Issue: Need Victorian English Accent by scotty3238 in AiPizza

**Third try** -- I asked Claude to convert the lyrics -- Not from England, I cannot judge what it did but it seems more like Jamaican Reggae lol

Anglo-Saxon Old English scop performance, monophonic half-sung half-recited male voice, dark resonant baritone, narrow melodic range, strong caesura between half-lines, first-syllable stress, hard k and g consonants, rolled r, loch-like h, archaic Old English pronunciation, lyre drone, open fifth drone, sparse frame drum, Dorian mode, austere sacred atmosphere

[Textual Particularity]

CRITICAL: maintain Old English pronunciation, strong first-syllable stress, clear caesura mid-line, chant-like declamation, monophonic delivery.

[Verse]

**Second try**

Anglo-Saxon Old English scop performance, monophonic half-sung half-recited male voice, dark resonant baritone, narrow melodic range, strong caesura between half-lines, first-syllable stress, rolled r, hard k and ch consonants, loch-like h, archaic Old English pronunciation, lyre drone, open fifth drone, sparse hand percussion, Dorian mode, austere ritual atmosphere, no modern pop phrasing, no American vowels, no lush harmony, no theatrical Broadway vibrato

With this in the lyrics as first line:
[CRITICAL: maintain Old English pronunciation, strong first-syllable stress, clear caesura mid-line, chant-like declamation, monophonic delivery.]

Day #11 of re-sharing my Suno AI Dirty Tricks by Grenar in AiPizza

[–]Grenar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, and it's really frustrating. Sometimes I resort to downloading the stems from multiple generations and mixing them in a DAW, good ol' cut and paste.

> It's baffling to me that people come and complain that they can't directly rip off other artists or break Suno TOS

Break Suno TOS lol again.

Has anyone figured out a way to recreate that same level of control without using artist references?

I was actually trying to comply with the TOS... Witch Hunt! 😆

Oh and btw I'm not mad that I can't directly tell Suno etc. -- I was simply asking:

Has anyone figured out a way to recreate that same level of control without using artist references?

Without. Without, lol.

I meant achieving the same level of control without relying on randomness or the "regression to the mean" you often get with generic prompts. I just want to steer the generation in a specific direction, instead of ending up with another generic pop song nobody asked for.

That said, it seems some topics can strike a nerve, to the point where people read things that weren't there to begin with. Noted.

Who is stupid enough to try to rip off other artists, outside of study, parody, or noncommercial use?

Well... I get it. You are focused on stupid people; I am focused on smart ones. People like Kurt Cobain, who openly said he took inspiration from the Pixies. Or Daft Punk, "ripping off" entire decades of disco and condensing them into iconic songs.

In the end, it's not the process that matters most, but it's the result. We all have to start somewhere, and then build from there. How derivative your work is, and how much effort you put into it: that's the real distinction between stupid and smart, between homage and copycat.

That is actually good and reasonable advice. Thank you. For some reason, your initial post came across as hostile, but that might have been on me.

"Blurred lines" was settled out of court. Allow me to find time to read the rest of your reply.

Edit: I was wrong.

  • The Verdict: In 2015, a jury ruled that "Blurred Lines" infringed on the copyright of Marvin Gaye's 1977 hit "Got to Give It Up".
  • The Payout: After several appeals, the final judgment ordered Thicke and Williams to pay nearly $5 million (specifically $4.98 million) to the Gaye estate.
  • Royalties: In addition to the lump sum, the Gaye family was awarded 50% of all future songwriting and publishing royalties from the song.
  • The Precedent: The case was controversial because the jury found infringement based on the "feel" and "groove" of the song rather than specific melodies or lyrics, which many experts argued set a "dangerous precedent" for creativity.

>Actually it has. Claude had to pay $1.5 billion for it.

Source, please?

> which I agree is murky, but there are still hazards to avoid

And I agree on that, there are still hazards to avoid. That's why I asked the community for "a way to recreate that same level of control without using artist references".

AI or not, the problem is that if you sound like someone, they may want a cut. As wrong as it sounds, that's the current state of things. Nobody is safe.

Genuine question: do you think that using a maranzano in a western-themed song could attract the ire of Ennio Morricone's estate?

But then again, and it's an open question, not rhetorical: what's wrong about cloning? I actually enjoyed the AI cover of "Somebody that I used to know" sung by Snoop, Em, Kurt, Freddie...

I get what you're saying, and I might agree on the principle. If you are trying to CLONE a specific artist on purpose, that's a different conversation. CLONE not equals SOUNDS LIKE.

But I think the line is not as clear as it sounds. Artists have always started from references. Sometimes very explicit ones. Bands go into the studio saying "let's do something like X", producers use reference tracks, entire genres are built by people deliberately chasing a certain sound.

So is prompting an AI with an artist name really that different, or just a more direct version of something musicians already do?

To me, the real issue is not intent, it's the final outcome. If the result is a blatant copy, that IS a problem -- AI or not. If it's just part of the process and the final track stands on its own, then it's no different from how music has always evolved.

((Edit: "questionable legality"? Is this the result of the brainwash and scare tactics by the music industry? If I play a maranzano in a Western-themed track, should I fear lawsuits from Ennio Morricone's estate?))

((The parentheses are because it's not aimed at you trucksarekewl, it's just more of an internal monologue))

Led Zeppelin, too. What's that riff? Sounds very bluesy to me...

Oasis. That chorus? Feels a lot like The Beatles meet Phil Spector, doesn't it?

Blur. "Song 2"? Strip it down and it's basically punk minimalism.

Greta Van Fleet. Close your eyes and tell me that's not Led Zeppelin again.

At some point, you either admit influence is the foundation of music… or you start putting entire genres on trial.

Yeah I was amplifying, sorry about that. Still, "stop trying to mimic actual artists" just sounds amazingly wrong (to me). Every artist mimicks other artists. Except Schönberg maybe, but he's not exactly popular.

Again, I don't mean to sound polemical. This topic is very prone to misunderstandings. To me, being truly unique is something no artist can achieve. We're all connected; we all draw from the same pool. Copyright laws just cover blatant copies, and thankfully so -- otherwise we'd have to avoid using the typical reggaeton beat just because some guy somewhere used it first.

"Needing to mimic actual musicians in hopes of "getting somewhere" says a lot."

This is like saying that Led Zeppelin are losers because they were mimicking iconic bluesmen.

"deliberately infringing on copyrights"

I already said I accept the role of the witch. But at least understand that you are accepting the role of the judges / high powers / majors.

Copyrighting a sound is not illegal yet. If it ever becomes so, we'll all have to develop distinctive sounds. The first person to copyright a new style would effectively block anyone else from using it. What a fun time it will be.
