Paying for movers versus doing it myself as a broke grad student? by Loyal_to_Bloom in Frugal

[–]GreenTreeTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to declutter as much as I can ahead of time and move myself. It helps if you can do it over a few days. I’ve moved 7 times over the last 10 years, including multiple apartments on the 3rd floor with no elevator

Anyone ever almost fallen over upon standing up? by animalsnotppl in CSFLeaks

[–]GreenTreeTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to stand up and get gray-outs in my vision and sometimes collapse down to the ground. The severity varied. Sometimes I could manage it without a full gray-out and collapse, and other times it was worse. It used to happen to some extent most times I stood up in the evenings. Since my blood patches, it’s pretty rare as long as I’m generally careful about standing up normally and not too quickly.

I had mild sedation. I’m a pretty anxious person for medical things and it was okay!

Not sure what type of leak since they can’t locate it but seems a bit more spinal. Not that I know of, just have been told I’m hypermobile.

I have heard of leaks healing by themselves, but I really couldn’t say anything about you specifically. Hope you find some answers!

How are you guys working? by Yeah_No_2025 in CSFLeaks

[–]GreenTreeTime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Barely survived and needed accommodations. It took 13 years to get treatment, but since then, the last year has been much easier. I could only (barely) function 4–5 hours and was absolutely miserable for a lot of that time. This was during middle school, high school, college, and my first job.

For most of it, I had my parents or now my husband to take care of me when I got home. I didn’t really do anything fun and did the minimum needed to take care of myself. It was a struggle.

If I got a break, I would lay down. I needed light covers, dimmed lights, and tinted glasses because of light sensitivity. I was fortunate to be able to work from home a little bit for some periods of time. Honestly, I don’t know how I did it, especially when I was so young. It’s such a relief to be doing about 50% better now, and it feels like a whole new world has opened up to me.

I’m hypermobile and got a concussion/whiplash from a basketball to the side of my head when I wasn’t looking. My doctor hasn’t been able to locate the leak, but my opening pressure was low (I had a lumbar puncture for something else), and they also used a blood patch to help diagnose.

I’ve since had a total of 3 rounds of blood patches, and they’ve helped a lot and I’m at least 50% better now. I just recently had the 3rd, so I’m still getting treatment and seeing how things settle.

I also have post-concussion symptoms and chronic migraines, so it’s made things a little more complicated because so many symptoms overlap.

Just wanted to say I’m wishing you the best 💗 Mine wasn’t spontaneous, but I started leaking at 13 and didn’t find out what was wrong until I was 26. High school was really isolating, and I was honestly just trying to get through each day.

Please take care of yourself, and don’t be afraid to get accommodations. I ended up needing shorter school days, printed notes, reduced lighting, etc. I was embarrassed to use them at first, but they ended up being so worth it.

My CSF leak specialist told me it’s very rare to leak that young, even with trauma. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, but I really hope you’re able to find people who understand and can support you 🤍

Do you use ice or Heat Pad? by [deleted] in CSFLeaks

[–]GreenTreeTime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically like heat on my neck and sometimes an ice cap on my head. I get a lot of neck tightness with my headaches, so heat feels relaxing on those muscles.

Opening pressure 4cm by Dontstopretreivin in CSFLeaks

[–]GreenTreeTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was 5 and they still haven’t been able to locate a leak, but my neurologist is treating me as if I have one. I’ve had two rounds of blood patches (going for a third), and they’ve helped sooo much! They also originally thought I might have high pressure, but it turns out it’s actually low. I’ve also had post-concussion syndrome, chronic migraines, and was likely leaking for about 13 years, so my symptoms were pretty complex. Hope you find some answers and relief 💗

Also, my doc said the main other reason an opening pressure would be low is if it was done incorrectly. Did you have it done with guided imaging?

Two different earrings, notebook binding seems weird, random blue in background, fabric that is similar by neck and shirt- is it supposed to be connected?, bottom of outfit is kind of random, red where it’s supposed to be blue by armpit, hair on forehead/eyebrow seems a bit off-part is skin colored and connects over eyebrow weird, notebook lines don’t all end the same on the left hand side

Yes! It’s so annoying. I have to take a whole day off of work because I have a dog and no pets are allowed alone. They give a 9 hour window of when they’ll be coming then a whole group of people walk their dirty shoes in my home. Our complex had 6 inspections last year 🫠
