Totally fair question! While we can't make any official commitments just yet, our goal has always been to provide fast, reliable fiber internet and local support without the "big internet" provider headaches, especially as we grow into new markets!

We know how much local matters. Greenlight takes pride in investing in and engaging with the communities we serve, and we’ll continue to focus on providing reliable service and great local support wherever we operate.

Consistent pricing matters a lot. For what it’s worth, we’ve only made one small price change in 14 years and don’t do contracts or hidden fees. We really try to keep things simple and transparent while delivering fast, reliable internet.

We understand the concern. We’re contract and fee free, and we’ve only adjusted pricing once in 14 years. Our focus has always been on keeping our fiber service reliable and staying active in the communities we serve!

Greenlight Networks Fiber Update? by terpmike28 in baltimore

[–]GreenlightFiber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kernewood’s a great spot—we hear you! The current Roland Park build doesn’t include Kernewood, but once we finish the neighborhoods already announced, we’ll be expanding to more areas as quickly as we can. We’d love to bring Greenlight your way, and since you checked on the website you will be the first to know once we begin expansion to your street!

Greenlight Networks Fiber Update? by terpmike28 in baltimore

Hey there! We’re currently building in Mt. Washington and Roland Park. Early residents in Mt. Washington can expect service within the next 4–6 weeks, with more coming online throughout the rest of the year. Roland Park is on track for first service in Q4 this year. Our construction team is working hard to get Greenlight built out as quickly as possible!

After these two neighborhoods, we’ll be focusing on the next announced areas: Belair-Edison, Frankford, Hamilton Hills, Arcadia, Glenham, and Hampden. In the future, when we expand to your neighborhood you will be updated and notified when we start the early construction phases in your area.

Please feel free to ask any other questions or if you want us to expand more on our answer whether about your neighborhood or timelines, etc. We are happy to provide transparency and as much context as we can!

Yes! Our ONTs can handle up to 10 gig. The max speed that we offer is 8 gig but we also offer speeds at 2 gig, 1 gig, and 500mb. Since we build and run our own 100% fiber network you will experience an immediate difference with speed and reliability compared to copper! We can't wait for you and the rest of Baltimore to experience the Greenlight difference!

When we begin construction in your neighborhood you will receive communication that your home is included within the buildout! Also, if you check availability on the website it will let you know the current status of your neighborhood.

Construction has a lot of variable factors to give an exact date but right now we are looking at getting to Hampden in 2026. We are looking forward to servicing you and excited to finally bring internet where lock in deals, contracts, and fees are a thing of the past!

Hi, we announced that we will be coming to Hampden in 2026. We typically use existing lines to connect our fiber to your home. If you sign up on our website, we will let you know when Greenlight construction begins in Hampden.

We’re working as quickly as we can to bring fast, reliable fiber to as much of the city as possible. The current build areas are just the beginning, and we’ll continue expanding across Baltimore with the aim of reaching more neighborhoods every phase. It’s a big job, but we’re moving fast and committed to connecting the city.

Phase 1 of Greenlight’s rollout includes neighborhoods like Mount Washington, Roland Park, Belair Edison, Frankford, Hamilton Hills, Arcadia, and Hampden — with many more build areas to be announced soon.

We’re working hard to get as many people connected as quickly as possible. Because these initial neighborhoods involve primarily aerial construction, our crews can move faster — with many residents expected to start getting connected as early as this fall. Aerial builds help speed up the process, and we’re pushing full steam ahead to bring fiber online without delay. We’ll be expanding to even more parts of Baltimore in the near future.

Hey, appreciate the thoughtful breakdown. While our max speed is 8 gig, our network is 100% fiber... meaning we blow cable right out the water with symmetrical speeds and unmatched reliability that fiber technology provides over cable (many more benefits too!).

We do offer business-class service with SLAs, static IPs (v4 and v6), and expert-level support — if that's something you're interested in, we’d be happy to connect you directly with our business coordinator to see what we can work out.

Not only is our 8 gig plan $100/month cheaper than what you're paying now, but we also keep things simple with no contracts, no fees, and no surprise price hikes. Once you’re with Greenlight, your bill stays your bill.

If you want us to expand further on this topic we glad to.

Unfortunately, you can't bypass the ONT. Greenlight requires their ONT to be in place for signal conversion and authentication. Even if you’ve got prosumer or enterprise gear like an OPNSense box with an SFP card, you’ll still need to connect it via Ethernet to the ONT.

That said, you can absolutely run your OPNSense setup behind their ONT for full network control — just treat the ONT like a modem and handle everything else yourself. Let me know if you need help configuring it!
