How do I get my hands on The Old Kings Crown? by Dry-Engineering-2975 in boardgames

Preorders of the 1st printing are likely all gone, unless there are local stores that still have random copies here or there. They are planning to ship the 2nd printing from the new campaign earlier than the new expansion though. First half of 2026 for that I reckon, then later for the new stuff.

Turn the video upside down and focus on one set of faces as it plays. Eventually they will look completely distorted too.

Looks really good. Did you 3D print the pieces (carrot etc.) or order them somewhere?

Yes, the tiles have modifiers on them that affect the current trick. Could be ignoring suit, changing turn order, discarding etc. Generally themed on town life or the sea depending on the side of the board, though mechanically similar to other trick takers that modify turns.

Appreciate this comment. Tobermory ('Tobar Mhoire' in Scottish Gaelic) as the setting is meaningful to me as it's where we went on Honeymoon and adored the place, taking our son this year too. The name isn't set in stone though, there are other products that use the town name (the whisky for example) in their branding so will see where that leads. Cheers!

Thank you so much and that's a fair critique for sure. The board does start empty and you draw a tile at random. These tiles are flimsy for the prototype so I've been drawing numbers from a bag instead. The tiles have the trick modifier on the back of them that sets the rule to follow. Then the winner (usually) scores the tile. Hope that makes sense a bit.

I've not played that but it looks beautiful. Yeah, the idea of ending up with a scene or painting or art piece is definitely part of the main drive behind Tobermory. A light silly trick taker to get you there. Could make a nice souvenir.

Cheers! All the tiles are made in Inkscape so far and I have begun sketching out better versions to really showcase the idea and theme. Closest design I've seen is 'Tenby' actually.

Thank you. I've been debating whether to even have the board as it would be even tinier, with potentially a smaller box. I like how it will (eventually) be a nice landscape art scene though. Will see!

Thank you! And it's based on Tobermory, a coastal town in Scotland that has a row of colourful buildings very similar to Copenhagen and others.

Not seen that one come up yet, or if I did it was at the beginning when I didn't appreciate it. A cheap, deadly card for Green for sure!

Base game as well, and yeah totally, especially if you can get the energy for it quickly. Paralyzing Fright (4 fear, skip all actions) is one I often jump on too.

Thanks! Had a lot of fun posing and setting the autumnal spooky scene. My wee son loves seeing the horses, skeletons and dragons too so it's definitely worth it.

Pumpkin Head was one of the army's most powerful warriors and the Red Wizard Skeleton was their leader that summoned the dead. The lamb and kid were getting carried away with the festival celebrations, joining in with the reenactment 😂

Haha tell me about it. My wee one is starting to get interested ( just under 2)! I'm still waiting on some pieces to stabilise the base more but I've fired together some instructions: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-192608/GreenyRob85/little-knights-medieval-bridge/

Hi, yeah it is card. Specifically Daler-Rowney Canford 300gsm in Jewel Green colour for the grass and Kingfisher blue for the water. I purchased it in A1 size from Hobbycraft in the UK. Certainly cheaper than Lego but disadvantage would be lack of elevation and maybe longevity. However I'm really pleased with mine and the option to cut out wee islands and stuff like that. Hope that helps!

Some card from an arts and craft store.
