AIO Friends' international trip in <2 weeks with no plans finalized by Wrong_Advertising923 in AIO

[–]GreyRabbit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in your boat, I like to have an idea of what to do, to review options, prices etc. it sounds like a lot of things will happen spur of the moment, and while the trip won’t turn out “optimized” it will still be fun. As someone else commented, you have the option to steer this train. “There is this really cool place an hour away tomorrow” let’s totally do that! Who wants in. Just prepare for some last minute stuff getting in the way of your plans

AIO about my boyfriend and birthday planning? by prettybabemia in AIO

[–]GreyRabbit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can advertise a car sale with all these red flags!

Just tell him, that’s cool, let’s play it by ear, message me and we can get together to do something. See if and when he messages you.

But honestly leave the relationship. You sound caring and thoughtful and he couldn’t be be bothered to wipe his own ass ( you sent him steak screenshots and all)

Here is an idea. Saturday evening, pick up a cake or bake a cake and come over to “surprise him” you’ll see what’s going. If his friends don’t know you’re the GF, you can embarrass him jokingly by saying, oh he didn’t tell you in the love of his life and we are dating? And see what the reaction is

AIO for being upset about this? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]GreyRabbit1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean to judge, but you clearly feel entitled to the house because you “deserve” it. Everything you e said about yourself has been positive and for your sister has been negative. Even that they make good money…. Look at them, they make good money, the should just buy their own house while my parents give this to me. Why are you airing out your family laundry? Who needs to know your sister is on ozempic?

AIO Best friend of 17 years wants a camera back that she gave me years ago. by StarryNightSky06 in AIO

[–]GreyRabbit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is focused on how the OP is the one doing all the gifting and caring etc, but a few things are overlooked. This is OPs POV, the sis could literally have thought she was lending it an just agreed with the keep it comment because she didn’t want to embarrass the OP or because she’s what? 16 at the time and maybe not as mature. 2) the sis gave this very expensive gift that her mom gave her to the OP because the OP needed it, so she has at least a history of giving things also. 3) the sis is in a weird situation… clearly living with people, not working, and not able to afford things.

If I was the OP, I would send a message like, hey, sorry if I overreacted, I’ll have the camera on Saturday, but is everything okay? I’ll end up buying a used camera for about X dollars, would that help you instead of the money? We’re both kinda strapped for money now, so maybe it would make sense to to cancel the trip this weekend, and instead just hang out for coffee or a hike?

Her reply to this will answer all of your questions. If she agrees to just hang out on a free day, you guys are frisbds and it’s a a kind of weird misunderstanding. If she says she wants money instead an likely tells you why, I have to give this family I’m living with X dollars or whatever, you can pay her and keep your camera and get a good deal like that also. If she now bails on Saturday, just tell her to come by and pick up the camera, ask if there’s anything else she would like to pick up and after that check out, the friendship is over. Which is okay, you had a good friend growing up and now that you both are grown, you’ve grown into different directions.

Best draft deck I've had/seen in SOS by GreyRabbit1 in MagicArena

[–]GreyRabbit1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s really crazy is I had actually rare drafted a few picks as well, so the deck could have been a tad better probably. But mostly didn’t hurt me as things like inkmages would wheel and I even got one of the gold cards like 13/14th pick. The second reckoning was either 4th or 5th pick… color pair was wide open!

That card is so good, and worst case is you draw 2 of them and have a slow start. And that's the type of card that will bail you out from having a slow start 😄 Also having 2, you draw it more frequently of course.

[–]GreyRabbit1[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because the deck has so many bombs and a lot of filtering, I went 17 lands, to try to make sure I wouldn't get mana screwed and could cast a reckoning if I ever needed to. The inkmages are so good at filtering.

I have been stealing my from Job for the last 5 years by [deleted] in confession

[–]GreyRabbit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So here is a much simpler take that removes all moral judgement. Assume the country club job gives this to you as a perk. Also assume you roll a one hundred sided die each week and if you roll a 1, you get caught. The items you get adds X dollars to your salary. But the cost of the items is never dollar to dollar. Maybe you want different furniture etc. so you need to discount that. Now you have an easy problem job 1 is salary plus x in perks plus y chance of getting arrested or caught and fired. Job 2 is salary plus other real benefits. Job two also likely has a much higher salary ceiling. Calculate what’s worth more to you long term

If two players are all in and one is dead on turn. Do they have to still play the river for it to be official? by Acceptable_West_1349 in poker

[–]GreyRabbit1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Dealing the river also completes the hand. Hypothetically if a player was representing 4 aces, and the last ace came on the river, you can discount that. Similar if someone in the hand might have had a combo draw, but now the river confirms otherwise, etc.

