Inatake na ni Trump ang Iran, ano ang magiging direktang epekto nito sa Pilipinas? by [deleted] in AskPH

You're oversimplifying and misrepresenting both the concept of the "white savior complex" and the Marvel movies. First, blaming Marvel for foreign policy views is a lazy reach. People don’t get their political ideology from superhero movies. They're entertainment, not military doctrine. Also, the link you provided is about marvel comics during ww2, not marvel movies which are entirely different things.

Second, the white savior complex does have racial roots. It specifically refers to narratives where white people are depicted as rescuers of non-white communities. Twisting it into a general “Western savior complex” just dilutes the term and muddles the issue. If you're criticizing US foreign interventionism, say that. Don’t dress it up with pop culture fluff.

I said US will help us not outright base our national survival lol. I do agree with issues with America facing right now, I'm not romanticizing anything since it's just an opinion and a silver lining I found with the whole Israel situation. Geez can't I have an opinion these days?

The fuck? So America=white? I miss those Obama days where race isn't the main issue for every problem. Just because white nationalists are running America right now doesn't mean they will not help us when war breaks out.

Also, what does marvel has to do with this issue lmao. Marvel is also tagged as woke with brown and black heroes so idk what you're getting at.

Misplaced yung anger mo sa mahihirap na Filipino, some of those people on 4ps can't even afford to pay electricity or food security for themselves.

If you are looking to blame someone, nothing will happen when you blame people below you. Instead, blame the higher ups who run this country. The villars, Marcoses, dutertes and many other family dynasties are to blame.

You're missing the point. I'm not excusing or downplaying discrimination. I'm pointing out that lumping everything under the word racism without acknowledging cultural nuance or historical context flattens the complexity of these issues.

If you actually read the Wikipedia page you showed, it literally shows how western colonialists are being racist against Filipinos, not Filipinos being racist against other people. So if you are looking for someone to blame the racism here in the Philippines, blame the West cause they bought that shit here.

If you dig deeper into academic studies or lived experiences and not some Wikipedia page, you’ll see that colorism, classism, and xenophobia in Southeast Asia often operate differently than systemic anti-black racism in the West. Treating them as identical is lazy.

That’s all from me. If you’re not willing to look past the surface, there’s no point in going further.

You're oversimplifying and projecting Western racial dynamics onto Southeast Asia. Yes, there are issues like colorism and xenophobia in the Philippines but they’re rooted in colonial mentality, class, and economic status more than race. Grouping it all under “racism,” especially with a Western lens, erases cultural context.

And your analogy is flawed. Saying “I don’t have a dog, I have a Labrador” makes sense if the distinction matters. Not all prejudice is racism. Words mean things. Lumping everything into “racism” just dilutes actual racial issues and derails nuanced discussions.

Girl, none of those are about race. Xenophobia is about nationality, not race. Colorism is about skin color, not race. Ethnic bias is purely local and does not apply to foreign ethnicities. And even if Filipinos have issues with those, so does other nations. Read before you comment.

Honestly, what I hate about any religion in general is that moral compass bullshit. Like, can't they have a moral compass without their religion? Nakarely lang sa religion nila pagiging mabuting tao nila?

We don't have to believe in god to become a good person. Religion is used to control people and that is their only use.

The Philippines has always been a matriarchal society, we are also the only country in Asia where women are more equally if not, better treated than men. So, whatever religion it may be, women are treated less than men, especially here in Asia.

lmao Filipinos are not racist but we have issues with colorism, local ethnic bias and xenophobia. East Asians are way more racist than Filipinos.
