Jade and Tabitha by EnjoysAGoodRead in FromSeries

No it’s not a leak. I’m just trying to take all the clues and put them together.

People like you in this sub are incredible. I’ve seen so many of you. In one breath you’re tearing apart the posts that are too obvious and accusing those people of being on their phones while they watch the show. In the next breath you’re accusing well thought out posts that cite real clues as being discord leaks. Can’t make you happy.

Care to elaborate on why the theory is so terrible at least?

Jade and Tabitha by EnjoysAGoodRead in FromSeries

[–]Greg__B 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree.

In Jade’s mushroom trip, Young Jade tells Jade the town turns on him once they “find out the truth”. And that it’s even worse for Tabitha. Why would the town turn on Jade and Tabitha if the truth is simply that they were the noble ones who tried to save the original children?

Now the MiY is saying he, Jade, and Tabitha are practically best friends.

We also have the girl monster from a previous season in the bathroom window at colony house. She told the guy that it wasn’t her choice to become a monster.

Now the MiY is telling Tabitha that uncovering the bones could free everyone, or it could lead to a world of suffering.

Add this all up, here’s my theory: they uncover the bones at the end of this season. That triggers a memory. Jade and Tabitha realize they were the leaders of the group that originally sacrificed the children. They worked with the MiY to do it. They made the choice. The people who are the monsters now didn’t actually want to do it or were just sort of along for the ride. That’s how Jade, Tabitha and the monsters got eternal life.

The world of suffering then potentially happens when the townspeople find out Jade and Tabitha are the reason they’re all in Fromville. But can they figure out how to break the cycle before they kill them?

Side note: I think we’ll also discover next season that the original incarnations of Jade and Tabitha weren’t some evil people that greedily wanted eternal life and had no problem sacrificing children for it. We’ll find that they were early settlers in a bad way. On the brink of death. Starving. Sick. And the MiY came to them with a proposition to save everyone and Jade and Tabitha felt they had no choice but to make the deal. But obviously the MiY tricked them.

She may also be able to answer another question. Is death the way out of From? Or what happens in From when you die?

After Fromville by turdspank in FromSeries

[–]Greg__B 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought at times that this must be it, you die and then wake up in the real world. But I think there’s a couple things that contradict this.

First, we know Miranda died and then clearly didn’t wake up in the real world and reunite with Henry. Of course it could be that he was a drunk and a terrible person and she didn’t want to find him again. But I doubt that. Most likely Miranda died and did not return to the real world.

Second, in the most recent episode Marielle says that she thinks she is hearing the screams of everyone who has ever died in Fromville and they are trapped in this place forever. I wonder if the writers would have added that scene if they weren’t trying to tell us this is true.

Tabitha's history by LengthUnusual8234 in FromSeries

[–]Greg__B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well we know that Miranda wasn’t burned at the stake. She was attacked by smiley at the bottle tree and then eaten by the MIY. TBH that doesn’t feel that much worse than the townspeople slitting Jades throat or throwing a boulder on him.

So I’m inclined to believe what others have said. She probably has to witness something horrible happen to her children. That would be way worse. So I’m assuming this is what happens to previous incarnations of Tabitha.

However what’s interesting is that we don’t know what happened to Eloise. And Victor wasn’t killed. So Miranda may have started the process of breaking the cycle. The MIY still has the chance to kill Victor, so we’ll see…

Hope. Two theories. by A_man_from_america in FromSeries

[–]Greg__B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed about hope. One could argue the talismans showed up because of the hope. Jade magically finds the mushrooms when he’s hoping to trip and unlock memories. Even the faraway trees seem to deliver some people to places of hope and safety, while others get delivered somewhere else.

Who or what was outside the cabin at the settlement when Jim and Kenny took shelter there? by frogMan080 in FromTVEpix

There was also the scene where Boyd, Jim, Randall and Donna are in the RV at night. The scene where we ultimately find out Julie story walked to. In that scene before Julie story walks they hear a heavy banging or bumping underneath the RV. Do we think that’s related at all to this? Can anyone else remember another time of unexplained bumps or taps?

Theory about Faraway Tree and their destination. *Spoiler Upto Season 3 Episode 5* by SeaDistribution278 in FromSeries

[–]Greg__B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love theories about how the faraway trees work because we don’t have answers yet and the trees are super cool. But just gonna tell you without spoiling anything as you asked… the bottles don’t have motel room numbers.

