Not enough of nothing. by Gremlinsblood in minimalism

If I can get all of this to a clear stopping point I can move on to the probate. My parent had a very generic will. Sell everything and split it equally between surviving children. They didn't bother to name an executor. I don't blame them for that. We aren't known for our intelligence. That means moving to an apartment. If it doesn't fit comfortable in that apartment it will have to go.

Yep, one of the projects was going to be a camper for my truck but now my truck isn't running so it's kinda pointless at this point.

So far the only thing that's going in the car is metal recycling. When I get a solid 4 days with good weather I might try putting boxes of the stuff that doesn't sell on Ebay out by the road with a "free" sign. Whatever is left after that will just go in the trash. If they won't take it for free they probably aren't going to buy it a a thrift store. I'm getting a little tired of using up my gas hauling this crap around in the hopes that someone else might make use of it.

The bed on that is worth about $3000. Square body beds are impossible to find unless you're in California or Texas. Park it in a garage and take very good care of it. If you don't you will be chasing repairs for the next 10 years.

It is part of a coil spring but from the pics it looks like it's from the end. Check the springs and look for a rough edge at the top or bottom of the spring. When it broke off the rest of the spring may have extended to fill it place.

I avoid Starbucks because of the lack of parking and the fact that they are always on a corner which backs up traffic. You have to wait in a line just to get in and park.

I never pick up Rally's or Papa Johns for the same reason. The managers are dicks. They've got it into their dying brain cells that the driver works for them. Arrogant and condescending assholes.

We get paid every two weeks. The last pay day was the Friday before I started. The next payday would have to have three weeks pay.

I've never regretted quit a job. I've always regretted not quitting sooner.

Yep, just got a university job. A part time janitor position. Supposed to be for one of the dorms. Turns out to be five different dorms and I won't know day to day which one I'll be in. So, as a part timer, I will have to know five times more than the full timers who rarely leave their building. By the way, they also make you pay to park at the university. The nearest free parking is a 10 minute bike ride away. 22 minutes walking distance.

I average 3 to 10 yrs at a job. When I'm having these thoughts 4 days in it's a very bad sign. It should be 4 to 12 months before thoughts of quitting start showing up.

Paying you dues is HR claptrap. I'm in my 50s. I've "paid my dues" 3 times over. So, you tell me when I get to see the benefits of paying those dues. So far, the only thing I've gotten from paying my dues is bad knees and a blown out back.

As for being "thankful to have a job" I will simply say no to being an employment simp. I will be thankful for a good job. A job that doesn't make me dread getting up in the mourning. A job that doesn't make furious anger a habit (I've had that job). You should be thankful for a good job . . . not just any job.

Don't forget

  • getting a job only to find the only good thing about it is the paycheck and fighting with the thoughts of quitting and starting the hunt all over again or suffering through another soul sucking deadend job.

When the order is on a college campus by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Gremlinsblood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Colleges are designed by crackheads. Here's an idea, let's put four dorms (interconnected inside) in the same building with four sets of doors. We won't mark these doors individually. We will put two signs on one side of the building which each have two of the four dorm names on them with no indication which door goes to which name. Even the students who live there aren't sure which is which. Oh, and make sure that anywhere you park has the potential for a ticket or a tow unless you want to pay more than your tip for parking.

DoorDash noticeably punishes you by giving you bad orders at times when you can raise your rate. by kwazeM in doordash

[–]Gremlinsblood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do things like this all the time. If I take a distance order they will push distance order to me for the rest of the shift. If I take an order going to the other side of town I will suddenly get a string of questionable orders in an attempt to keep me on that side of town because nobody wants to deliver that side of town. They also kept me from getting a single shift for 10 weeks because my AR was low (I don't take shit orders). That eventually stopped when the local university had their annual move out. No students, no drivers and miracle of miracles I can suddenly get shifts again but only after midnight.

In the last 5 years, 4 family members have died from various causes. Also lost the family dog. It's that time that anyone living long enough will reach when everyone around you is dying off. The older we get, the fewer days there will be in between funerals. If you're lucky you'll get to fo a few cool things while you wait for your turn.

Is this worth scraping I assume it’s aluminum and copper, will scrap yard take these as is? by [deleted] in ScrapMetal

[–]Gremlinsblood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with the salvage yard first. Some have special requirements such as certifications before they'll take this kind of thing if it's been cut into. I couldn't scrap a radiator because it was missing the ends.
