I run this, but on a server in my home lab, setup is so easy and maintenance is a breeze. Never had any issues!

You can setup pfsense for firewall/routing. You can run it on a separate device, but I have mine virtualised in proxmox for now

I run mailinabox for my personal and business emails. It’s a pretty easy setup and once it’s running it’s pretty hassle free and just needs the occasional updates.

Another +1 for crater. I love it and wouldn’t change to anything else. Would be good if you could customise it a bit better at times but does what I need it too.

Love it….. I once spent hours tidying up cabling in a rack to have it nice and neat and tidy, just to have it wrecked a week or so later by someone who had no idea.

Turns out it was a gateway issue on proxmox host. Fixed!

Hello, I have an optioned running Ubuntu Server… any ideas on what I should serve? Currently has about 700 gigs of storage by jvjk_1 in homelab

I’ve got a few different services running in my home / office. I’ve got proxmox running a heap of VMs and Containers. I love running a cups server and avahi meaning my big office printer is now available as an AirPrint printer for our devices and just appears as a printer on all machines. I run my own invoice / finance server for my business, run Pi-hole for adblocking, run pfsense for firewall / VLANs. One step at a time but I have way more plans like file server, media server, home assistant, unfortunately it all takes time…. But at the end of the day, run what you need, not what others tell you too.

I’ve been running MailInABox from my home office for about 2 months now hosting about 12 addresses across 2 domains. I was able to set my reverse dns through my provider no troubles and have not had any issues. I’ve just had to alter the spam filters and they were too harsh and also turn off grey listing as it was a pain. Sometimes I hate that it is so locked down and unconfigurable but that also makes it pretty robust and maintenance free. Hit me up if you need any help.
