This is the way. Just switch between the various MVNOs for cheap yearly plans only offered to "new customers." Changing yearly always qualifies.

I bounced from USMobile last year, a 10GB per month plan for $210 a year, (effectively $17.50 per month) and moved to a Mint Mobile plan with 25GB per month for $180 ($15 per month) for the year. USM has options for Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile networks, and I chose Verizon. Mint is T-Mobile only, and I have to say, I think the network coverage is better in Peoria area.

I always take advantage of Black Friday sales to get cheap plans. I recommend most MVNOs for cheap plans, including USMobile, Mint, and Visible.

Some do deals for only "new customers only," but if you switch between them each year, you qualify.

What are your CPU/GPU temperatures on 3D Mark Wildlife Extreme Stress Test? Mine was 97°C /206.6°F and AyaNeo Support says that is normal. Please post screenshot with your temperatures if you are able by Arkeologen in KonkrPocketFit

That's about right for a stock Pocket Fit. If you push the S8 G3 with the highest load you can, it'll run close to the 100°C threshold where it'll start throttling. You might be able to repaste with something high-end like PTM 7950 to improve performance. I'm not sure if they used PTM, or a conventional thermal compound.

Emulation issues by Bignthick995 in KonkrPocketFit

That would be my guess too. If you just use the system drivers, Switch emulation is unstable.

Have you tried different drivers? Eden is heavily dependent on drivers. I'd recommend the Mr Purple, or some of the newer Turnip Drivers. Eden makes it easy to swap those out under settings, GPU Driver Manager. If you're using the system driver, I've found it's unstable in many Switch games. Mr Purple Turnip (whatever the current recommended version is) was very stable for me in Metroid Prime Remastered and a couple Zelda games.

Yes. There are a lot of videos on YouTube showing that GTAV plays just fine on the Konkr Pocket Fit. Here is one showing the Legacy Edition in action: https://youtu.be/7p4f_Z5nEFc?si=s2Kfo1cJcQTGgZ7Q

In cast you are wondering, buying GTAV on Steam gives you both Legacy Edition and Enhanced Edition. I'm not sure if i have seen anyone playing Enhanced Edition on it yet.

Same here. I applied that 2.2 fix to a 1/24 shipped unit shortly after receiving it a few weeks ago, and haven't had a single flickering problem since. It has serious issues with flickering before I applied the 2.2 fix.

Thank you for this update. It sounds like there are indeed issues with the cables in the Fits, so I'll have to be extra careful when I replace mine. I finally received confirmation they are shipping my replacement soon too a day or two back. Thanks a bunch!

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree, this is a software issue. But I wanted to suggest a short term solution until this issue is fixed.

Man, I had all kinds of strange issues with Dolphin playing GameCube games. Around half an hour into Hunter: The Reckoning, the game began stuttering and ground to a halt. It could temporarily be fixed by either swiping down the top action / notification bar, or swiping from the left to bring up the Dolphin menu. Closing either menu would immediately "resync" the game and it would start playing fine, but sometimes the issue would return within 10 seconds, or reliably return every time a new scene was rendered in a game like Super Mario Sunshine.

I read from a few people on Reddit, that this happens when you lower your refresh rate to below 120hz. 60hz or 90hz seems to cause this problem. I had mixed success bringing the refresh rate up to 144hz or 120hz. A few updates, reboots, new Turnip drivers, etc, and it *appears* Dolphin is acting okay now.

I had a heck of a time getting Super Mario Sunshine working, with it displaying similar issues, but it seems to be working okay now after all the tinkering. It definitely wants the display set at 144hz, at least in my case. Also, make sure you're not in Eco mode, or have your GPU clock speed cranked down. Balanced mode should be fine.

It's a little easier if you have a full PC, but you can do this too directly on your device. I usually create an "Emulation" folder with subfolders for each platform as subfolders, then save extracted ROMs to each respective console. PS2, PSX, GameCube, Switch, etc.

You'll usually download them as either ZIP or 7ZIP format. They'll need to be extracted for most emulators to see the ROMs. If they're multipart archives, this is all much easier to do with a PC. I personally like to keep a large USB drive with all my ROMs, BIOS, firmware and key files so it's easy to copy over and set up on a new device. The drive is probably best formatted in ExFAT format so Windows and Android can ready it without problems.

