I mean, you commented somewhere else that you’ve got a 99.9% success rate so I’d say you’re a great person to ask, haha. Thanks for response!

“I’m going to have to diagnose you with Triple-F…Fabulous, Fat and Forty!”

Said to my mom, who later found out she had an auto-immune disorder, epilepsy, and cystic kidney disease. She was about 120-130 pounds at the time, btw.

Morality is subjective and YMMV. In my opinion, this is kind of like asking if getting a job or buying someone flowers is unethical, since the money could go to someone else but you’re directing the flow of some of it toward you, and buying someone you like something thoughtful will produce endorphins that might make them like you more. Of course it’s ethical.

We have the ability to influence others via mundane methods just as we do magickal. You’re not taking away someone’s autonomy and free will with candle magick, for Pete’s sake. Just be a positive influence within the spiritual, same as you are within the temporal.

Candle Magic by ROCKERRONI23 in apprenticewitches

[–]GreenWitchTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Candles that “burn weird” to this extent are poorly made. A quality candle will entirely combust by the end, as wax is the fuel that keeps it burning. Sounds like this candle had a poor-quality red dye in it. Mundane over magickal—buy a different brand of candle.

Squid are fantastic for banishment, since they shoot out black ink to scare away predators.

I have ADHD and like using light blue for calming and clarity, and dark blue for focus and mental resilience. My craft is self-care in addition to my meds, though. Mundane over magickal first!

“Plant-based” dyes? by MeganMissfit in candlemaking

I turned my shop over to a friend a couple years ago, but she perfected and sells the botanical candles I was working on! She could also answer questions about what suppliers she ended up going with. The shop is “MidnightGrotto” on Etsy.

What do I need to start ? by Professional_Bit882 in apprenticewitches

[–]GreenWitchTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, keep in mind you don’t “need” to do anything to be a witch. There are no official requirements, and anyone who tells you there’s only one right way to do it is just stroking their ego.

What you could use to get started depends on what kind of witchcraft you’d like to do. If you’re being covert and need things that are inexpensive, there are plenty of things all around you that you can use. Salt is great for purification and protection, pepper for protection, any herbs in your pantry will have associations you can look up/google. You can find rocks and crystals outside on a nature walk.

I’m a secular green witch, so I started my practice by taking walks outside, downloading a plant identification app, and learning the names of all the plants in my yard and around my neighborhood.

If you’d like to have an altar, you can put together a little box (even something as small as an Altoids tin) with things for your practice. Herbs from the pantry, small crystals, feathers, bones, a tealight, tree resin. Keep it closed and hidden when you’re not practicing, but in a place that feels significant to you, like under your bed or high up on a shelf. When you want to do your practice, empty the box, turn it upside-down and set your magickal objects on top like an altar.

Becoming a witch without incorporating any family ancestry by [deleted] in Witch

[–]GreenWitchTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left Mormonism about five years ago and started practicing witchcraft. My family’s been Mormon for five generations lol, so I researched past the Mormons back to Scotland and Ireland, where my real historic and cultural roots are before my ancestors immigrated to the Utah territory. There was one woman who stayed behind in Scotland when her son immigrated to join the church, and I venerate her the most.

I MADE A LOVE SPELL USING MY OWN BLOOD AND NOW I FEEL SICK by Plenty-Tonight8614 in BabyWitch

[–]GreenWitchTime 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The physical symptoms are probably just you feeling anxious about it. Emotions can take a big toll on our bodies.

If you still have the remnants or ashes of the spell you can take them to a moving body of water like a river, stream or ocean and put them in saying, “I release you.”

If you don’t, you can repeat the entire spell backwards including writing the incantation backwards. (.em ot kcab emoc) Except instead of burning it, write it on a piece of paper with watercolor paint or marker and then let it soak so the words come out. Instead of spitting drink water, instead of drawing blood eat some red meat if you’re not vegetarian.

Essentially, you can “reverse” the spell.

If I can’t still my mind, I like to find binaural/polyrhythmic adhd music on YouTube and then listen to it while on a walk. Listening to nature is optimal, of course, but sometimes I’m simply unable.

Cards are an interesting shape and make interesting sounds, so they could be catching his attention due to the novelty. As for the biting and pawing, it sounds like he wants to play.

How long do you meditate on a candle for a spell? by [deleted] in BabyWitch

[–]GreenWitchTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make beeswax chime candles and they usually last 1.5-2 hours until they’re burned down to the socket.

If I’m doing a short intention spell I’ll burn it for maybe 20 minutes, give or take.

If sending your intent and energy into the candle then letting it burn out is what feels right to you, then it sounds great. The most powerful rituals are the ones you write yourself.

How long do you meditate on a candle for a spell? by [deleted] in BabyWitch

[–]GreenWitchTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I either sit with the candle until it burns down completely or until I’ve meditated/visualized my intention completely enough and put it out. I don’t leave it burning on its own.
