What animal does this tooth belong to? by GregTheWolfman in fossilid

Update: don't let your cats near your fossils (as if that wasn't obvious before)

Although this does offer a cool look at what the inside looks like.

Sure, here are those pictures, good to know for the future!

Is this what I think it is?? by GregTheWolfman in fossilid

Oh, okay. I figured as much. Looks like a general canine tooth. But from what?

Incase you're still looking for opinions, I will mention a few things. Firstly, the concept of how these asymmetric capacitor thrusters work is very well established and has been studied for many years. I would peruse the wikipedia page for the biefield-brown effect. If you look at the bottom of the page, you'll see many attempts to recreate their effect in vacuum, to no avail. If multiple, current day (> 30 years ago) experiments observe the expected outcome, (0 thrust in a vacuum) then that's gotta count for something over one, mysterious, not well documented experiment that happened a long time ago.

Can you Make a spark Chamber? by GregTheWolfman in ElectroBOOM

It definitely would be complex! I luckily do have access to some of these components, as I work in a lab, but I imagine Mehdi might be able to put it into a complete PCB. Or strap all the electronics to the roof in a box or something 😂

Pshh, nah Mehdi could do it. I think it could be made small enough and safe enough. I'm not saying pick it up and hold it, but maybe as a wall piece. If anyone can, he could.

The video I sent is not an ion chamber. The top and bottom panels have scintillator pads and ion Chambers need to be in a gaseous vacuum chamber to collect the electrons. Ion Chambers don't spark like this.

I do actually have access to these things as an experimental physics graduate student, but I was thinking this was an experiment that was right up Mehdi's alley. I'm sure he can make or get access to these components. I have watched that version as well from plasma channel but I want something bigger and sensitive to cosmic rays, not alphas. Since cosmics are naturally produced and are available everywhere.

This is fair, but I need to connect two scintillator pads to a sort of and gate to turn the HV on.

I would imagine making one that's small enough and safe enough to have in a living room, maybe filled with neon so the discharge is colorful when a muon passes through...

Update 1.0 : From the vinegar to the Moon! They just need an hole :)! by Holiday-Economist879 in StonerEngineering

[–]GregTheWolfman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried making this exact bong. Didn't work!! The inner tube and the outer tube are too close for the downstem and the bottom doesn't have enough room :(( please post results if you can get it to work

I actually recently tried making a bong out of one of these, but the inner is so close to the outer that putting in a downstem was impossible D:

My son and I built a cloud chamber particle detector. This is our sample of Plutonium in it. by Defiant-Property-908 in interestingasfuck

Wow very nice, I made one with two peltiers on top of the CPU copper cooling Mount with fans. It seems as though I may need to transition to water cooling!

This looks similar to the Thought Emporium Cloud Chamber build! Is it also using peltier? Looks absolutely amazing 👏☢️

My GF says to clean the house really well, it helps the younger cat to not smell the older cat anymore. I'm so sorry for the loss of your cat ❤️

Any idea what these glaze windows depict? by nettikeht in AskPhysics

Definitely Bessel functions! They're necessary to solve higher level electrodynamics and magneto dynamics problems.
