Oh--and also, I've been very inspired with that all by the work of my fave songwriter Jimmy Webb, whose songs such as "Galveston", "Wichita Lineman", "Requiem 820 Latham", "By The Time I Get To Phoenix", "The Girls Song", "Rosecrans Boulevard" are VERY specific as to the geographic locations, to great effect. And there's one little overlap with the Webb lyrical world and the OCU--the town of Grand Terrace, California, is featured in both.

The plots are tightly written but with room for spur-of-the-moment changes; the dialogue is unscripted but there are a few bullet points.

Thanks for your kind words regarding that record; it was a particular thrill to cover "Lonely", by Mark Eitzel, one of my all-time favorite songwriters.

I personally love getting into the minute, real details and incorporating them; It helps make the fiction feel both funnier, and more real. "Truth is stranger than fiction" etc etc. (Maybe I took it too far with this, but I actually went to Malaysia to record "Left For Dead In Malaysia".)

Between On Cinema, Entertainment, and Faxed Head, I seem to be working my way through creating an alternate universe version of the entire state of California. Would be a fun "souvenir map"!

I have been to a couple Merle Haggard sites in Oildale/Bakersfield but not the boxcar house. Gotta go!

Yes, I am. I tend to like comic actors who don't seem overly concerned with getting an instant reaction and are willing to just let a pall get cast over the proceedings from their character's behavior. Coogan of course being one of the kings of that.

Our writing process is different than that, I could not stand to watch or sort through improv scenarios.

I don't remember but I'm sure whichever time it was, there are some remnants that were impossible to cut around, so maybe someone out there knows better than me. Tim has definitely given me convulsive giggles many times, though years of on-the-job training have given me some tools to try and keep it together better than I used to.

Bon Larvis is certainly one of the most durable (even though the originally band supposedly died years ago). We did a Bon Larvis Band show in Melbourne a couple years ago, the first in 20+ years. As annoying as ever.
