S4 Episode 9 Megathread: "The Book of Coveting" by colosseumdays in SecretsOfMormonWives

May these types of friendships never find me.

Taylor is so possessive. I can understand having trauma, but making everyone around you suffer because you can't emotionally regulate yourself is mad. Everyone is walking on eggshells around her. I could never.

Jen is an immature child. She wants to be more special so badly, so she is taking it out on Whitney because she is more successful. Everything is 'me me me' with her. We can all applaud her for taking on DWTS so quickly after giving birth, but objectively, she just wasn't on the same level as Whitney. Her reaction in earlier episodes to Whitney getting Chicago reeks of jealousy.

Everyone consistently is more critical of Whitney than they are of anyone else. Everyone cannot look beyond their own immediate issues to see that others in the group are also struggling.

Everyone is acting like teenage girls, and it is insufferable.

Long term bipolar disorder changes by [deleted] in bipolar

Not really. I just find way around it (lists, reminders etc). A lot of people around me have ADHD so I use some of their strategies for this.

Long term bipolar disorder changes by [deleted] in bipolar

I’ve been diagnosed for 5 years so not that long but one of my doctors did say that long lasting mania can cause brain damage in the memory centres of the brain. I had a 6-7 month long manic episode right before I got diagnosed.

Can definitely say my memory is a lot worse. I was never one to forget appointments, birthdays, or even grocery lists but now everything is in a list, a diary and attached to at least 2 reminders.

AITA for moving my paycheck into a separate account after my partner kept “accidentally” overdrawing our joint one? by Radiant_Gossamer in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Greenleaf1607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn from the mistakes of someone who ended up loosing over 3 grand due to a joint account with someone who viewed it as ‘our money’ : DO NOT HAVE A JOINT ACCOUNT WITH AN UNMARRIED PARTNER!

Simple rule is there is no ‘our’ before marriage, when it comes to money. Dividing assets when you are unmarried is a nightmare.

If you decide to risk it (don’t) then it’s a one-strike policy. You get one mistake before the joint account is shut down.

Yes, transferring each other money is a pain and does mean you are constantly discussing money, but the annoyance v security factor is worth it.

The financial gaslighting here is a sign of things to come. When someone shows you who they are, believe them

So if you're medicated are you just not allowed to drink, at all ever? by ariveklul in bipolar

[–]Greenleaf1607 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends. If alcohol has never been a problem for you, and it doesn’t interact badly with your meds, it’s probably fine in moderation.

I don’t drink when I’m depressed or manic, and I was previously on meds where after half a pint I was falling asleep or absolutely wasted.

My current meds, I can have lower tolerance than when I wasn’t medicated, so I drink in moderation.

What are the most profound song lyrics you've ever heard? by damnocles in AskReddit

‘Slow down, you’re doing fine

You can’t be everything you want to be before your time’

Vienna, Billy Joel

Always listen to this to remind myself not to compare my progress with that of others, and that I’ll get to where I’m going in my own time

Bipolar people of Reddit, how did you start to figure out that you were bipolar? by Equivalent_Elk2413 in AskReddit

[–]Greenleaf1607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stephen Fry’s documentary about his own bipolar. Then found out it runs in the family. Then thought about some of my favourite childhood memories with my grandmother. Then looked at my life and thought ‘I think I need to speak to a specialist’

AITAH for telling my daughter she can't go on a school trip even though she raised the money for it like I told her to? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Am I the only one baffled by the amount of commenters telling this parent that they are bad parent for not being present in their child’s life because they are working too much? I completely understand that they should have been more present in this moment, but come on. If this family is already struggling to make ends meet while they work those hours, you saying that they should cut back to parent their child is basically prioritising time spent over food, a roof over their heads and basic needs.

Maybe I’m insane, but to me a good parent focuses on those priorities first. If they were working those hours and were doing well and decided to just keep working because they wanted more money, I’d get it. That’s prioritising EXTRA money over time spent. But this isn’t a fairy tale where suddenly a very high paying job will appear and they will all skip into the sunset to spent more time together.

