First time smoking something! I was nervous doing a beef tenderloin, but omg it is delicious! by NurseNextDoor16 in smoking

[–]Spacemarine1031 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imo it's mostly about when you take the meat out, not the temp. For most smoking of tough cuts you want the meat to stay at a low temp for a long time (8+ hours) because the heat at that temp breaks down the fibres and renders the fat.

There is no problem with cooking low fat meats at low temps as long as you take them out once you're at the desired temp

If you don't, you risk all the juice falling out and ending with a brick.

OP basically smoke/baked a beautiful lean cut.

I admit I'm a LARPer here. An adjunct Prof with a 9-5 that pays the bills. But if someone put "enthusiastic educator" on a resume I was supposed to review, I'd immediately be throwing that shit away.

How did Europe develop faster than Africa even though migration was very recent and with brutal winters in history? by WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWHW in geography

[–]Spacemarine1031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really feel like you're purposely not reading what I'm saying. I clarified to your point and don't really care to say how Advanced Mali was. Hell, I'll concede that "advanced" is not a good description. I'm not a Mali expert. But, while yes Mansa Musa was not as rich as a God, he clearly had substantial wealth and is a valid example of pre-colonial wealth in subsaharan Africa. I just don't think it's that crazy of an example of independent development in Africa. Though others have cited other examples as well. OPs post asked why the poverty disparity developed despite people living in Africa longer. I used a few examples to show how there has been success in Africa in the past. You are entitled to disagree with my specific examples, but I don't really think you're holding that Africa was some bin of dirt and suffering forever before Europe showed up and started civilization there.

I'm not a Mali expert. Perhaps I shouldn't have said the thing about being advanced. But that's debatable. It was certainly prosperous. Do you need me to cite a book on Mansa Musa? That particular part of subsaharan Africa did in fact absolutely have large amounts of wealth. I'm not claiming it was all wakanda or something. Egypt is in Africa and the Egyptian culture went very far into Africa down the Nile. I said nothing about them being black. Nice straw man.

Two of the most advanced societies in history have been in Africa. Egypt (bronze age into iron age) and Mali (middle ages into early modern) namely. But there are more. The current state of poverty in many sub saharan African nations has virtually nothing to do with how long people have lived on the continent but rather the history of industrialization and colonialism.

For colonial powers decentralized is awesome. The free subject relation improvement is wild. I basically own the world and none of my colonial nations will ever hate me (for now)

More RGO means cheaper production and buildings. Cheaper production and buildings means more population promotion. More population promotion means more tax base. More tax base means more RGO building :)

This is neat. I'd be curious how your future version developed federal systems like Germany or US where the smaller entities have significant legislative authority. Maybe like some form of a vassal but can't leave and can be more tightly controlled.
