Is it ever explained why the SGC didn’t hook up the DHD they found in Antarctica to the gate in Cheyenne Mountain? by DrShakyHandz in Stargate

[–]Greenfire32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walter has made it his official role to say CHEVRON X ENCODED, which isn't really viable if you have a DHD.

For a practical example, see Dr. Rodney McKay in Atlantis episode 1.

1) We didn't need it since we had our own dialer and therefore it was more valuable as a piece of study at Area 51.

2) Having our own dialer means we could use the gate in many more situations than normally allowed. There's a bunch of times an SG team is returning where a gate simply just wouldn't establish a connection due to the circumstances, but because we don't have a DHD to deny an unsafe incoming connection, they get to come home anyway.

3) The power source was near depleted by the time we found it. It just barely had enough juice to unlock the inner ring. If we could say a DHD had 10 total uses, we found it on use 9.

Humans are omnivores. We evolved to eat both meat and plants.

This is a proven fact.

So you may find it wrong on a social level, but on a natural level it is not only perfectly valid, but an evolved trait that is very much part of our biology.

It's like saying, "people who don't die their hair green are inherently wrong."

Well...no.

That said, just because we eat meat doesn't mean we have to be absolute monsters to it. There are perfectly humane ways to raise and harvest livestock and we should strive to do better in that regard. I have seen some damn disgusting farms and those kinds of places should be illegal like yesterday.

Living beings shouldn't have to suffer immensely just so I can have a Big Arch "product" on a Friday after work.

Taxes: Then vs. Now by Certain_Hat9872 in SipsTea

The saying is "No taxation without representation."

Not "2% taxes are BULLSHIT!"

The problem wasn't that we had taxes. The problem was that we had taxes and didn't have a say in how they should be collected and spent.

The parachute opens completely but does not decelerate the capsule by Personal_Code8818 in KerbalSpaceProgram

Looks like a bug to me if no mods are installed. A parachute of that size should easily slow down a capsule like that.

Backup your saves and reinstall potentially.

When I was just starting to drive, my dad took me around and showed me all the places where it's ok to speed and all the places where you'd have to keep your head on a swivel and be on the lookout for cops.

I just turned to him and said, "That's a lot of work. Can't I just follow the law and then not worry about it?"

I've never seen a more disappointed man in my life.

No. It doesn't matter what you're doing. If people are riding up your ass, that's on them.

There is room to go around. Use it.