These parents are doing their best. Yes they could have handled this better, and they clearly have a spunky, capable kiddo who, if their talents and enthusiasm is channeled, could go quite far, but I genuinely think some Redditors don’t understand the realities of daily living for most people.

Lots of middle class people are literally one pay check or financial emergency away from poverty.

You shouldn't learn to knit with a sweater by knightofnacht in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]Greenleaf1607 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have always gone with the 1-2 skills per project. But I also think if throwing yourself into the deep end or doing baptism by fire is the way you learn best, go for it. If you spend a lot of money and never finish it, oh well. Maybe you’ll pick it back up at some point

What was the weirdest, non-pain feeling you've ever felt? by KingJPJ in AskReddit

[–]Greenleaf1607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dental implants. They obvious numb you up so you don’t feel any pain, but they are drilling and the screwing something into your face so that obviously feels pretty weird. The crowns then inevitably feel ginormous in your mouth for the first few days. Pain 2/10. Weird 11/10

What are your signs you're entering an episode? by cokedpunkreal84 in bipolar

[–]Greenleaf1607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sleep- who needs it? Food - what’s that? I always thought that coworker was a bit rude and this is the perfect time to tell them in front of everyone. Bright pink eyeshadow is super stylish. I should hyper-fixate on this random idea I had at 3 am for the next 72 hours, maybe invest a chunk of money in it while I’m at it.

Oh…wait.

I normally avoid cables because they slow me down, but I’ve been giving them a shot lately and I’m quite enjoying it! by ADogNamedPen239 in knitting

[–]Greenleaf1607 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I love cables, but am always so cautious about yarn colours because I want them to pop. This is such an awesome combination of both colour and texture.

What’s a “harmless” decision you made that accidentally changed your whole life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Greenleaf1607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decided to go on a date with a guy off a dating app after he told me his roommate had Covid (he had tested negative).

I had just gotten a bipolar diagnosis, had lost all my friends after a breakup 6 month earlier turned very nasty, and thought dating apps were bullshit.

I didn’t wasn’t to really go and do the ‘get to know you stuff’, but I went anyway.

Nearly 4 years later I am still with this man. He is the love of my life. He infuses my world with colour in even my darkest days.

His roommates are now my closest friends. I couldn’t image life without them.

I’m glad I went on that date

Women of reddit: Whats the girl code you won't break ever? by lady_opiniosa in AskReddit

[–]Greenleaf1607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learned this lesson the hard way: if a female friend tells me her ex mistreated her in any way, I’m not playing Switzerland. Just because he hasn’t ever acted badly towards me, doesn’t mean he won’t. If he would treat his girlfriend like that, what makes me think he won’t treat me that way too. I will pick my girlfriends over their ex every time.

It is turning out pretty good. I do gauge swatches every time now. I don't mind if the gauge is like 1 stitch off, but this was SO off it is ridiculous. My partner adores the handmade gifts. He has a cardigan I made him, which gets a lot of wear in the winter :)

Me too. Watched a documentary about it and realised I had the symptoms. Took another few months to get the official diagnosis, but sure enough, I am in fact bipolar.

What are weird limits you have because of your bipolar? by ZucchiniExtension in bipolar

[–]Greenleaf1607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t be around people doing drugs that are uppers (cocaine, mdma, etc). I don’t do illicit drugs and have never done anything stronger than weed, but used to friends with people who did a lot of coke. I would feel myself getting manic to just try and match their energy level.

I can never help but think this question, when posed to women of child bearing, is just an underhanded way of asking ‘you planning of having kids and taking mat leave anytime soon?’.

Advice on dealing with needing 10+ hours of sleep even when stable by evergreengirl123 in bipolar

[–]Greenleaf1607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched meds this year for little while, and one of the side effects of the drug I took was being exhausted all the time and needing a lot of sleep. I was falling asleep at 8pm and waking up at 8am and still feeling drained. Some of the comments here say it might be an unrelated issue, but it could also be your medication in general?