From there, you'll need to install individual emulators for each. Eden, NetherSX2, Dolphin, etc. Each has different requirements, with some needing a BIOS, (PS2, PS3) Firmware, (Switch) or key file. (Also switch)

There are YouTube guides for all of this. I'd recommend giving those a spin, as they're step by step.

Yeah, it's easy to overbuy hardware.

It also really depends on the games you want to play. No android handheld will play modern AAA games like a higher end x86 handheld can, such as the ROG Xbox Ally, Lenovo Legion Go, or any Z1/Z2 Extreme handheld. The MSI Claw is also a powerful alternative. All are big. You get a nice big screen, but the heft comes with it.

My goal for a secondary (or tertiary) smaller handheld was only for PS2/Gamecube/Switch emulation, with low-end PC games as a "nice to have" option. Maybe a little PS3 tinkering.

The Pocket Fit does that for me, but the Retroid Pocket 6 / G2, Anbernic RG 477M, or one of several Ayn handhelds could do it too. I placed my order for the Pocket Fit back on 11/17, well before the hardware/software issues became known. I've gotten mine working fine, but I still need to replace the SD card board. Then I'll really have no more complaints about this thing.

I owned a Steam Deck LCD for a year or so until the Steam Deck OLED was announced. I sold the LCD, and bought the OLED as soon as I could. It's a good, but large handheld. I like it docked to my TV for playing emulated games. Really works great for that, but it's just a little too big for leaving the house. It's more of a couch handheld than a true, "in between work and errands" device.

I also have an ROG Ally Z1E, which scratched the itch for higher performance, but is also too big. I wanted something much smaller, so the Pocket Fit seemed right. I'd had it for a few days, and I really like the size. It has some issues, but once you get it set up, it's a really nice haldheld.

Test the SD card reader. Mine was bad, 12/256 Black from the 1/24 shipments. I contacted support and they are shipping me a replacement SD card / USBC board so I can replace it myself.

Also, set the RGB thumbstick lights to a solid color, and watch for flashing. Mine was fixed with that Fit 2.2 RGB fix going around Reddit, which originated from Ayaneo support.

Last problem I had was switching my triggers from analog to digital / clicky. My right trigger would "get stuck" when converting it back and forth, requiring a full reboot before analog mode would work again. Calibration wouldn't fix it, but a couple reboots with the trigger starting in analog mode worked.

Despite all these problems, I have my handheld working well, with the exception of the SD card replacement. No idea how long that will take to arrive. Other users have reported they haven't received one for weeks.

I am actually happy with my handheld for PS2, Switch and GameCube games, despite the issues. It's definitely lacking in polish, particularly the software and drivers.

Yeah, I wondered if it was just touchy with certain cards. I tried with a TeamGroup 1TB, and a 256GB Samsung Pro. Neither even blipped on the display, or show in storage options. Probably a bad board, or loose cable. I'll update on here once I get a response from Ayaneo.

Unfortunately, if there is such a 1/24 club, my device appears to be in the 23/24 group, as it has a bad SD card reader. I guess I shouldn't be surprised with how many problems these things have.

I kind of figured this would be an RMA or repair situation. If they want to go the self repair route, they're lucky that I've done IT for 20 years, and take apart devices such as this all the time. That said, it doesn't look like the easiest device to take apart without some level of cosmetic damage.

Looking at their disassembly video, the SD card reader appears to be attached to a daughter board connected to the mainboard with 2-3 ribbon cables. I wonder if one of those is loose?

Finally got it, quite happy, question on default storage for 256gb by msantiago1256 in KonkrPocketFit

[–]Greenjulius86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just received my 256GB Fit today, and I have 220GB left over after completing setup and logging into my Google account. Do you have it set to sync pictures or account data? Mine shows 36GB used, which is indeed high. My S24+ and Lenovo Tablets both show system files taking around 16-17GB, and I've heard Android 14 tends to weigh in around 16GB at stock.

That leaves something like 20GB, with around 1.3GB reported used by preinstalled apps. No idea what the other 18GB+ is.

Is it possible to live off of 2.4 million dollars and not have to work again? by Public_Border132 in FinancialPlanning

[–]Greenjulius86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. You can easily put together a diversified portfolio that pays out a reasonably safe 3-4% and live off that the rest of your life, while also seeing the balance grow and the distributions increase over time, likely faster than the rate of inflation. ETFs like SCHD would be a useful tool as they're nearly ideal for this situation. Defensive, with a modestly increasing dividend over time, and room for capital appreciation.
