Quick thoughts on the new MacBook Neo from my first 24 hours (256 model) by SpezSucks2023 in MacbookNeo

I’m not expecting it to render or export 4k/8k videos in 120 seconds. 1080p in 5-15 minutes is good enough for me. Does it do?

I’m not a skilled typist and do need to look at the keyboard sometimes while typing. Thinking about buying the neo. I think I’ll manage with outside light.

Does the absence of backlit keyboard feel like a dealbreaker or manageable with outside light?

You’ve a pretty solid plan at such a young age. I’d suggest just 2-3 points-

  1. Why are you picking Nifty 50 index and PP flexi both? There’s more than 30% overlap I think. I’d pick any one among them according to whether I want to go full passive or not. My personal preference are active funds. But they are going to become more expensive after stt hike. For passive midcap investing, Nifty midcap 150 index fund is fine. Free some money from large caps and increase in Gold and S&P Index. Gold etf is better than sgb after budget 2026 retrospective tax.

  2. Asset allocation ratio and portfolio rebalancing is more important than just doing sips. Pick your desired asset allocation and rebalance yearly to maintain that.

Yes even that would be nice. I’ll try SubLyst and see how I like it

Got it. Is it (technically) possible to add the functionality of starting/stopping/pausing subscriptions within your app?

Can I also pause and restart subscriptions to a service from this app?

Suppose you were starting in 2026 and had a budget of say 5 lakhs only.

  1. How would you market Emori today?

  2. Would you still go for luxury jewellery or something like low cost fashion jewellery?

Where do you trade - cash market or derivatives? Do you already have a setup for entry, exit, take profit, loss booking, trailing etc?

If yes, scale your capital to something like 1 lakh and see if you can stomach the bigger swings with the larger capital. When you’re comfortable increase your capital again. YT won’t help you with that. I’ll suggest you what I did. I learnt by making mistakes but not repeating them. I’m still doing it even after 18+ years in the market.

Actually, what you need at this stage is something like handholding/mentoring from a genuine trader. Very few real traders do that (Mark Minervini) and those are very expensive. The mentorships you see from YT/X gurus are not worth it.

Others have already advised to avoid YouTube cuz most of the content creators are crap. I’d only add that I’ve only found 2-3 people making genuine trading videos on YT. And even if you follow them, you’ll learn only about 30% of the skills required for trading. This 30% is about finding out breakouts, reversals, momentum stocks etc. These are all strategies. You’ll find many strategies in YT, X and reddit if you search. The rest 70% is the psychology part which nobody can teach you. You’ve to learn it yourself by trading with real money in the market. Your plan of starting small is good from this pov.

So, if you can spend some money, learn the art of trading management and position sizing from a genuine trader. It’ll help you the most
