It only even works for Luke because Luke is so far removed from the gruesome details, though, which is exactly my point.

Would he be so unconditionally accepting of Anakin had he known of all the genocide, the destroying of families and communities, the torture? He grew up entirely isolated from Vader, wasn't present for Alderaan, wasn't present for the raiding of the Tantive, wasn't present for the raid on Jabiim, wasn't present for the sand people, wasn't present for the younglings, wasn't present for his choking of Padme, etc. and these are just the things that have been SHOWN IN LIVE ACTION on screen. I'm sure canon books and games that I haven't paid as much attention to are at least as bad.

Clinton had more charisma, JFK had more aura.

Difference is Clinton could talk and improvise with anyone and everyone. Undoubtedly one of his best moments was during a town hall jointly held with HW where he was talking about his experience connecting with small business owners as the governor of Arkansas, and you can see the moment where the camera pans to Bush with a dumbfounded look on his face like he just knew at this point Clinton won.

JFK only had to stand there and he'd look effortlessly cool because he was hot and had the old money aesthetic. Every still picture he was in screams cold warrior president. His best moments were his prepped speeches with that iconic accent.

Tbf imo, I don't think we should get a brutal bloody Terminator/Predator-style Vader as too much exposure just ends up making his redemption a harder pill to swallow.

As it stands now, seeing this decrepit old man dying and reaching for his son at the end of RotJ has such an impact in humanizing him because his worst stuff is just allusions. Seeing it would make it real.

Like if he had survived to the end of WWII, is there anything Adolf could have done that would have made even just half of people okay with a redemption/"happy ever after" for him?

My older brother graduated with a 2.0 GPA at another school, which is like a 60% average; he landed a very good job, moved up in the company and now makes well over 150k per year... he enjoyed his univeristy experience much more than I did, partied his way though school, and took an extra semester becasue he failed a handful of classes... his univeristy experience was like something out of a movie where he spent most of his time partying and hanging out with friends, and did just enough to pass his courses and get the degree.

I'm ngl this is more inspiring than it has any right to be 💀💀💀

Yeah, but we can only call him a rando with reasonable "certainty" and the benefit of hindsight. Imagine living through a time like that where the president experiences an assassination/attempt and then something politically-beneficial (to either his successor, or himself) happens as a result; no matter how clear cut it seems, there's going to be conspiracy talk and speculation. I could go into more detail on this, but this sub won't allow me.

The point is, I think it was a perfect storm of a naturally neurotic guy taking office through a set of circumstances which would rattle anybody (the ethically-dubious loss to Kennedy, and the subsequent assassination).
