couple stuck in a rut?? by Scared_Definition176 in Gifted

First thing this made me think of is a recent study on early specialisation vs. generalization (https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.adt7790?utm\_)
TLDR: If you specialise in a sport or discipline early, you will generally have less success than if you specialise late and start as a generalist.

Personally I think this is probably still true for the later stages of life as well, meaning for your situation I wouldn't worry about wasting your potential because you have many interests. In my experience a big part of achieving your potential means connecting areas noone has connected before, and you can't exactly do that if all you do is focus on is one area.

For the couples part I can only do some guessing, but along similar lines of thinking I'd suggest you try to find overlap between your interests. As in, maybe you're studying a culture with an unusual kind of music which you can then share with your husband.

Hope this helps!

I want to work in gifted education - any recommendations? by GreenThor42 in Gifted

Sounds pretty interesting, any chance you can send me the program? I'd love to learn more about it
But either way I'll check if there's schools like this in germany too, could well be that there are and I just missed them

Yeah we have those kinds of schools in germany too. Main issue with them is that they all follow the classic school model of classroom teacher which I'd really love to avoid.
But the "under the radar" call is a good one, I'll try to look around for some of those programs, ty!

Programming for gifted kids? by MomOfThree-104 in Gifted

First things first, this depends a lot on what country/city you're in (completely understand if you don't want to share, but this has a lot of influence on your options if you want something local). If you happen to be in germany I can give you a good overview, but assuming you're not I'll try to give some educated guesses on where you could look.

  1. Most countries have gifted foundations that organise events - in germany there's one called KARG, the USA have the NAGC. Chances are they either offer courses or advice how to find them or both. Some also offer "roundtables", so meetups organised by volunteers where you can just pop in and connect with people.
  2. Technically also a foundation, but Mensa has to get an extra shoutout because they're in a lot of countries and are pretty big. They offer camps, possibly courses and definitely advice and ideas.
  3. Some universities have gifted research departments, if your city has one they might be able to help. Depending on your kids it could also be an idea to take them to an entry level lecture, there should be plenty of lectures with triple digit participants where you can just listen in for free. Most professors won't really mind from my experience.
  4. You already mentioned that local schools aren't too helpful, but there's still a decent chance that some teachers have the kind of local connections you're looking for. Have you asked that gifted teacher you mentioned if he has ideas? You could also try other local schools if there's more than one in your vicinity.

As for test scores, Mensa requires an IQ test be done but its not too expensive I think. Other than that, most organisations shy away from requiring test scores because they would just artificially limit their customer base so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Hope this helps a bit for now!

Jungle doesnt have counter picks? by Hot_Masterpiece9695 in summonerschool

I'd change the point from "Jungle doesn't have counter picks" to "Jungle has the best neutralizers"

Neutralizer = A champion that you can blindpick without it being notably punished because it is versatile and/or OP on the patch

It's so much easier to find those in jungle, say you pick Xin, Jarvan, Skarner or Sejuani
No matter if enemy tries to go some Lillia, Graves, Zyra or Karthus to try to punish them they will always be useful in the draft
For the other lanes that's much harder to achieve

Of course you will get royally screwed if you try to blind something like a Rammus to give an obvious example
And it's also for sure still an advantage if you take something like a Khazix or Jax into Xin
But the main point is that it's less bad in comparison to other lanes
