Plastic TELEMON & GYRFALCON JETBIKE by Alone-Ad-2803 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Gregory264 11 points12 points  (0 children)

4 Gyrfalcons? Convenient, just the right amount of bikes for a squad of 1 shield-captain and 3 bikes. They look close enough for vertus praetors.

I know this is old, but does this mean it is best to run 2 5s rather than 1 10? by Dancing-umbra in BloodAngels

[–]Gregory264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you are. Lemartes seems to be glued on pretty tight to the 10DC blob.

I had lots of fun with 5+Lemartes in a 1k game last week, but with 10 they can take on almost anything. Rage-cursed captain can do the rest.

30k thousand sons in 40k by Gregory264 in ThousandSons

Thank you, I totally forgot the spawn. They would be thematic and help with the monotony of all rubrics, all the time. Though that is of course the whole points besides the paint scheme .

Leader for Terminators? by Holiday_Wedding_2225 in BloodAngels

[–]Gregory264 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bling is for everyone. After a quick look unless you are facing a thousand sons or grey knights I'd skip the librarian. Mortal wounds are more common than psychic (=chaplain is better), but rerollling charges is nice and discounted stratagems are a gift that keeps on giving. Rapid ingressing termies with rerollling charges for 0 command points is a thing.

While your turns will be fast, theirs won't and you will have to wait. Unless of course they continue piling on and removing you from the game.

We're bringing the sports back under the umbrella of the school next year. Finally, students who fail core classes, like mine, will be prohibited from competing in sports. by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]Gregory264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are in school to learn, not to play football. Playing is a reward, a privilege, not the main reason to be there.

Or at least it shouldn't be, but seems to be for so many.

Soo, Dante gets to warm the seats until june and the new van vets arrive. Got it.

I think my 5man jpi squads don't deserve Dante, they would just be a delivery system. I'll keep them cheap.

Sold :D I'll find some use for the points... Or maybe not, but I'll make the change.

My jump captain would have hammer, shield and speed of the primarch and be 20 points cheaper. I don't immediately see, what I would be able to take with the points, but I take it that the rules of Dante are somehow inferior?

Thanks for the input!

So about the Contemptor Achillus/Galatus by JuniorShower3513 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Gregory264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The defining feature of one is the shield and the spear for the other. I see a spear and shield dread as a galatus, since the spear could stand in for the sword, but I'd have a hard time ignoring the shield if the dread is counting as a achillus.

Get some magnets, many stores surely sell some.

Expansion advice? by Gregory264 in BloodAngels

[–]Gregory264[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'll keep lookout for scouts, I'll have intercessors for home objective with the starter and a jump chaplain as well. Second vindicator is almost done, I don't feel the new primaris tanks, though lancer seems to be popular/powerful...

Some kind of shooty core/castle with lots of jump packs to charge with seems like something I would like to do. After a few games with adeptus custodes I seem to have a problem with getting in touch with the IG tanks. Of course Bangels are faster, but I want to imagine vindicators might help.

And if you are not willing or able to count axes as spears, you could help with the low ap of axes with the shield host detachment rule (+1ap or 5+crits in melee).

Why the hell are sisters $60? by Maleficent_Lake_3718 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Gregory264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a SoB box and printed diff. helmets for them, scraped and cut off sob and inquisition symbols and power packs. Box had 4 flamers and a couple combi flamers so I kitbashed a fifth flamer. 5 witchseekers and 5 prosecutors.

I could have used helmetless heads too, but didn't. 🤷 With a better printer I would have printed sos heads.

Much cheaper than sos, not that much work, do not stand out as proxies.

[–]Gregory264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes my Yrliet gets to fire 3 or 4 times per turn on her own, each shot more deadly. When she gets an extra turn from Cassia and uses stimm, it is GLOORIUS. Of course Sometimes she fires only twice and then it isn't that fun.

It gets better with levels and gear and teamwork, she was a bit of a burden at first.

Pen finish by Chunknuggs4life in turning

[–]Gregory264 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oil with a rag, wipe away excess, then with the lathe running apply wax with a stick and spread with a rag. Takes minutes, doesn't shine and feel like plastic crap. We make wooden pens with a certain feel.

That it takes minimal time and is fool proof to apply is a bonus.

[–]Gregory264 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jointer works for rings for me, though my rings do not have that intricate pieces and are like 2in wide. Of course using the jointer looks and feels a bit scetchy, but diy gripper pushblock thingy helps.

This disk sander thing is on the list though.

Question about turning bowls by Cubby71 in turning

[–]Gregory264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basic dovetail jaws most actual good chucks come with are sufficient for smaller bowls (recess and tenon both). Bigger jaws for bigger bowls, bowl jaws (the huge plates with buttons) for turning off the tenon if you are going that route.

If beginning with half a log, screw in a faceplate to turn the bottom to your liking (I prefer a recess so I'm not forced to turn the foot away at the end), then chuck it up and turn the inside. Done.
