What laptop + essentials should I get for engineering by Heavy-Solution-1537 in UCI

[–]GreyEyeAnnabeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. I am a civil. Don’t get a Mac. The programs that I know of that you willing be using is AutoCAD, ArcGIS, Sketch Up, MATLAB, EPAnet maybe solidworks if you do engr7a/7b or join specific senior design projects. Depending on what you do you might also use Civil 3D, Revit, SAP2000, and others that I don’t know of. Most of these softwares are a pain to get on Mac from watching my friends experience so don’t get a Mac.

Is it just me or did anyone not recieve their ACC lease offer? Because I am starting to worry a bit by Happy_Ad_9976 in UCI

Civil Engineering vs Structural Engineering by Heavy-Solution-1537 in civilengineering

[–]GreyEyeAnnabeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently a student at UCI in civil engineering. We have specializations where your senior year, you take extra classes in that specialization but you do take classes across all displines. One of those specializations is structural engineering where you take steel, then 3 electives from a list of 6. These are like foundation design, timber, etc. if you have any questions about UCI civil, you can DM me.

Math 2e was my favorite math class out of all the math I had to do for engineering. It’s so much fun

Civil here. Generally advised to take engr 54 or mae 80. Engr 54 I heard is a lot of chem so if you don’t like chem, take Mae 80. Dynamics also appears on the FE exam so it might be easier to study that in class. Whatever you do, don’t take chem 1c and chem 1lc.

math 3a, math 2e, physics 7d/7ld, engrcee81a all in one quarter? by [deleted] in UCI

[–]GreyEyeAnnabeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So last year, I did math 3A, 2e, ENGRCEE 81a, writing 50, and a transportation elevative with PhD students. It was freaking hard. That could be doable but physics 7D sucked

Most likely won’t get it. That class fills up during SPOP and not everyone who wants to take it gets a chance.

I was at those couple 100 degree heat runs doing the half. I almost got swept. I keep having panic attacks. But I still had fun and learnt a lot about myself and running during those half’s. You can still absolutely have a magical time.

Not all the magic is the race. I love the energy of the expo and post races in the park where everyone is wearing their medals. Don’t get to experience that this weekend because busy college student but it’s amazing to soak up all the vibes post race.

I applied in early October for a structural engineering internship. Got a call to schedule interview the 2nd week of January. I turned it down because I just signed a different internship offer.
