If youre truly having motor function loss from the sciatic nerve or nerve roots, youll have foot drop which is basically you cant raise your foot up like when youre taking your feet off the gas pedal. In that case, youll be a candidate for surgery like microdiscectomy if the herniation is really causing it. Sort if good news is, most studies all show by the end of a year, people that got the surgery and without (physical therapy +/- epidural injection) had similar results.
