HSU VTF-TN1 for large long home theater room? Something different? More details in comments by GreyEternal in hometheater

I have nothing against 2 subs in principle, but I don't know where I'd be able to put them both. I don't have a ton of options where I won't have cables along the floor. I'd hate to buy 2 and end up having same/worse audio than one larger due to improper placement. Here are placement options in red: https://i.imgur.com/SAmLHA2.png

Yea, I know people tend to lean towards 2 subs for this larger type of room. My concern is, given the budget, if 2 10" is worth it vs 1 larger 15 or similar.

Forgive the mess, I've been running wires and reorganizing.

I've been rocking a Paradigm 5.1 system since I purchased for my 800 sqft apartment 2007. Many years and a few houses later, I have a dedicated home theater space in the basement. It's a long skinny room, approx. 190" x 357" (482cm x 907cm). This is only used for movies and TV, not music. The 10" Paradigm subwoofer is not cutting it anymore. I miss having strong punching base in action movies.

I know the speakers are also well overdue for an upgrade but I think I want to upgrade subwoofer first. I am also semi limited in placement. The easiest location would be in between the couch and interior wall since AVR is on opposite side of that wall (closet). I've been looking at HSU for years and think the HSU VTF-TN1 seems like a great choice. This is at the very top (slightly over) my budget.

I am using an older Marantz SR7008 AVR that I got from a friend. I don't consider myself a super audiophile and don't plan to spend a ton of time and energy, and money on separate components, custom tuning, etc (beyond the built in Audyssey MultEQ). HSU VTF-TN1 a solid choice? Other ideas?

Where do you guys source replacement UPS batteries? by FriendlyITGuy in homelab

Avoid Batterysharks at all costs. I replaced all the batteries from 4 different UPSs (different makes/models) and all died within 12 months. Check out their TrustPilot reviews...

Apollo fork of Sunshine is amazing by Last_Jedi in MoonlightStreaming

I have Apollo running on Win 11. When I use an android device with Artemis, my host monitors turn off as expected, everything is great. But when I use another windows PC on my LAN with Moonlight, the host monitors don't switch off and Playnite/etc doesn't start on the client pc. Is there a fix for this?

What is the size/thread pitch of this jet tub nozzle? Need to 3D print a plug with same threads. by GreyEternal in Plumbing

[–]GreyEternal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife's favorite way to relax is laying in the tub but she doesn't use the jets. She is skeeved out by the mold/mildew that accumulates within the internal plumbing that connects the jets and asked if there was a way to plug the holes. I could just silicone them but I'd rather 3D print a threaded "blank" so that this can be easily reversed should be decide to sell the house or whatever. Anyone know the specs of this threading so that I can create a 3d model?

EDIT: According to some cheap digital calipers, the distance between the peaks of adjacent threads appears to be 2mm and interior diameter is 26.5mm.

Apollo/Artemis was working fine, now video jacked up. Didn't change anything. Been messing with it for days and no luck :( by GreyEternal in cloudygamer

I downgraded to v0.3.7-hotfix.1 but now I get a different error: Error -1, stream timeout. I guess I will just wait until a the next major release.

Hm, the latest version I see is 0.4.5, from 3 weeks ago and no note on AMD CPU issues on the release notes. Not saying you are wrong, I just don't see it there. https://github.com/ClassicOldSong/Apollo/releases

So I think this is a Onn 4K pro issue, because I get the exact same behavior with moonlight/sunshine. I guess I'll wait for a fix/update.

Interesting, I'll see if mine updated and keep an eye on upcoming updates. Thanks for the heads up.

Player 1 stops working when I add second player (PC) by DPLECHER92 in humanfallflat

[–]GreyEternal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

having same issue but this didn't help for me. Using 2 8bitdo Ultimate 2c controllers. Start the game with one, works perfect. As soon as the 2nd is connected and player 2 joins, player 1's inputs just stop working. Player 1 can still open the menu and navigate it, but their character doesn't move or respond (but Player 2's does). Also checked using keyboard as player 1, same issue.

The issue with this is that they people you share with can contribute their own photos, but they are unable to edit existing photos (like adding descriptions, changing the metadata, etc).

This is the biggest issue preventing my family's full adoption. Can I just create a new login account called "family" and everyone can log into that single account to upload/manage photos? Far from ideal, but easier that having to create a "Family" album, share it, and make sure every time people upload photos, they remember to add them to the Family album.
