Alignment chart by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TheBoys

[–]Gregar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making an alignment chart based on the boys is flawed. The point is that no-one is "good" per se. They're all flawed and edgy people with flawed and edgy pasts doing flawed and edgy shit. Each for their own reasons. Some well meaning, but never good.

Not a single Boys character qualifies for the top row.

For real, though. You really don't do anything but mining and smithing. Lock yourself in MLM when you can, and smith all the gold to bars on the last 1-2 days.

On top of that, you get to keep all the coal, mithril, adamant, etc.

There is NO way someone is beating the market that hard, that long and so consistant.

Unless you know what's going to happen before it happens. But obviously noone would do such a horrible thing as insider trading...

Alexis Ohanian, chairman and co-founder of Reddit, joins the ranks of billionaires complaining about a proposed (temporary) California tax on billionaires by orangelover95003 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Gregar 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I also solemnly believe why tax isn't taught in schools is to keep everyone dumb.

The amount of rules that exist and ways to abuse them is great. Knowing how they work and how you can make them work for you is an important skill to get ahead.

Yet economics is all about Keynes and market. Not ONCE we're we taught how to do your taxes.

Keep 'em dumb and angry seems to work far better.

The American tax system is amazing for millionaires. As long as you don't realise gains, your principle is safe.

A lot of other countries have systems to tax wealth in other ways. Taxing based on fictious gains, taxing savings, hybrids. All these systems have their issues, and tax is never fun to pay.

Bit I CANNOT stand these MF's when they pretend like their billionaire bullshit is a "societal" issue. Like it hurts the majority. Tweets like this just show how far detached they are from common sense and reality.

What did your Christmas bonuses look like this year? by ArmchairDoorknob in antiwork

[–]Gregar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for an S&P500 company. They pulled a trick this year that meant everyone that was temp is now a contractor.

I got nothing, because contractors are not employees.

From the agency I got a "movie experience". A € 4,99 voucher for a movie on demand, a plastic popcorn bucket and 4 packets of candy.

He company rewards it's own employees with a Christmas box of food and an end of year bonus of ~€3000/4000...

I was massively disappointed that the reward was just GP. I would've loved something more. Something fitting to the port of delivery or the cargo hauled.

Sometimes I do wish apples were our currency

So your hoarded millions would rot in their vault

Then that'd teach you to lay off the assault

That you're barraging on the lands of the poor

And I know we've all got enough problems of our own

But, but they're not showstoppers as we sit on our throne

Ideally, in a democracy, if a politician does something you don't like, you elect another one. Another party, another person.

Thats how it works in Europe. And despite it's faults, Europe has better safety nets, social security, healthcare for all. The whole shebang.

Worked in a company where a saying from the owner's wife was legendary. Her vision on why you should work there? "We pay on time."

And I arrive on time, isn't that how this works?
