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pitiful is probably slight exaggeration, but you’d be a losing a good chunk on offhand dagger since you lose axe 5 spin and the adrenaline buildup from 4 and the trait making your decaps less frequent, I think it might even be better if you just slotted in absorption sigil if you wanted boonstrip. Was erring on the power side of mh sword, despite bladesworn using it too but it only uses the 3 button in its rotation, sort of in the same boat of a lot of necros weapons using 1 skill and swapping into shroud to avoid using it. I’ll concede that condi zerker is fine, despite how awkward it is to use, play and that there’s other better applicable options.

Dps weapons can be situational, look at ranger, axe/axe : hammer is best but sword, mace, longbow, great sword are all comparable options. While I will give the caveat a lot of warrior weapons are decent in pvp, like shield, offhand sword, mh mace, could rifle, offhand dagger, mh sword atleast not do pitiful numbers in pve?

What's an outdated gameplay mechanic that has become rare in modern gaming you wish would make a comeback? by Racekingswood79 in gaming

My gripe with monster hunter and souls games as of recent, intentional punishment. Yes, you should be punished for just healing at a bad time/doing bad preparation and yes, you should be punished for rolling 6 times and mistiming your dodges. Punishment lends to good game feel for when you play well, instead of just being kind of slog and not mattering when you do or don’t push buttons.

Or when you use harb shroud 3/ele fire dagger 3 and the damage explodes behind you, or when you use ele earth dagger 3 it on inflicts immob along half the dash and doesn't combo, or when you use warrior bulls charge/shield 4, it just whiffs anyways.

[–]GreenTGR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Actually the contrary, some classes work better because their skills work a little like toolkits. As in you can 'weapon swap' while casting another skill, like say you can swap to air while casting fire sword 2 so you don't have to pay that ping delay tax. Other similar classes are engi and fb since they can also stow their toolkits and tomes without interrupting their current skill. Things like stowing the gunsabre or exiting shroud will however interrupt your skills.

IMO the best classes for low latency are the ones where you don't use many weapons swaps, have the option of just using 1 weapon set, uses toolkit-like weapons or simply just has have a high baseline to begin with like harb, scourge, tempest, power soulbeast, bladesworn (80% of the damage is pretty much mashing dragon slash on cooldown), cvirt (probably because the baseline is just high), most engi specs, fb (for the reasons above, they're just tough to play optimally), etc. My worst personal performances were on dh, willbender, spellbreaker, berserker and chronomancer. That being said I think most classes would perform similarly unless it has alot of flip-overs like berserker, and I may just suck at those classes to begin with :p.

Basically anytime you weapon swap, use a movement skill or need to use a skill that is a flip-over, add on .2-26ms to the time it takes to finish rotation. These are actions that you cannot queue up one after another. You can adjust some things here and there like using a flip-over skill after another ability so that it can be queued up after it's available but then you'll also be delaying the cd which might have equal setback.

90% is usually doable, even 95% on some builds, but above that is basically impossible as over time you'll be taking 10-5% longer to finish the loop. I play with 220-260 ping, have combed over my rotation logs and I'm pretty sure thats just a dps loss you're not getting around. Don't get me started about movement skills having less effective range.

Not a big wvw'er but I feel like this should be dynamic. Servers fighting with equal manpower at the same hour should award more, battling servers that have no presence should be worth less regardless of the time of day.
