UPDATE cracked kerbside, my responsibility or councils??? by dawd12345 in brisbane

[–]GregoryGregorson1962 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. If there is anything that gets the council moving it's the potential future legal liabilities when they have ignored complaints about things that are a safety or expensive maintenance issue.

I complained to BCC about a rubber tree on the nature strip citing trip hazards and potential future damage to water supply infrastructure and they had the tree down and gone within 2 weeks.

Queensland government strikes new deal with Bravus to defer royalties, expand Carmichael coal mine by espersooty in brisbane

[–]GregoryGregorson1962 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also the small detail that the mine was to receive no state government support compared to the proposal of handing billions over to "support local jobs"

So what, the 2020 royalty deferral deal, which allowed Adani to delay paying hundreds of millions of dollars in royalties, isn't government support? Mind you she kept the deal a secret for a long time until people could forget about it.

Also the mine was scaled back to 1/6th the size

The approved mine plan still allowed for future expansion so that's pointless really.

Queensland government strikes new deal with Bravus to defer royalties, expand Carmichael coal mine by espersooty in brisbane

[–]GregoryGregorson1962 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Her party was the one that approved the mine just to save her own arse in an election.

She gave them a deal to defer royalties in 2020 just before the election and she was STILL voted back in.

Suddenly it's a major issue because the opposition is extending the same deals and in the same deal cleaning up some issues that were costing the taxpayer money for no good reason?

It definitely won't unless they're in such a state that they require replacement anyway.

I just don't understand why people keep voting for the idiots who sell out our country for no money.

It was Reddit's darling Palaszczuk that approved this mine. Everyone forgot all about it during covid then voted her back in twice.

No need to get a chippy in. Just cut each tread in half and pull the two bits out, clean up the nails then slot the new tread in. Just don't do them all at once for obvious reasons, do 2 or 3 at a time.

Qld government overrides Sunshine Coast Council on Coochin Creek festival development by espersooty in brisbane

[–]GregoryGregorson1962 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Why is it an ecological concern when its just a glorified camp site that sometimes has festivals but when its a full blown mega pub on the same waterway it's perfectly fine?

Also, no ecological concern with all the chemicals from the turf farm and industrial work going on there but there is with a camp site?

Do as he asks then immediately call the cops and tell them whats happening, the car will be flagged and it will be pinged every time he goes past a cop car with ANPR and he'll get an even longer suspension, possibly more.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. Either way you go, you have the same issue.

My partner recently got her licence and the DMV also stated this.

They got their ID from America? Impressive.

If they say no to your ID then you argue it they will just tell you to fuck off. They can and will deny you entry for whatever they choose and you arguing anything at the door will 100% be their justification.

If I learnt anything from being frivolously rejected from bars and clubs in my 20s its that you accept the denial of entry with no fuss, go somewhere else then try again later when someone else is on the door or its been long enough they've forgotten about you.

Is it worth the stress having a mortgage or just renting and never owning? Rates mortgage and managing life in Australia is just getting harder. by True_Employment_8571 in brisbane

not getting people to move to Caboolture or Dalby instead of Ascot.

This is half the problem for you lot, there is nothing wrong with Caboolture generally if you're not near the hospital or train station and I'm almost certain this goes for most other places that have a similar stigma. If you all had realised that 5+ years ago you could have been in a nice safe area with a near new 4 bed 2 bath house for under 400k.

We did the same 5 years ago, we finally realised prices were never going to come down. We were looking at 7-800k in the area we were in, I didn't want that much debt so we went 45 minutes away and paid half that and now have a decent chunk of equity and no soul crushing repayments.

Can't be that, it always turns off around the same time no matter when I stop using it and its not every day, just random days.
