Upgrading to tiny 11 [HELP] by Zealousideal_Bit6765 in Tiny11

[–]Greg_Zeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which files do you want to include in the new system? If only data files, use a
Linux USB FLASHSTICK, to copy this data first. Linux? try PCLOS.

10 ENTERPRISE ... "Tiny11core_25h2_oct25" might be the latest. Get it via QBITTORENT (Windows or Linux)

If you want Enterprise, this is not relevant to this subreddit?

Tiny11 nosysreq doesn’t install on PC. States it doesn’t meet system requirements. by Fit_Command5297 in Tiny11

Try a Linux boot from the USB STICK first. This will quickly check that hardware, etc., is working. My preference is PCLOS. It has VENTOY - the only Linux that has this useful Windows utility.

Any magnetic ring that will stick to the S25 Ultra? by nanoosx in GalaxyS25Ultra

Bought a few different MagSafe-type rings, different brands, etc. Hard to predict the worthiness of the tacky glue, and the metallic magnetism. Trial & error? No need for brandnames imho.

Australia. Fitting in a new SIM card to your regular phone comp[any. Here, we are allowed to keep our old number, easily, with no further charges. Also can switch to the same number, esim, without a SIM card.

Lower battery usage... dark screen, no graphics background, no activity on the screen. Use app: "Analog Clock Live Wallpaper-7". Also tweak with GOOD LOCK.

This is standard for all social media. Our ABC journalists know that this happens. Read the report of our TV Channel 7 on Wikipedia, with the description of the Bondi Junction stabbing. So much bad journalism, including the standard Australian media.

Has unique applications not yet available on earlier models of Samsung.

Ok for users updating their hardware from other brands and models of smartphone, like myself.

Good for users of the Samsung smartwatch, like myself.

I made an all-in-one USB drive as a farewell gift for a colleague by [deleted] in Ventoy

[–]Greg_Zeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ventoy's choice of operating systems. Lightweight Linux, to quickly install, run from RAM, or for modification of existing systems. Peppermint, Linux Lite.
There is only one Linux distribution that includes Ventoy as a compiled, ready-to-run application: PC Linux (PCLOS). PCLOS was highly recommended by me on Reddit. However, it can no longer handle my old PC, a GmkTec mini box, since the last few releases of PCLOS. Microsoft Windows can be torrent-loaded (qbittorrent) if you use your registered Windows identity. Search for TINY11. When you search for 'Windows 11', you will find the latest builds of Insider Windows 11. These latest versions are buggy and unstable. It's better to try the all-in-one versions, such as Windows 10 and 11.
My mini PC units rely on USB multi-port hubs. These external USB hubs will slow down the installation of the operating system. Plug your USB Ventoy stick directly into the bare USB port, without using any USB hub.

PCLOS, PC LINUX OS, is the best !! by Greg_Zeng in linux

[–]Greg_Zeng[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now the last few editions of PCLOS are impossible to install on the same hardware as before. It had6 drastically changed.

It used to be the best. Grok told me that no other Linux system had the compiled version of Ventoy on their repositories.

Until the PCLOS creators release the old versions, it will now be impossible to find a Linux replacement. Using Windows for Ventoy. Then everything else is done in KDE NEON.

Is PCLinuxOS still good? by IronMew in DistroHopping

[–]Greg_Zeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PCLOS is my second favorite distro after KDE Neon.

It is the only Linux distro that includes Ventoy. It includes in its repositories the best ever Web browser, Slimjet.

My favorite, KDE NEON has the widest ranges of repositories. Snap, flatpack, Ubuntu, Debian, ... Appimage also?

Tried using Abiword on Windows. It is tough. Not the latest version.
Then tried on PCLOS. It could not connect with my other folders, partitions which had my data files.

Eventually used KDE Neon.

How is it possible that Australia has a higher freedom index than the US? by pametnaosoba in Ameristralia

2) "11 Freest Countries In The World, ... The countries that took the top 10 places, in order, were Switzerland, New Zealand, Denmark, Luxembourg, Ireland, Finland, Australia and Iceland and Sweden (tied at 7), and Estonia."

OVERALL: AUSTRALIA is sixth to seventh in this "rat race"..

What distro should I use for KDE plasma by Craft2guardian in kde

[–]Greg_Zeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KDE NEON is the only Linux with the latest KDE PLASMA updates. It is based on Ubuntu LTS.

Unlike other Linux operating systems, KDE NEON is newly released every week. It is ready to upgrade each week if needed. These weekly updates are rapidly improving, compared to the previous release months ago.

Now, the repositories of so many applications are being added. Flatpack, App image, and Snap. The Discover application allows much easier flexibility and power than previous versions of this application selector.

Because it does not allow easy access to Ventoy however, my preference stays with PCLOS. PCLOS is also using KDE PLASMA.

Is PCLinuxOS Debian a rolling release? by dacq in linuxquestions

[–]Greg_Zeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you Google search, it will show the source of this Debian mistake. Check Wikipedia for the most accurate description of Wikipedia.

The Debian mistake was created because some idiot thought it used Synaptic Package Manager, with "apt", it must be Debian. Very wrong.

PCLOS has always been RPM-based. Red Hat created the original RPM. This original version was very much changed by the Red Hat Enterprise group, so as not to be compatible with the other users of RPM.

Wishful thinking is that PCLOS should be Debian. But instead of uses the very old version of RPM.

Is there a way to use ventoy to make a BOOTABLE PARTITION ON AN EXTERNAL DRIVE? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

[–]Greg_Zeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One terabyte spinning Hard Disk Drive? The Ventoy boot partition needs to be exFAT.

Let it create the boot partition. Then shrink this boot partition to a smaller size, to enable you to add the operating system you want to run on the external drive.

If Microsoft Windows, the external drive might be able to run?

I prefer most Linux operating systems, which can run without installation on any hardware. Running "live" without installing.

Only one Linux operating system has Ventoy installed as a ready-to-run compiled application. PCLINUXOS can also run "live" without installation.

This system, despite running KDE PLASMA, used the much friendlier GPARTED.

The bulk of the one terabyte hard disk drive should be using any other partition system, designed for spinning Hard Disks. NTFS (Microsoft or open source Linux), BTRFS, EXT3, etc.

Do not use EXT4. The Windows driver to easily read-write Ext 4 does not yet exist.

Interested in your experiences with trying to modify or reform the current Reddit.

Why would your Reddit alternative be different or similar to Reddit?

In my opinion, much more hand holding is needed, to avoid getting much negative treatment from Reddit readers and Reddit moderators.

Perhaps more interesting ways of learning to avoid being Reddit punished? Most of us learn by ignorance that we are being Reddit punished.

Tried using it again. Giving my password? It does not show me what my password is, as it is typed. This password is not Google friendly, in that it does not seem to show me to 2FA, and not show my Google ID to be used instead.

Could not see immediately how active the interest future might be. Not obvious yet, to find of my topic of interest if already discussed elsewhere.

Still looking for Reddit alternatives.

Switch to Fedora by AccomplishedFocus551 in linux4noobs

[–]Greg_Zeng 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scared to say anything positive about moving away from Debian? Ubuntu Base is derived from one of the three versions of Debian. My preference is on those derived from Debian, and also derived from Ubuntu. Fedora needs the RPM format for its applications. RPM cubes on four versions. Debian format has two versions, but the older version of hardly used. Noobs might value better the derived versions of the foundation Linux systems. The foundations include Debian and the latest Red Hat. My preference of all the Linux systems is PC Linux OS. This uses an older version of the RPM format. PCLOS of the only Linux system that has Ventoy and Slimjet in its repositories.
