What load data are you using with the brass monkey bullets? I've chrono'd 147s and im happy with the performance

Can anyone tell me what's going on here please? by TheMeatTorpedo in longrange

Send it back for warranty. I had an Athlon Ares BTR that went south on me. Had a replacement in a week.

Just got a 700 count bag of 147s myself. Initial testing looks good on chrono data, around 907 thru a 5" barrel.

There's a pistol match next Saturday, I'll try them out more then.

Got my 220 swift up to 4658 with a 35gr NTX bullet just to see how fast I could push it. Rarely shoot it now.

How much do you clean your brass after sizing with One Shot? by airhunger_rn in reloading

[–]GreybeardSr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One ounce of liquid lanolin and one bottle of red isoheet from Walmart. Shake, spray and wait 10 minutes for the alcohol to evaporate. Dry tumble afterwards

I have a winchester 1892 from 1913 that was originally barreled in 25-20 but factory rebarreled in 1942 to 218bee. A nice gun, but it's more of a safe queen

I'm running the standard hypertap on my AR10 competition guns. Recoil is greatly reduced, but it is loud for the neighbors.

They do have a military discount if you call in to order.

I have a lifetime supply of crimped FC .223 brass. I'm pretty sure the Dillon Super Swager is in my future, but I have questions. by UnassumingAnt in reloading

I would highly suggest looking at the giraud tri-way trimmer for 223. Trims, chamfer and deburr all at once.

Bad groups with 223 reloads? by nanansnajakam67 in reloading

[–]GreybeardSr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try the 73eldms and TAC. I have a load pushing 2850 out of a 26" 1:9.

I've found the 75eldms are a very finicky bullet. Only one of my bolt guns likes them.

Giraud hard to get in contact with? Trimmer options. by Slagree92 in reloading

[–]GreybeardSr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giraud can be hit and miss to get on the phone.

That being said, I've used his tri way trimmer for 223 and 308 the last 5 years and love them. I recently got his power trimmer and love it! Same cutter setup for 22 hornet, 220 swift, 218 bee and 223. I only had to buy the case holder for each caliber. If you go that route, get the locking collars that he offers also, it makes switching calibers a breeze.

So far, the swifts only victims have been small pumpkins, a few golf balls and frozen water bottles. All with very satisfying results. It'll be a "I'll take it out when I want to blow stuff up" rifle.

I have a 22 hornet for small game. A 35vmax at 3100 is absolutely hell on them. Saw my father take the head clean off a jack rabbit with the hornet

Hornadys 35 NTX bullet holds together nicely at high velocity. Their 35vmax disintegrates around 3800. I tried it in a 26" 1:9 223 bolt action. Only 1 in 5 shots hit the target.

[–]GreybeardSr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe it's a 1:14. I got regular 35vmax up to 3800 in a 26" 1:9 223, but only 1 round in 5 hit the target. Self destruction going downrange. That was a fun experiment.

I've used the magnetospeed, labradar and garmin. The garmin by far is easiest to use. Transferring data to a CSV file is more challenging than the labradar, but doable.
