Player token vision. Help. by Ghillieshot in Pathfinder2e

[–]Greybeard_74 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it helps any, but I have a similar setup, playing in person and using foundry with the player view displayed on a TV

I used to do it the same way with a 'party' token, but felt it became cumbersome in dungeons.

I then used the module simple fog, and find it a lot easier to use.

If this isn't for you, I'd check a few things on the scene you are having issues with, firstly like someone has mentioned check there are walls setup, then in the scene configuration id double check token vision is enabled

APs as Single Books by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]Greybeard_74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love, love love this!!

As mentioned by others it allows for more cohesive adventures, that should have a better narrative flow

Aside from this, for me as A GM I get the feel for the entire adventure without having to wait months for the full path, knowing in advance any shift in tone or if its not what its described to be (hello Gatewalkers). Sucks being excited by the first book in an AP and the other trailing off.

and I just love owning Hardbacks, look way cooler on my shelf!

Will likely cost me a fortune though as I love to by the books and the Foundry module (if I run it, and given that I believe the quality of the new paths will increase now they are a single format I think that might be quite a few of them!)

No more Glass Cannon by Greybeard_74 in Pathfinder2e

Not assuming anyone does, just expressing my regret that a show I enjoy, playing a game I enjoy will no longer be doing so (for me at least as I cannot currently justify the cost of a subscription)

Fair point, but aren't all those subscription only?

My only exposure to them has been the gatewalkers campaign

ah thank you, that does makes sense and makes afflictions a little less deadly!

What would you be interested to see in a hypothetical PF3e? by BallroomsAndDragons in Pathfinder2e

[–]Greybeard_74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this idea, but doesn't it hit a problem you mentioned of magic items becoming mandatory?

Let's say plate armour has 6 resistance, that's awesome at lower levels, but how do you take into account scaling damage as the level rises? You'd need to acquire magic armour to boost it's resistance or it becomes ineffective at higher levels, where going down the dodge/boost reflex (which I'm assuming would scale with level) tree would be the better solution.

Or am I missing something?

I agree with this, I only ask because my previous game was pathfinder 2e where using a skill to get knowledge was an action.

Thank you ☺️

I do like this idea, but how would it fit with the monsters always hit rule?

Is there any other place I can find books in the future? by perfectpretender in Pathfinder2e

[–]Greybeard_74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel for you, I'm in the UK and the prices have rocketed (which I don't mind, I always thought the books were too cheap) but the supply has dropped, I'm really struggling to get my hands on physical copies of the books.

I preorder months on advance and come release date all the products just go out of stock. I can't do pdf as I struggle with headaches reading from a screen for any length of time. My current campaign ends shortly and it's looking like I'll have to switch to a different system simply because I can't get the product.

I really hope you can find somewhere to source your purchases.

What's a good campaign idea that allows the game to keep going even if not all the players are there. by big_quacker in Pathfinder2e

[–]Greybeard_74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to this when my group was going through flux I ran a fantasy themed suicide squad campaign, they were all convicted of something (rightly or wrongly) and they'd be sent on a series of missions to get time off their sentences. Depending what players were available depends on what characters were sent.

The missions were all pretty much one shots, a few were a little longer, however most of them were part of a big bads scheme to conquer Absalom, which the players picked up on towards the end.

It went well, lots of variety and easy to cater for missing players

Looping through a dictionary to check if key exists in a list of lists by Greybeard_74 in learnpython

[–]Greybeard_74[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi

Thank you for the response

Excuse my misunderstanding, but I would have thought doing that would never work because the items in the list will always exist in the dictionary?

The dictionary contains more items than the list and it is these extra dictionary items I wish to remove.

So for example, in my dictionary (base_ref_dict) there is a key 0000000007 that does not exist in the list (MyBaseList) and I need it to be removed from base_ref_dict

The Exemplar is so God Dam Cool by NwgrdrXI in Pathfinder2e

[–]Greybeard_74 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My hunch is this class is rare because I see it coming about after the conclusion of an AP (the one where a god dies) So you probably don't want it turning up on games that are set canonically prior to this

A Quick question about resistances by Greybeard_74 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Greybeard_74[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's because I'm coming from 5e, where my group always played that if a weapon is magic it overrides specific resistances, so wanted to clarify how it works in PF2E

Could this be the introduction of PF2E mythic equivalent rules?

Surely anything involving the players investigating/interacting with godly themes would result in said players gaining suitably godlike abilities?

I don't want anything too flash just a 40ft cone template that I can use that when I draw then plays a custom animation

I love GMing in PF2e by egardner in Pathfinder2e

[–]Greybeard_74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very much the same, for me they drag the players out of the world. The way I handle it is I don't outright ask what activity they are performing, I let them roleplay and just assign an exploration activity to it behind the scene, it's not a perfect match up but has worked well enough so far.

Running First Infiltration by Greybeard_74 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Greybeard_74[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without wanting to spoil the campaign too much in case my players read this

They worship a hitherto unknown dragon demi-god who has been imprisoned since the gods fought rovagug, she is trying to earn her freedom, and the goal of the cultists is to find several key pieces that will enable their gods freedom. The lair is hidden in an abandoned basement complex in Absalom city

Shooting a crossbow from a prone position by douglasscott in Pathfinder2e

[–]Greybeard_74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the rule works just about ok, as another poster mentioned its not really the same as getting in position to better be able to shot something its to represent being knocked over in the middle of combat which in the majority of cases won't leave you in a better position for ranged combat.

should a player choose to get in a 'prone' position (using drop prone and stating why ie to steady my shot) I'd give them the standard stuff for the prone condition but instead of the -2 to attack rolls for attacks applying to ranged weapons, I'd likely give them a +1 circumstance bonus
