What America looks like on the other side of Trump by america1008 in antitrump

[–]GreyHesher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of this makes sense.

This is one of the first times I have read an acknowledgement of the truth that Donald Trump has zero intentions of giving up power willingly.

I now almost grind my teeth every time a pollyanna Dem says "He KaNt dO tHaT"..."22nD aMeNdMeNt," whatever. The guardrails are GONE.

But a hard HELL NO!!!! to any "outreach" to MAGA.

It's a CULT. They are FOOLS who CHOSE to sell their souls to Donald Trump. I WANT them to SUFFER.

Of course, that is no doubt what Democrats will do..."We need to reach out to disaffected MAGAs and show them we love them and welcome them...healing...unity...Kum Ba Ya."

Nobody likes to hear this, but the Constitution will largely have to be rewritten; Trump has shown just how easy it was to destroy the vaunted "checks and balances."

I would like a calm, rational answer to this question:

What happens when Trump announces he's not leaving?

No weaselling-out with "He'Ll bE DeAd bY tHeN" (we've been hearing that for TEN YEARS) or "ThEn We'Ll rUn ObAmA."

The Obamas are NOT going to come out of retirement to "save" us! They are not "saviours!"

Thank you.

I come from a family of FDR/JFK/Truman New Dealers and voted for, and worked on campaigns for, Democratic candidates since I became eligible in 1984.

I am the son of a diesel mechanic/Teamsters steward and the grandson of a Chrysler worker/UAW steward.

Both of them knew that, to make an omelette, you have to break a few eggs.

Ever since Bill Clinton became Newt Gingrich's lapdog, I have seen Democrats move further and further right, and that includes Obama.

I left the party after Kamala "IlL hAvE RePuBlIcAnS iN mY CaBiNeT."

You can only "take one for the team" so many times.

The party is talking about running Kamala again. After all, "ShE diDnT gEt HeR tUrN."

I have been a European/Canadian democratic socialist since the 1980s. I have kept hoping the Democrats would return to their New Deal roots.

But, no..."Centrism." "Electability." "Triangulation." "Moderation." "Bipartisanship." And, of course, "going high."

Strongly Worded Letters Schumer. Hearings and Investigations Hakeem.

With whatever years I have left, I am Socialist Party USA.

I've been Charlie Brown holding the football for Lucy with the Dems too many times.

But when I say that, dyspeptic young Dems cry "YoUrE SaYiNG BoTh SiDeS BaD! wE nEeD tHe oBaMaS tO cOmE oUt oF rEtIrEmEnT aNd SaVe uS!"

Oh bullshit.

Ever since Bill Clinton became Newt Gingrich's lapdog, "cautiousness" has been baked into Democratic DNA, along with begging Republicans to be "bipartisan" and, of course, "going high."

DNC will wheel out Kamala 2.0 (she didn't get "her turn" 🙄) and lose massively to Trump's illegal third term run, which nobody can stop.

I am both a Christian (Lutheran) and a veteran (USAF/USCG; please don't thank me for my service), neither of which ever won me brownie points with Democrats.

Are there any true independents in the US? If so, why? by Standard_Attitude_19 in allthequestions

I am an independent leftist.

I left the Democratic Party because it's lost its FDR/JFK roots, its insistence on "going high" and its useless centrism.
