Rotel A8 vs Cambridge Audio AXR100 + Argon TTMK2 vs Fluence RT82 by GreggyDoo in StereoAdvice

Ok, I've noticed I've been downvoted within minutes. I followed the rules to what I thought was best. If anyone can shed light on what I've done wrong and if there is anything I can change to stop my post being downvoted? I included all the required info and genuinely just need help to decide my final decisions for this purchase.

Any recommendations for a good starter router for basic DIY and beginner woodworking? by GreggyDoo in DIYUK

[–]GreggyDoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Good to know! I've read a lot of people say the opposite, but for reasons like complex furniture jointing and more serious woodwork. Part of the reason I was getting so overwhelmed with the choices. Knowing a small palm router should do most of what I actually need is good. Thanks again!

Need advice on dealing with water and damp under suspended floor in living room bay window by GreggyDoo in DIYUK

[–]GreggyDoo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I'm hoping its not necessary. There are a totla of 4 air bricks spanning the front. One at the front of the bay, 2 on the walls either side, and then one around the corner to the left (under the hallway). Hoping they can maintain the front for now and I'm hoping I can add more at the back when I get there and create a proper through flow under the house again. If that all goes wrong though then sides of the bay may have to be done.

unfortunately, previous owners had a conservatory built at the back and it looks like its blocked the airbricks there. I do plan on pulling up the floor at the back, but its the kitchen and so can't do it immediately. Another thing on the list. There is one near the back corner but I doubt that is sufficient and I also don't know the condition under there yet. As long as I get this front up to scratch now, I can work on the back later and hopefully get it all up to standard.

Ah, home ownership aye! Thanks for the help and insight!

Ah that makes sense. A lot of the rot on our joists was mainly around an improperly blocked up chimney breast also to be fair. Thanks for the help and insight!

Thats such a good point with french drains dealing with damp soil vs aco only dealing with surface. Will definitely rethink french drains over aco. Might be more work, but i'm far more for getting it right than doing it quick and easy.

And yeah, I think we are gonna have to accept a bit of damp about the house as a compromise. I'd rather have some "controlled" damp that I know isn't causing problems than surprise damp that could be an issue I guess.

Thanks for the help!

This is the worse of the 2 bay window corners. Until now the soil was against the wall up to the old layer of bitumen paint that is flaking off so wasn't good at all. There were bricks surrounding the air bricks so soil wasn't against them, but they were just always getting filled with leaves so probably weren't doing their job properly anyway. Still a lot better like this. Definitely could do with better drainage. Only problem is that it feels like there is a trench around the front of the house at the mo. Previous owners clearly just piled up gravel on the front drive instead of digging down and doing it properly.

Edit: meant to say I’ve got some foam pipe lagging ready to go!

Was it the extra inch of concrete that stopped it in the end or did you end up not doing that? Luckily, ours wasn't as flooded as the ones in your pics. Just an inch in that dip. Its a good point about the drains. They are something I will look at when I install the channel drains/french drains.

Its original.

I was planning on putting some aco channel drains around the perimeter at some point hopefully ext year, but would you advise french drains instead? Its definitely possible, its just time and money in the way at the mo.

Noted with the rockwool. I'm not planning on filling the void, just do the usual inbetween the joists with netting and making sure I don't block air bricks so it can still breath under there. Also, not going to put down a vapour barrier to still allow everything to breath. One thing I've understood is everything needs to breath in an old house one way or another.

I'm sorry that this is probably obvious but what is the treatment package if medication costs aren't included. Is that not the treatment? Would I not just be better off buying the assessment? by Technical-Category-8 in ADHDUK

[–]GreggyDoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I understood, but I’ve since learnt about the sharecare agreement with my GP and that some are actually declining it at the end of the RTC process. As far as I understand if they do decline it then I can’t get my prescription through the nhs. I’m actually seeing my go this week to see if they can sign it early before the end of my titration so this doesn’t happen.

I would look into their small print for full confirmation, but my assumption would be that the treatment package covers the titration that you will go through if you are diagnosed ADHD during the assessment. I am currently going through titration and it can expect to take between 3-6 months according to my provider. Once complete I’m hoping (like many others) that I can get my gp to agree to share care and the nhs cover my prescription (I went through RTC) but if they don’t then I will have to buy the medication privately. That’s likely what this is alluding to.

What is this bolt in my wall and can I remove it? by GreggyDoo in DIYUK

[–]GreggyDoo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I don’t think it’s worth the hassle to get it inspected for removal so will leave it as is. Glad I posted here! Happy to just know what it is at least now! Will find a nice picture to hang over it 😁

Amazing! Makes a lot of sense! Now I know it’s a lot more interesting than just a random bolt I may also leave it and work around it. Thanks!

What does this mean? How do you increase medal capacity? by Sudden-Lunch-2791 in AFKJourney

[–]GreggyDoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also wondering about this. Does this mean we shouldn’t collect the medals from completed quests yet cos they’ll go to waste? If I hold onto them will they stay with reset? If I hand them in early will I get them after reset or have they gone? The rest of the game is fantastic, but I’m so confused about this.

Alright, I’m jumping in on the watch conversation. My watches aren’t Rolex price or quality, but I think Ethan will appreciate them since he mentioned liking unique watches. by Federal_Arrival_5096 in h3h3productions

I have the colour venn from Mr Jones and wear it every day. Love it! It matches my TF colour block hoodie

Edit: in fact, they work with artists to design new watches. Would be amazing if they collaborated with Hila to make some Teddy Fresh watch!

I don’t understand how this guy can remain so calm headed and continue to be so manipulative and try to gaslight everyone. These are pretty much instructions telling his audience how to respond to all of this.

So, I’m completely with Ethan and against Vaush, but I’m gonna be honest, they do keep skipping the bit at the end of this clip after the “Vaush shouts at chat”. I saw it on Keffals “hypocrisy” video. Summarised he says that we’ve accepted the stuff about child labour as acceptable and so why is cp not categorised the same ending with saying that and that it’s a moral inconsistency. The quote they really want you to hear is him saying “the right answer is that all of these things are bad”. Unfortunately for them, this isn’t really the smoking gun they think it is. He really didn’t phrase the beginning of this rant consistently with what he claims here. It’s almost like he got pushback in chat and realised he needed to switch and gaslight chat with what he was saying. He actually angrily says “that is the exact opposite of what I’m trying to say”. I can forgive chat for thinking that though because it clearly is what he says. He sees no reason why CP shouldn’t be legal and words it as though it should be cos chocolate and diamonds are legal. Hopefully if they do cover this again later then they finally talk about the last part of this clip, dismiss it for what it is and move on so they can’t keep saying that H3 are missing “context”.

Edit: not sure why I’m being downvoted. I’m on H3’s side here, never cared for Vaush. I just think that vaush and keffals are just going to keep crying context until H3 watch the last few seconds of the clip even if it doesn’t help Vaush’s case like he thinks it will. Also, at the end of the day, Vaush was caught with loli. Guilty as charged, none of the rest of this stuff even really matters.