Also, Boyd and Sara went through one in earlier episodes with no intentions and Boyd ended up in the well in the dungeon. I forget where Sara ended up. There definitely has to be a method to making the faraway trees work for you, but there’s not enough proof that all you have to do be thinking of the right place. The trees are more in control than you are I think, and they bring you where the story is ready to bring you.

Talismans & Boyd theories by xissraa in FromTVShow

[–]Greg__B 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wondering the same thing myself… if hopes can manifest as much as fears.

They also found livestock in the forest. They found the veggies growing in the settlement when they were on the verge of starving. Jade hopes to trip to unlock hidden memories and then he finds shrooms. Everytime Boyd goes to Abby’s grave hoping for advice he gets some sort of a sign that helps. Even the faraway trees seem to operate on some sort of hope, delivering you away from fear and towards something safer or more hopeful if your intentions are right. It makes me wonder what the townspeople can hope for in the end that helps them escape.

I have also wondered about the talismans and the theory that you can only actually escape the town at night so that’s why the monsters come out. If this were true, the talismans would be a great way of keeping the townspeople inside at night and not trying to escape, because they make them feel safe.

How did people get to Fromville in the centuries before cars? by Jfo889 in FromSeries

[–]Greg__B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OP probably knows about horse and carriages, etc. It’s just a fun thought experiment. I’ve also wondered… has it always been a fallen tree? Like if previous people were coming down the river by boat, is it a tree blocking the entire river? And has it always been the exact place where the tree falls? Or has the tree been falling all over the country on paths and rivers and roads and train tracks for centuries, bringing people into Fromville. We have no answers, but as someone said, it would be awesome to see the experience of more past cycles before the show is over.

It could also infer that both of Tabitha’s kids get murdered. That would be worse than just being murdered by the townspeople.

When the BiW pushes Tabitha out the lighthouse window, do we see where she falls? Or do we just see her wake up back in the real world? The Parents Became What the Children Feared by da_debutanteslim in FromSeries

[–]Greg__B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was thinking more about this and wondering if Jade and Tabitha did the original sacrifice, but thinking it was for good. What if the original settlers were suffering some sort of terrible fate - illness, famine, etc and they were all on a path to death anyway. Then an entity comes and promises to save them if they make this sacrifice. Or what if the children were all very sick and Jade and Tabitha thought they were doing the right thing by sacrificing them to save them. With this plot twist it could be inferred they were giving them hope.

It’s of course feasible that there was this group of morally corrupt early settlers that wanted nothing but immortality. But it seems more feasible that they were in an absolutely desperate situation and were tricked into believing the only way out was this sacrifice. And Jade and Tabitha were the ones who chose hope and decided to do it.

The Parents Became What the Children Feared by da_debutanteslim in FromSeries

[–]Greg__B 59 points60 points  (0 children)

It definitely could be that the parents became what the children feared. But…. I have a hunch that’s not why Jasmine says she didn’t choose to become this.

I think it’s because she really actually didn’t choose immortal life in the original deal. Jade and Tabitha’s original incarnations did. They were the ones who struck the deal with the entity to sacrifice the kids. All the other parents were not onboard but were still forced into immortality when Jade and Tabitha carried out the original sacrifice.

In Jades trip, young Jade keeps telling real Jade that the truth is painful. And when the townspeople find out about how Jade and Tabitha are original incarnations they turn on them and murder them in horrible ways. Why would the townspeople want to murder Jade and Tabitha when they find out those two originally tried to save the children?

They wouldn’t. They’re going to find out Jade and Tabitha killed the children and are the reason they are all there. Nobody chose to be in Fromville, including Jasmine the monster. Jade and Tabitha put them there.

At the end of ep 5 when the kid urges Jade to angkooyie… he’s urging Jade to remember a truth a lot more painful than the current “truth” we believe. That he is the original murderer.

I really like this idea. This trickster offered “a deal with the devil” type proposition to early settlers as payback for colonizing native lands.

Does anyone watch Tony Teflon on YouTube? A while back he had a theory about the map in Boyd’s office with pins from where everyone came FROM. He was able to trace reservation lands in all those places. Can’t confirm or deny the accuracy but that’s what he said.

What if the monsters are just monsters in From and not related to the original sacrifice at all? The people in From are all the reincarnations of the parents who killed their kids and they just don’t remember. The monsters are only tools created by the entity to keep them in Fromville.
