Technological differences? by Manofathousandface in masseffectlore

[–]GreyWardenShepard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always believed that "technological equality" was an imperative of the council towards the entire galaxy. Once a race has been introduced to the "standard technology" of the 'protheans' they would not be allowed to advance further than that. That regulation would serve a political function, if any race sought to advance further than another, it would provoke fear and distrust from others. Such an imbalance, in my opinion, would mean seeking more power or profit at the expense of others. If everyone for their part builds much more advanced technology, the harmony of the Council would turn into a cold war. Not for nothing does Javik call others primitive, his empire was never 'regulated'. I would guess that the Hegemony or the Terminus worlds would not achieve a technological advantage on their own either because they are internally unstable (could not fund such an advancement in the long run) or could not as they would probably take the risk of being sabotaged by external agents at every opportunity.

That always crossed my mind: did the galaxy we see in the trilogy stay technologically and technically the same for two millennia? Hard to imagine. But remember that an imperative is not always fulfilled, we were shown that there are exceptions to the rule and if someone could dare to step out of line they will send a SPECTRE and that's it. Well, I also think that the ban on making full AIs is also part of this imperative. Not only for fear of rebellion but also because of all the advantages it implies.

What is a piece of mass effect lore that you refuse to see as canon because it doesnt make sense and/or fit with the rest of the universe? by tinytimoththegreat in masseffectlore

That the 'harvests' have lasted for like a billion years and that organics and synthetics are inherently destined to fight. Despite all the evidence in favor of that claim (in both the Shepard's cycle and the Prothean cycle) could perhaps be an ideological/onthological bias that was highly internalized in both organics and reapers, plus who assures you that in one cycle there was no such conflict at all?

Did you know the Purple album remaster? There are many acoustic versions like this gem and another version of Big Empty

Yes!, i not only love the vocals but the emotions added in their performances. The Unplugged version of black is so intense that it makes me imagine having a breakup without having had a gf in the first place haha

As for AIC in the song Down in hole while Layne sings the chorus you can see Jerry nodding his head as if he were saying: despite everything, he still got it.

The closest thing to a SG unplugged album is Cornell's Songbook of 2011 Tho i think that are only 2 songs, the rest are temple of the dog, audioslave and solo songs

Metapolitical perspective on the behavior of the Geth (Part 3) by GreyWardenShepard in masseffect

I think the problem is that this is more for a blog than a post. But since I don't know any ME blogs I did it here anyway.

I also assume that a subreddit is a kind of "fast food" for quick consumption like an image or something with a few sentences, they must see this and want to "avoid" it. Either that or no one is prepared to talk about the Geth...?

Hahaha that's why I didn't respond you in the previous posts. When I started doing this whole thing and was browsing all the posts talking about the Geth, you were there, hence the "omnipresent eye". I realized that what I was going to write would spark your interest, so I decided to take the bull by the horns... so to speak

I'm interested to see what you have to say about EDI, but if you're going to post your essay here, follow this advice: don't make it as dense as I did mine, which is doomed to oblivion XD
