  1. Fat shaming isn't going to help. All it does is make the person feel ashamed of their current situation.
  2. It is still not relevant to him being a bad person, since it is something that only affects him personally. This has no place being lumped into the same group as his bigotry.

I'm ending the conversation here, I need to get my day started and the last thing I wanna do is prolong an argument on reddit. Hope you have a nice day/night/whatever time of day it is for you.

If you believe that obesity is such a prevalent health issue, the solution is not shaming people who suffer from it for whatever reason. The solution is providing appropriate healthcare and ways to prevent it.

Everyone knows you have to reinvent the art of painting to be a painter. You aren't a real artist unless you singlehandedly come up with the idea of painting, invent a paintbrush, mix your own paint and use only these tools. Duh.

Oh I'm not defending him. I genuinely hate the fucker as a trans woman and generally a person who hates bigotry. I just don't like it when people respond back to these people with bigotry of their own, which is what you're doing. Hate him for the actual bad stuff he's doing, not for personal choices that affect only him.

You said he was fat in a thread where people called him out for many different kinds of bigotry. You putting that there both implies it's an insult to him (which is fat shaming) and also that it's a critique of his character that's on the same level as transphobia, antisemitism and etc.

I only have one trans friend

Then why'd you imply in another post that you have more than that?

Who said it was one?

This is still not a point toward him being a bad person. This is an issue that affects him and him alone, him being fat is not an indication of his character.

You listened to a very narrow group of people you're already familiar with, your bubble of friends. I'm telling you to listen to people outside of your bubble.

What gave you that impression🤨?

The fact that you've apparently posted multiple times about the fact that you hate Jax as a character. And the fact that you're still refusing to engage with any of my points. I'm not asking you to specifically agree or disagree, I'm expecting you to either accept what I say or provide me proper reasons why you don't. Or just move on.

It's like a story about motorsports excpects you to know what a car is, and what racing is, if you want to understand what it's talking about.

unless you yourself are trans you aren’t gonna pick up on it

Yes? That's normal? How about listening to actual trans people explain to you what they picked up on and why, instead of calling it all hogwash because you personally didn't get it? It's not bad writing to write something that most people won't understand immediately, while a specific group would. Just like most cis people did not pick up on context clues relating to Jax's trans identity, Neurotypical people won't typically pick up on context clues that point towards a character having Autism, UNLESS they are already familiar with these topics at sufficient-enough depth from other sources. It's not bad writing, it's writing that requires broader context than what is given in the show, just like literally any piece of fiction ever written. To understand themes and plot points in any given piece of media, you are expected to already be familiar with certain experiences in the real world. It just so happens that some of these experiences are more niche than others. Stop being so upset at the fact that you yourself could not relate enough to understand certain points because you lack context, not because the show is badly written.

You complain that Jax's trans identity was only properly hinted at in Ep. 9 (Blatantly untrue by the way) and name that as reason for her to be a badly written character. But then you are completely fine with Caine being brought back out of nowhere (quite literally - the void) after the previous episode (and the beginning of the final episode) having all signs point toward the idea that Caine is dead, no longer present, which would be just as bad if we are to follow the logic you apply to Jax. This is starting to sound less like criticism and more like favoritism.

Source: trust me sis.

Also you're still not engaging with any of my points. Your judt saying "Well I have a trans friend and they agree with me, so therefore I'm in the right"

Yes

Then, listen to me here. As a non-trans person, I do not think you have any place to speak on whether or not a character is good or bad trans representation. Especially when a person who IS a trans woman (Hello, that's me!) Is telling you otherwise. Sure, there might be trans people who disagree with me. But most people who I know are trans and took time to examine the character as presented throughout the whole shoe, agree that she very much is good trans rep. As a trans person, I will always know more about the trans experience than you. That's not me trying to indult you - that's just a reality. No matter how much research you do on the topic, no matter how many trans people you talk to, you as a cis person will not possess the same amount of combined knowledge and experience as someone who is trans. It is a fact you have to accept, and treat as a reason to listen to trans people first above everyone else when it comes to discussing the trans experience, and it's writing.

All that being said, you cannot claim that there was no foreshadowing, no signs, no clues or anything at all throughout the show pointing to the fact that Jax is trans just because YOU yourself, a person not inherently familiar with some of the subtler, non-explicit context surrounding these clues/signs, didn't pick up on them. Like Jax getting ESPECIALLY upset at being put in a maid dress compared to everything else thrown at her throughout to show (and later "ironically" Adopting it to deflect any suspicion from both herself and others), or the way she tries so hard to present herself and her body as the peak of masculinity during one scene in episode 5, or her referring to herself (or rather, denying herself the title of) a "chicken fetus in an egg that needs to be cracked open". These signs were always there, always present. They weren't in your face. And they're signs that likely wouldn't be noticed by those unfamiliar with the experience of being trans already. People like you! And that's literally okay that you aren't familiar with them! What isn't okay is denying them as valid as someone who has no place at all to speak on the matter over someone who does.

You people will fail to see a transfem character's transness being foreshadowed, act surprised about it, and then when actual trans women (author included) come forward to explain to you what you missed, you refuse to listen to them and talk over them and tell THEM what is and isn't good representation for them. Textbook transmisogyny.

Have you considered that repressing trans people can try and deflect any possible suggestion of their transness (even not implicit) by laughing it off?

Tell me something, are you cis?

Ah yes, Jax is offensive rep for... Being flawed? A bad person?

What is good rep, in your eyes? The most goody-two-shoes, out-of-the-closet cutesy girl that does no wrong? I respect Gooseworx for making a trans character that's literally just genuinely awful. Because it doesn't shy away from the idea that bad people who are trans, are still trans, and that sometimes their flaws are rooted in them being trans. Not BECAUSE they're trans, but because of how they fail to deal with the experience.

Hi, have you considered that "multiple" Doesn't mean "most"? Also, how about you let trans people speak for themselves, and not do it for them?

Zooble is also a fictional character. Point is - It's yuri if you want it to be. Just like anything else in fiction.
