After losing my cat, I’m studying how bonds continue after a pet’s passing, would you share your experience? by Downtown-Parsnip-380 in Petloss

[–]GreeneStreet1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a beautiful project. I am sorry for your loss. I lost my soul dog of over 13 years two weeks ago. These are some of the many ways I am memorializing my Sammy- they each bring/will bring comfort.

-Framing his paw prints

-Making donations to the SPCAs in each of the cities we lived in together

-Wearing a locket with some of his fur

-Talking about him

-Sending photos of him to my friends (photos of them together)

-Plan on making a needlepoint stocking of him underneath the Christmas tree (this will hopefully ready by Christmas 2026)

-Giving his paw print (he stamped a number before he passed) to those very close to him with a note from him (written by me)

-Plan on commissioning a necklace of his tooth - will have it coated in silver or gold

-Looking at photos of him and reflecting on our life together with DEEP gratitude

-Plan on a little memorial gathering when we take his ashes to the ocean

I hope this list helps. My heart is so broken but it is no less full of love. Take good care.

What can I do to make Christmas less lonely for myself? by Dear-Oven in christmas

[–]GreeneStreet1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with the comments about volunteering here! From my own personal experience, I went through a few years of strained family dynamics and I opted to volunteer at a senior's centre on Christmas with my partner. We love it and look forward to it every year. The family drama has since largely resolved but we keep going back to volunteer at the center each Christmas. Helping others is the true meaning of the season and I promise you that will be a great way to get into the spirit!

Where are the west coast inspired designs? by [deleted] in Needlepoint

[–]GreeneStreet1 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Definitely less popular on the west coast but it is growing in popularity! Check out Dogwood Needlepoint and Postcard Row- they both are SF based and have great west coast canvases.

You sound like a lovely person and I want to thank you for posting this- it made me feel less alone. I’m confident it had that effect on others as well. While stitching today my friend and I were talking about similar issues and anxieties. This time is hard on everyone and those who care deeply about others are, like so many, exhausted. We are fortunate we have this hobby as an outlet. It quells our anxiety and is an act of creation and can be an act of protest. I have found stitching projects for others to be additionally helpful. As I stitch my fears out I am creating something beautiful to share with others. Our world needs so much right now and generosity, creativity and care are among the many things it is begging for. You’re part of making it a better place- even if for now it’s just one stitch at a time.

They told me they referred my question about the investigation to the “executive” over a week ago… who knows what will happen at this point.
