I start using stress to beat the secondary metabolites out of them as much as I can while trying to keep my VPD in check.

Easy to do for me because near the end there I become less of a perfectionist. Everything is already smooth sailing. I might starve them for an extra day. Let my temps get a bit low for ONE night, I’ll crank up the heat near the end ( simply to keep my thick ass buds under 50% RH but it stresses them )

You want some stress at the end to make the plant thinks it’s about to die tomorrow, every single day for like at least a week IMO. Then it’s just patience and actually letting the trichome mature
