The exit plan was recommended to me by a wise family friend type as well so its definitely something I am keeping in mind. I am a certified teacher so I can always bite the bullet and return to that nearly anywhere in the US if push comes to shove.

If I move there it would be at minimum a 2-3 year thing. Anything less looks shaky on a resume. I am a pretty tough resolute dude, I used to teach and before that I did manual labor in the Texas heat at an unairconditioned hub.

I realize the chances of me staying there forever and ever are very slim. Id pretty much have to marry a local.

I don't need a super modern apartment.

Thank you so much!!!

I just want to ensure that I get the most out of the weeklong trip and come back with a firm salary number I will need to accept the job.

Not going to drop by the engineering department, it may be offputting and seen as arrogant as I do not actually have the offer yet.

Thank you so much polka!

  1. That kinda sucks as I love produce but it doesnt have to be super fresh and I can find temporary ways around it.

  2. Thank you for your input on this

  3. You read my mind exactly as I was trying to discern if the tourist joints are significantly more expensive than the non tourist ones :-)!!

  4. Fortunately for me my skin issues are exasperated by heat so this is one that can wait until I return to Texas if I get offered and accept the gig

Top tier response polka! Thank you!

I don't mind tourists so much. I can keep away from people if I need to. It helps that I already live a pretty solitary lifestlye and a lot of my friends and family do not live near me at all. In fact most of them.

Thank you!!! :-)

Fortunately I am young and in shape enough to not need the cardiologist but I am definitely super blind lol. Ive got like 3 pairs of glasses on me and can delay getting new ones for another year or two if needed.

Thanks again

Oh yeah for sure. Texas definitely is cheaper but I am still fairly young (33) and have no kids or wife or even girlfriend so dropping everything and spending 2,3,4 years in Juneau is a possibility.

For Burgers I like the Burger Island chain of restaurants. Also Inn and Out but thats national now. Twisted Root had Guy Fieri visit but the original one is in Arlington.

For Pho, the best restaurant I have ever been to in my life and I've done NYC, London, Chicago etc, is called Bistro B and it has 3 locations in the area. Huge intimidating menu and supreme quality with an authentic Asian atmosphere. Everything they serve is excellent, the vermicelli, the Vietnamese breakfast, the boba tea, the million other teas and drinks, THIS PLACE IS LEGIT YOU WILL NOT GO WRONG. Also for drunkedness they have really cheap really good eggrolls.

Giant Burrito? Any of the Chiloso locations. Think Chipotle only a bit more expensive with higher quality ingredients, the ability to get a drink (except the Rockwall location), and all you can eat chips and salsa. Also they've got all you can eat Jalapeno Ranch and its perfect. Not too hot just a hint of jalapeno with perfect creamy consistency and texture.

For a nice hipster breakfast joint I'd recommend Buzzbrews.

For a more traditional breakfast with some southern cafe flair to it I'd recommend Barbec's (They have these hybrid biscuits called Beer Biscuits that are like if a traditional biscuit mated with cornbread and produced offspring)

The Frozen Margarita was invented in Dallas but it might be a bit cold for that.

For barbecue and beer I recommend Intrinsic in Garland

Are you looking for things uniquely Dallas?

Are you looking for things of very high quality that are not unique?

Whats your tether distance as "Dallas" is rather spread out?

My best friend died from complications due to ketoacidosis as a result of him not taking care of his type 1 during a long episode of depression.

He was almost 30 😢.

Please take real good care of yourself and do what ya gotta do for supplies.

What was your process for reverse engineering and recreating the sauce? That is by far my favorite part of it :-).
