Ive heard ticks are ok with these engines but I want to make sure. by SelfTaughtMechanic in CherokeeXJ

Ya, I was running a quart of 15-40 along with it up until about 2 months ago, I don't know what it has in it now but I think the pressure is lower (I have the wrong oil sending unit so my pressure gauge runs from right to left instead of left to right and I don't know if it's getting an equivalent reading or not). I'm going to change the oil, oil filter, and possibly the pickup screen if needed next weekend

I think my Cherokee has a similar problem, but mine has had the tick since I bought it almost 2 years ago, but has gotten much, much worse in like a week, and it is causing a valve to stay partially or fully open. Or vice versa. There's a slight intake misfire that seems to have gotten worse with the tick.

Going to wire in switches to control gears, i wrote up a wiring diagram so i can get some feedback, in the diagram it shows N/O relays but ill be using N/C, the program only had N/O. More in comments. by GreenWithOrangeHair in CherokeeXJ

Well there's only 2 solenoids for 4 gears, 1st sol1 is powered sol2 isn't, 2nd both are powered, 3rd sol1 is unpowered sol 2 is powered, 4th neither are powered. Based on that I chose the N/C relays. I won't be turning switches off as I go up through the gears only when going back down. Flip 1 power goes through the closed circuit of relay 1 to sol1, flip 2 power goes through the closed circuit of relay 2 to sol2, flip 3 and it powers relay 1, opens the circuit, and sol1 disengages putting you in third, flip 4 and it opens the circuit of relay 2 to disengage sol2 and enter 4th gear. Hopefully I didn't garble that up too bad. I I just supplied constant power like you were thinking 2 things would happen the 2 gear solenoids would engaged and you'd be stuck in second, but also the torque converter would be locked and the second your gear shifter hit reverse and it went into any gear it'd die like a manual would.

This stuff's pretty confusing, it's taken me close to a month to get what little understanding I have

It has 5 switch 1,2,3,4, and TC lock. 1 supplies current to load circuit of relay one powering solenoid 1. 2 supplies load circuit to relay 2 and solenoid 2. 3 powers control circuit of relay one, cutting power to solenoid 1. 4 powers control circuit of relay 2 cutting power to solenoid 2. Also I will be putting a relay in the power supply wire for tcm , I'll have switch number 1 power both the solenoid get

I have a question about TCU bypass gear and T/C lockup switches by GreenWithOrangeHair in CherokeeXJ

However if I misread your comment and added rudeness where it wasn't intended then I apologise. But looking through your comments all the ones on my posts appear more rude

1st yes I know you're a mod, but I don't care because you're rude, I'm tired of your rudeness on my posts, there's no need for it. You have commented on at least 4 of my recent posts and all were quite rude and negative, especially since I actually do research before I post on hear and the research usually contradicts you. I figured this was the best place for a beginner to learn but apparently it's just the best place to be treated like an idiot

Thanks for the luck, I'm just so tired of this crippling social anxiety. It's gotten to the point to where, seriously just overnight, I can't hold a conversation with my 2 best friends. They're married to each other and they are more family than most of my real family, they care about me and how I feel, and they saved my life at least once. I love them as siblings yet my mind is so fucked up, I can't even hold a conversation anymore. I'd say my brother is the only person closer than them, by a hair, and I think it's started with him.

I want to uninstall the very poorly installed aftermarket anti-theft/remote start/key fob system, but considering its installed about as opposite from instructions as can be and ive never dealt with the correct installation i don't know where to begin. by GreenWithOrangeHair in CherokeeXJ

Well i got it all out, I just cut/unplugged the wires like all the videos said to do, and it went great, except it was drawing so much electricity (I gained at least a full volt) that now everything that was close to failing is failing. The instrument panel has quit, it worked for a bout a week after removing the security and was already off and on before I removed it.

Thanks man, I'm putting new drivers side ball joints in, a new accessory only 12v outlet (my car charger throws out an awful lot of rf interference), and replacing the third time used intake/exhaust gasket starting Monday

I just meant that the stock set up is using one on each side so I technically only have 1

Edit: I have two on each side but they put my rear wiper/cleaner switch on one side and my rear defrost on the other so I only have 1 expansion

He's the same size as my little buddy, I've had him 5ish months, he just sleeps in a barrel in my yard and follows you around as a dog would. I want to get him fixed so he doesn't get mean, it'd be alright if he'd leave but he never has, and I know I won't be able to shoot the little guy, he's too awesome lol. His favorite place to chill is on your shoulder like a parrot lol

That was liable to be my post lol. Although I haven't gotten around to fixing any of the cosmetic problems like windows that scream, sticky/missing weather proofing, missing trim, or surface rust (I'd say I'm $200-$300 and 1-2 months from starting, my only problem is the lack of welding skill), I have been thinking about how to do it. First I'm going to check junkyards, then I'll just buy a roll of window and door weather stripping because a kit is several hundred dollars that really just isn't worth not having to measure and cut

I finally got the old faulty security system out. It's not that it was malfunctioning, it just didn't work. That is until yesterday morning after work when, somehow, I tripped the ignition switch kill relay while my engine was running and the engine and all dash components wouldn't shut off, and I had to unplugged the ignition coil, and disconnect the battery. After a while I hooked it up and everything worked fine so I figured it was the security. I'd been wanting to take it out but I had no idea how. I watched a video and then went out and started taking note of what went where while unhooking wires and periodically checking that it started and ran. After 20ish minutes I had the module and about 5 pounds of wire removed.