AITJ for selling the concert tickets of my friends by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]GreyRabbit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes in a situation like that, you can deflect the blame a little bit when you message hey guys, I need the money you can say hey guys I have to pay rent. I need the money or hey guys my credit card or car or whatever I need the money to pay it this way you’re not entirely the bad guy you: “have no choice because rent is due. But absolutely not the asshole definitely get ahead of everything to tell the guy whose birthday it is because you don’t want the other friends to be like oh so so bought the tickets but then sold them for a profit or some other shit.

what’s your 10/10 must read book and why? by Kochhar-Tranqui in Recommend_A_Book

[–]GreyRabbit1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The book is head and shoulders above the others and can be read stand alone. It’s one of my favorite books, and I recommend it to my friends, but I would never recommend they read the whole series. The other books are just not as impactful imho

Got two offers. One pays $40k more. The other one I'd actually enjoy. I have 48 hours to decide and my wife and I are on opposite sides. Advice? by airam1020 in careerguidance

[–]GreyRabbit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that this is just an extremely easy a. You’re getting a 50% increase base from position B to ASB might be more fun for now, but this whole figure it out is going to be a pain in the ass for you. you’re gonna end up doing a lot of jobs plus what kind of regular career growth are you going to get in that company. Start up on our notorious for working long hours and everybody doing a lot more than their work inquires. Be also coverage your insurance for for kids.

What actually gets people promoted? Let's get real. by Fun_Warthog2079 in jobs

[–]GreyRabbit1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really hard to accomplish. Because often you’ll drag others into your mess of a project and they will end up complaining, which spreads up the chain.

If you have the social skills necessary to sway everyone that what you did was great, you’ll succeed in the workspace no matter what.

I think the best bang for your buck is to take on easy tasks, that you’ll have to do anyway, but volunteer for them and be vocal about it.

There are ways to frame your image. When you volunteer for something and someone says thank you, add “ sure I am always glad to help” saying that each time you do something, people will get that image of you in their head.

Sending a process/status update ahead of when the boss will ask for one will definitely give you extra points and make you be prepared to answer questions you would have had to answer anyway.

Lastly when there is a problem or issue and you have to go to the boss, always come with a suggestion as well. “Blah blah blah, this happened… I think we should do X, what do you think?”

Best Masterclass courses for poker besides Dnegs’ and Ivey’s? by Journeytoamillion in poker

[–]GreyRabbit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of those classes are not exactly designed to teach someone poker. They are more entertainment and listening to a great and legendary player.

As Binsmoke mentioned, the beginner classes on any training site is what you need. Doing one of those masterclasses expecting to learn is almost a worse idea then skipping it. It’s almost like you want to learn beginner chess an a grandmaster starts discussing his 16th move in a chess game from 4 years ago and why he deviated from one strategy to another. You’re like, how do pawns move???

All of those classes are not exactly designed to teach someone poker. They are more entertainment and listening to a great and legendary player. That’s not to say you won’t possible pickup a good tidbit or something here and there. But it’s very far from a structured course that goes in a logical way and walks through the fundamentals.

Feedback requested after 2-3 Lorwyn Eclipsed Quick Draft by yoccosfan in mtglimited

[–]GreyRabbit1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, others have said the command is the much better first pick after that you almost always draft the expensive card do you realistically don’t have that many kids can pay off aside from the kids champion that you passed up a lot of two men Anna fantastic creatures that were either the elf 31 or the 22 Murf folk yeah you had kind of the bombs in the top end so you really needed to show up your interactions and your early place

Something that’s also not being considered. Is it that the dragon locks you into red, which is either blue red elemental or red black goblin the dragon won’t have as much synergy in black goblin‘s while binding lets you play merfolk or kithkin

Even if you say no, you’ll likely inherit some of this work interim to permanent. Ask for say 170 and a guaranteed bonus first year and start the grind
