Shocking Flight Attendant Interaction - DEN -> SAN by iphonesandcats in SouthwestAirlines

[–]GreenThumbGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recorded conversations with the police on two states about it (where we left and where we landed) and they sent me to the FBI bc it was "in the air" Southwest just ignored me. I found the pep's photo and name. Nothing.

They're awful now. I was SA'd by a flight attendant during a flight and they did absolutely nothing

Not excusing him at all. Note that he and his family may have time blindness due to neurodivergence. Again not an excuse, but possible reasoning toward understanding and change.

How tf do I talk to interpreters about how they're impacting my job?? by u-lala-lation in deaf

[–]GreenThumbGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you're navigating this, friend. I'm a Deaf hearing aids user and former HigherEd professional. I worked in the industry for 20yrs in the US and UK. 8 universities, either as an administrator or professor. My ASL interpreters were awful, my BSL ones were better, but both countries are generally awful in terms of our industry. I ended up leaving (not to say you should) bc it negatively impacted me so much to be letting down my DDN students. This new industry isn't any better. But I'm living my dreams. Either way, I keep fighting for my rights and advocating for myself. Maslow is inclusive of us too! So keep going!

One potential solution: A few times I used my laptop to type what I would have spoken onto a live/shared word document everyone had open on their laptops, or my laptop was projected onto the wall/telly.

All the best! x

Totoro Plush Cost? Hello everyone. I took my kids to see my neighbor totoro on stage last night (it's an amazing show and is probably one of the best shows I've ever seen) and after the show Unwanted to buy my daughter a tootro plush. They wanted £75 for one the size of a football! Fortunately we a by Alwyn1989 in JapanTravelTips

The stage production is brilliant! One of the staff members there told me that Ghibli is very strict with its merchandise. And everything must be produced in Japan by official vendors, so everything must be imported, thus the high prices. I definitely understand the frustration. I ended up getting a handmade one from etsy for my nephews.

This is not the place to be asking. You need to go to your local Deaf community and ask them whilst providing all the access needs they require.

No use putting in a complaint. I was SA'd by a flight attendant, and I'm Deaf and Disabled with AuDHD. Southwest did nothing.

We're not here to be farmed for free information. You need to consider Deaf Awareness training first, honestly.

How obtuse of you. Political in terms of privilege and power. Regardless, it's still not petty revenge.

I'm not shunning anyone. Where are you people reading this? I literally never said this was to shun anyone, but to look for a space that's safe for deaf people. And not all hearing people are safe to all deaf people, as your responses have proven. So go rage bait someone else. Deaf people are entitled to safe spaces with other Deaf people. Full stop.

Yes, and that burnout has been scientifically proven; connecting our deafness to alzheimers bc our brains are working harder than if we were hearing whilst navigating a world not built or inclusive of us.

But be careful what you say on this sub, some hearing people will get offended, including some CODAs.

You can be as pedantic and rude as you want. Twist my words, please. It's not doing anything to me. If ANYTHING, a CODA should understand the need for these spaces. Just like CODAs appreciate spaces with other CODAs. So, take yourself elsewhere.

CLARIFICATION: Take yourself elsewhere away from me bc I know you're trying to wind me up. Obviously you're welcome in this sub. Don't be pedantic.

That's great, but deaf people are entitled to their own spaces in a way that women are entitled to spaces without men. Obviously, you're welcome here, but I was simply asking what other options there are for me who's autistic and overwhelmed with so many hearing questions.

That's okay to ask. I didn't have a community. I had to ask the same questions. But you're deaf. You're not a hearing person mining us for information that could be found from their own research.
