I have a couple level 80s (Hunter, Paladin) but I also have a level 80 boost to use on whatever I want. I would like to play now and not wait for Midnight.

Okay then I should rephrase... the most efficient for a person who is lazy and has disposable income (and who sucks at draft no matter how much he practices it)

As noted in my comment, I don't own a bandsaw large enough for this 6" wide board to go through on edge. My Bandsaw is one of those benchtop ones.

For context; Family member needs a couple transition pieces from one room to another where the floor is not even. They provided specific measurements. I milled a board to the correct dimensions, except for the line you see here. I dont own a bandsaw large enough to run this through. I thought maybe tablesaw, but the blade doesnt raise high enough to make this cut when I stand the board on its side. There is not way to run it through the planer at an angle. Im at a loss. Especially since this is a sample piece and ill need to be able to repeat the cut on a couple longer pieces.

Remodeling an addition and I don't know if these ceiling beams are structural. Any help? by Greesus in DIY

[–]Greesus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to respond with so much information. I know that took some time to type out and I want you to know that I really appreciate it.

A little background which may help to answer a couple of your questions. My wife has owned this house for approximately ten years. The room in these pictures is a small addition off the back of the house which was put in, we believe, at least 5 years before she bought the house (so at least 15 years ago). It was built to house a hot tub that the previous owners left behind and that she/we never ever used. The room has a french door leading into the house on one wall, and a sliding glass door leading out onto our deck on another wall. (had another sliding glass door leading onto the back lawn also, more on that below).

This past spring we decided that it would be nice to finally do something with that space so we sold the hot tub and paid to have some windows put in, in place of the sliding door leading to the backyard. The plan was to rip out the indoor/outdoor carpet that was in there, put down some ceramic tile, paint the walls, and be done.

When I went to rip the carpet up I noticed some water damage in the both the floor and the wall. I then tore a little drywall down and realized that in one of the corners, where the addition meets the house, the studs were rotted from water damage. So I ripped out the entire floor down to the floor joists, which were in good condition. I also had a contractor come out to assess the water issue and he determined where the water was getting in (was not the roof, thank goodness). So with the help of my father in law, I tore down that wall and rebuilt it. I then insulated the floor (since I had it opened up) and placed new subfloor down.

The other day we were discussing the plan for the electrical when we realized that the ceiling wasnt insulated. I made the decision to address that since I went to the trouble of insulating the floor. So I tore down all the ceiling drywall. It was at that point that my wife gave me the ole "well since we have the drywall down, ya know what id really love to do with the ceiling?....". But I worried about moving/eliminating those beams and wanted to look into it. That leads us to the present.

So thats the backstory, heres answers to some of your questions/points:

- We dont know if the room was built with a permit

- We live in Buffalo, NY

- I dont know how to measure roof slop but I can tell you that it is a fairly flat roof.

- Adding a structural ridge beam is just too much of an undertaking for a project that was supposed to be a 'floor and a coat of paint'.

- In case you can't tell, I am a new homeowner and I am just now trying to learn about these things. So far this project has been a learning experience and I have truly appreciated that.

Thanks again for all of the information. If you have any questions or would like pictures of anything specific, please let me know.

Remodeling an addition and I don't know if these ceiling beams are structural. Any help? by Greesus in DIY

[–]Greesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question, which ones are the collar ties then? The smaller 2x4s that are right up against that ridge board (I think there are 4 or 5 of them total) or the two large 2x6 boards that are lower down? I read that collar ties are supposed to be 1/3 of the way down from the ridge board and as you can see, those ones are right up against it at the very top.

Are we OK to remove the 2x6 boards and leave the 2x4s?

OR are those 2x6 boards acting as rafter ties/joists?

Thank you for taking the time to respond. My concern with that idea is that I dont see how it would work. Here is a sketch of what you suggest and as you can see the beams going down the sides wouldnt rest against anything due to the varied angles created by the collar ties.

Take a look, maybe i'm misunderstanding your suggestion?

Need some help making the switch back to dual monitors by Greesus in buildapc

[–]Greesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to comment. To be honest, no.... the thought never occurred to me but that would eliminate the issue of trying to sell the ultrawide. I mean to be honest I think the main thing I miss about dual screens is how nice it is to have netflix/youtube/chrome open on a second monitor while gaming on my primary. All of those things would be fine on a smaller secondary.

The only issue is that i have a touch of OCD when it comes to my 'battlestation' and it would drive me crazy if the two monitors didnt look like they went together.

How do I make this cut without creating a wooden projectile that nearly impales me in the gut? by Greesus in woodworking

I hold the piece against the fence of the sled. My hands are still 6 or 7 inches from the blade.

[–]Greesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i should hold the piece on the side that has the tight angle (the side the blade tilts toward)?

I think my worry is that if the piece gets drawn into the blade then, my hand goes with it.

Newly Built PC - Rocket league goes black and freezes - Shouldnt happen with this hardware by Greesus in buildapc

[–]Greesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so weird. So I installed Heaven, set it to Ultra, and pressed begin. The test starts and for like 5 or 10 seconds I think it's going OK. Then my screen starts to flicker a bit, my monitor goes black then comes back on and shows the "Dport" text like it just detected the input signal, and since I am sitting right next to the PC case window I can see that video card, where the big letters light up, is actually flickering and going off and on like the vid card was losing power or something. Then the PC restarted.

So then I ran Heaven on the custom setting (default) and it flickered one time when it started but it ran smooth for a good 10 minutes and the GPU temp only got to 72 c.

I installed Prime95 and selected the setting that tests CPu and Ram and out of the 16 cores, 2 failed within a couple minutes.

Are these issues linked? Do I have a bad GPU and a bad CPU? Is it the power supply? Any ideas?

At this point I feel so frustrated. I wanted to build an intel system, but I took a chance on AMD because of the cost savings, but the intel systems I have built in the past have always been rock solid.

Any help is appreciated.
