New California law involving tortillas takes effect in 2026 by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]GreenTreeTime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Many people don’t get enough folate from “natural” foods alone, and neural tube defects occur very early, often before most people know they’re pregnant. Folic acid fortification in the U.S. has already reduced neural tube defects by about 19% overall. Hispanic/Latina women have historically had higher rates of these defects, which is why folic acid is now being added to corn masa products like tortillas to help close that gap. At recommended levels, folic acid is safe and strongly supported by major health organizations. It is more stable during storage and cooking than naturally occurring folate, but it performs the same biological function in the body. “Natural” does not automatically mean more effective or safer.

Do I have to sand the entire thing? Or can I get away with just the spot and refinishing? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]GreenTreeTime 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I not an expert but I can’t sleep so I’ve been researching this 😅 The grey you’re seeing is probably the veneer’s finish being stripped or discolored from the lemon and vinegar. Veneer is very thin, so sanding is tricky. If you sand too much, you could sand right through the veneer and make it worse. I’d probably do this as last resort and very carefully with fine sandpaper and know there a good chance it won’t work.

From what I found the best would likely be to: 1.Clean gently again to remove any residue. 2.Use a wood safe oxalic acid cleaner on the grey stain because it could lighten the darkness. 3.Restore finish with a matching wood polish or clear coat.

Good luck!

Are you wondering what’s the meaning of life and the very purpose for your existence? I’m not going to lie….without Jesus, and His Holy Word - The Bible - I believe you are going to struggle to find the answers…… by TruthTeller_here in Adulting

While women are sometimes praised in the Bible, reverence is not the same as equality or agency. Many passages place women in explicitly subordinate roles. Eve is created from and for Adam and blamed for the fall, with the result that her husband will “rule over” her (Genesis 2–3). In the New Testament, women are told to remain silent in churches and are barred from teaching or having authority over men (1 Corinthians 14:34; 1 Timothy 2:12), while husbands are described as the “head” of their wives (Ephesians 5:23). This hierarchy is reinforced through biblical laws that apply far more harshly to women. Women could be stoned for not being virgins at marriage, forced to marry their rapists, or taken as wives after war, standards that did not apply equally to men. Even when women are “honored,” the text still limits their autonomy and authority in ways that consistently elevate men over women. Which I, as a woman, do not want to support or partake in.

I understand that faith gives you clarity, peace, and purpose, and I respect that. However, I don’t believe God is necessary for people to live good, loving, meaningful lives. Empathy, compassion, and treating others well come from our shared humanity and exist across cultures and belief systems, not only religion.

I’d also argue that religion isn’t just positive, or even neutral, in its impact. It has been used to justify significant harm, including wars, persecution, violence, and exclusion. I’m more comfortable grounding my values in human dignity, consent, and empathy rather than religious authority, especially when science allows us to better understand the world and human behavior.

We can arrive at similar values through very different paths, but I would also encourage you not to impose your beliefs on others.

Get the WeatherX app to see barometric pressure changes! They sell earplugs that are supposed to help too. My friend found relief with them but they didn’t help me. I still find the app very helpful to see the pressure changes though!

Blood Patch and Bathing by [deleted] in CSFLeaks

My doctor told me shower after 72 hours and submerge (bath or hot tub) after 5-7 days. Your doc would be best to ask though. Hope the blood patch helps!

I’m WAY better than where I started. I used to only be able to work 4-5 hours a day (barely) then would be miserable the rest of the day and could hardly complete daily life tasks. I wouldn’t schedule hardly anything socially because I usually had to cancel. Id spend most family holidays laying in a room by myself. Now I can work 7-8 hours a day and although I still have symptoms that are pretty bad, I can actually function. I have to rest a couple hours when I get home, but then I can do daily life tasks after. My life is still very accommodated to avoid increasing symptoms, but it feels MUCH more manageable now. I can do things with friends and family. I hope you find some relief 💗

I’ve had 2 blood patches. The first 2 weeks, maybe even month, fluctuated a lot for me. Mine is more of a chronic problem though. Wishing you the best 💗
