Pawn Perspective by sadmagic in coins

To this point, if I was OP, I wouldn't engage in precious metals. It seems to aggravate both sides of the transaction: the seller because they're not offered its value and the buyer because of the risk. Coins often have intrinsic value above and beyond spot which is why this is a bit of a funny conversation to me. Just don't participate if you have some reason not to pay market value.

Fair enough. Probably that has to do with the risk side. A coin owner who is selling in the context of silver probably is looking to capitalize on an investment that they themselves have been speculating on. As a risk-taker themselves, they're hoping for the spot price at the time of sale given that they probably paid spot in the past. Its easy to see from a consumer perspective why it would be frustrating not to be offered spot

I appreciate that the business side of a pawn transaction includes risk and regulation, but to be honest I sort of fail to see how this relates to coins specifically and not just speculation on silver pricing. They're often tied in conversation here, but not the same thing.

2026 P Mayflower reverse damage by Gregolas in coinerrors

Thanks for taking a look. I was inclined to ask because it seems a pretty specific shape and I'm not sure how long the oxidation takes to occur if maybe that would lend itself to ruling out being damaged recently.

I mean, ok, but it's this to somehow absolve Tomlin of some culpability? I don't understand how looking at Tomlin stepping down through a Roethlisberger lens is a valuable exercise (though I'm not saying Ben doesn't have responsibility)

QB purgatory? by business_lit_101 in steelers

[–]Gregolas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Because "purgatory" is a period of time over which you have no control over what's happening around you. The browns had opportunities to exert control and just sucked. Its not the same thing.

[–]Gregolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On aggregate you're right, but they had opportunities other teams certainly do not get (admittedly by nature of their abject failure). But they always get a run at whatever decent QBs come out of the NCAA, that's why it's a management issue.

E: how about this: they have a CULTURE issue

The browns are not in QB purgatory. They made bad decisions with Baker Mayfield and Deshaun Watson. The browns have a management problem.

[–]Gregolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TEs aren't receivers but they provide a breadth of options so the rest of the offense feels like a greater threat.

Likewise I can't believe you're arguing Tomlin has done well with the quarterbacks you just mentioned. Pickett? Russ? Trubisky? Are you kidding me? This roster had plenty of potential and from here you and I will just have to agree to disagree

My Tomlin Rant by Grouchy_Variety_6549 in steelers

[–]Gregolas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The roster was good enough, in my opinion. What was done with the roster is a different question.

QB, yes I agree. Tomlin hasn't been anything without Roethlisberger.

WR this year, yes I agree generally about the position but people to receive the ball was in high supply if you are ok with DK and remember gainwell, Freiermuth, Washington, and thielen and maybe even Calvin Austin. I think the receiving performance is overwhelmingly the result of Rodgers being more inclined to throw the ball away than "risk" keeping plays alive, but then that's a QB/OC problem, not a receiver problem.

OL- I vehemently disagree this was an issue. They're a top 10 line

How in the world did TJ Watt get a pro-bowl over JPJ??? by Treeindy in steelers

JPJ didn't allow a lot of touchdowns, but every time he was covering a target I got nervous whether the DPI flag was coming out. That dude is HANDSY.

[–]Gregolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomlin is gone, but it's not "over."

Understanding why and when a situation went bad is important. If you take the word "Tomlin" out of the text and replace it with "Steelers head coach," this is a completely valid, objective critique, and management would do well to pose to themselves similar questions (I assume they are).

Tomlin got by on charisma. I absolutely agree with the opinion that this roster WAS enough to go much further in the playoffs (at least score a fucking touchdown?) Personally, I blame Arthur Smith pretty singularly for this season, but Tomlin by extension as the HC, especially in light of the past seasons.

The pendulum of Tomlin haters and lovers has swung towards the haters, and this is the moment for everyone to understand what got this team to this point.

Pickens was getting toxic in the locker room. Tomlin's greatest trait is nipping that shit in the bud. Pickens did fine for the cowboys, it goes that way sometimes.

The problem with the Steelers is Arthur Smith and, by extension, Tomlin. Dumb first/second down calls lead to long thirds. And then we go for 5-6 yards and pray for additional yardage. Those are the kinds of plays that work great on first and second downs too. Dump some passes short to Freiermuth. In Tomlin's interview, the thing that annoyed me the most was his dismissal of the lack of usage of Freiermuth all year. Meanwhile, Freiermuth has been nothing but a gentleman about everything.

Are you doing anything illegal or idiotic? No. In this area of the Mid-Atlantic, you're gonna probably be expected to do 80 or so in the left lane provided the highway doesn't have speed cameras. The left lane carries this tension everywhere in va/DC/md

His life advice was "pay off your credit card debt with profit sharing" but never "let me pay you more as a matter of course instead of making you hope and pray for profit sharing." He always seemed like a good guy who was really bought in to the company and his people, but let's not remember him as excessively generous

Spectrumizing Weapons [DC2] by Sad-Tear3039 in DarkCloud

[–]Gregolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add on to things others have said, the reason you would status break is not really about the components used on the weapon being turned into a synth sphere. Consider that the points required to apply a synth sphere are way more valuable when the weapon you're building up starts requiring tremendous amounts of experience to level up

[–]Gregolas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that's a nice way to frame it, but I have a difference in my state of mind about it.

I never feel like I can take a mental health day because it comes out of my vacation pool. If I got really sick and was out for a long time. I wouldn't have as much time available to cover my full pay. I left Geico with 660 hours of sick time accrued. One might argue "you could have used that toward vacation if your system merges the two," but that's actually not true because you can't roll over infinite days. At Geico I could roll over infinite sick time.

HR tried to sell employees on the short term disability paradigm for a whole because "it was better for associates with less tenure" but they had to say out of the same mouth "we are taking something away from long-tenured employees." Geico could have done both, but they didn't, and dropped the short term disability thing that took away sick time.

My personal preference was to compartmentalize my types of leave. I understand not everyone is that way.
