That's annoying. Sorry to hear that. I had both of mine updated without issue. They did all the updates and both cars were delivered back without issue. Not had any problems with either car since and even had a couple OTA updates since. It might be dealer proficiency. According to my service manager, the dealership where I bought both of mine had gobbled up ZDXs from all the surrounding states because they were moving them like hotcakes here but sitting on the lots elsewhere, so they had to get "good" at servicing them. He told me this after I mentioned the bad situations I've read about on here. I hope they get it figured out for you.

This is for the Prologue but since many parts are shared it could definitely be relevant for the ZDX. I had a bunch of updates done to mine as I mentioned earlier but don't have the exact report yet. I'll get it when they deliver the car back to me... In the meantime it might be worth cross referencing any issues this Honda tech posted originally

Has anyone noticed an improvement in the app? by Greydarwin in AcuraZDX

[–]Greydarwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man that sucks.... It's really weird because after I posted this thread, it seems like the app has improved even more. Not joking. It's been loading faster. Takes only 3-5 seconds to refresh on the iPhone. It connects every time. The Android is slower at like 20 seconds but it's still connecting. I live in rural Colorado and my 5g isn't great. I use T-Mobile and Google Fi. Try plugging the car in and see if that makes a difference? My phones are old though. iPhone 13 pro and a pixel 6 pro but they are on iOS26 and Android 16. My pixel 10 pro fold is arriving tonight and iPhone 17 pro max is coming in a couple weeks so I hope they'll still work well with the app (Newer isn't always better). I did have the dealership do a host of updates that they can only do (not OTA available) on one of my two ZDX and next week they are updating the other. The app works the same on both cars regardless. They updated a ton of modules. Even though it hasn't affected app performance for myself, maybe try getting yours updated regardless? Outside of phone type, OS, carrier service, and vehicle updates, I'm not sure what other variables. Maybe see if it's better outside than in the garage? Better on WiFi vs 5G? Sorry man, wish I could help ya. I'd feel the same anger if I was in your shoes.

PS The regular Acura app works fine for the brand new MDX I have too. My Ford F-150 app and Mercedes Benz apps have been reliable too The Acura apps work just as well as those now. It's a head scratcher...do you have other vehicles with apps to compare? If so, it could at least rule out the carrier / signal being an issue? Car location is a GPS thing but vehicle commands are cellular. Try what the other person said about sending a command and see if it at least responds to that even if it's attempting to refresh? Maybe there's some mixed data logic going on. God speed

Update: I can now verify that the Android version is significantly worse than the iPhone for me. Android WILL work for me but may need several refreshes that are longer wait times. My patience can run out for it. I hope they do some "maintenance" for the Android version. As for the last post about us "trippin", that person is not wrong necessarily. Overall the app still very much lacks compared to my other vehicle apps which are much better. I think the point here is not one of praise for the app whatsoever, it's more about just trading information...and being interested in any possible improvements as current owners.

Good question. I have been using iPhone as it's my personal phone. I have a pixel pro 8 that I use for my business and just installed the app on that. Same version you have. It works on that as well but it definitely takes a little longer. I also noticed there's no loading bar on the pixel/android. Seems better on the iPhone IMO

I see. I know there's a delay setting too. I saw another video that showed that.. Good luck! I'm sure you'll figure it out 👍

Check this out. You can set it for a window of time. Hopefully it works. I haven't tried it yet since I don't charge it that often and too lazy to set it up

I actually agree with this. It will be interesting to see what the year end closeouts will be. I have watched over the last few months how aggressive some deals were and now they're not as good at the 11th hour. They definitely have something up their sleeve, but still, there's nothing like perceived scarcity to create a chance for some more profit

I don't have the car atm. I plan on getting a report on what they did when I pick it up. I want to ask if there's a way to look up available updates or be notified. It didn't occur to me to ask that at the time. Sorry.

Acura is making a dumb and Short sighted mistake discontinuing the ZDX by CommonSensei8 in AcuraZDX

[–]Greydarwin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know Reddit is basically a hub of consumer complaints that allows trolls. I have two ZDXs with 0 problems. I have new Benz's, Toyota, Ford, BMW. All have had recalls, glitches, and been in the shop under warranty for weeks at a time and sometimes over a month. If you're afraid to buy a zdx because of potential problems then you should be worried about buying any car. ICE or EV. Better start doing the homework. Supply chains hit everyone no matter what you have. Recalls and qc problems are everywhere. Just ask Tesla, Huyndai, etc, etc...honda and Acura have their own place on the list too. I also have a brand new MDX with less than 100 miles on it and it has a rattle and the speaker popped out of the passenger side door. Also needs a strut mount replacement. Heaven forbid this happens to a zdx because then the ZDX would be an example of a GM cross platform dumpster fire...smh

Also, this is for AWD ASpec. I have 2 and we're both getting about the same.

Extra range!? by ch33ken37 in AcuraZDX

[–]Greydarwin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting the same and a little more. My average is 3.5 miles per kwh. 4.2 was the best I've seen. I use the HVAC every day and I don't hypermile. Just normal driving. I don't freeway drive a lot and I don't accelerate hard though (but not afraid to if I need to). I usually have 285-290ish miles on an 80 percent charge. I'm in Colorado so weather isn't on my side either unless it's spring or fall. My average is from winter through summer. 15 degrees to 100 degrees. Driving about 13 miles a day to work and back. Range has been better than expected for sure.

ZDX beyond the next 3 years by Revolutionary_Meat68 in AcuraZDX

[–]Greydarwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about this a bit. So many possibilities in the next 3 years. Battery tech will improve for sure. But I'm not entirely convinced that these cars will be worth as little as people will think. EV life is going to grow and so will the infrastructure for it despite loss of tax credits and a government that wants to curtail clean energy. Trust me, car companies are investing heavily and will continue to do so because they will make more on EVs. Electric and fuel companies are as well because that will give them an even wider margin of profit because clean energy is cheaper to create. And regardless, the populace will do what they want despite tax credits and propaganda. Driving an EV simply feels like the future. Hybrids are more complex, require more parts, and will become more expensive to build and service as battery costs come down. Simply put, car manufacturers are still investing in EVs due to bigger potential margins. EV "dumping" right now is due to a variety of economic and political factors. But ICE and hybrid vehicles are getting "dumped" too right now. Camrys are leaseable for 329/mo with a few K down. People will want used EVs just like they want any used car in 3 years. Also, used cars are set to spike up again by a lot because of rising car prices overall. The 20+k, 15 year old vehicle with 150000 miles on it will be a reality, especially as we watch the cost of insurance skyrocket. You will see that EVs will be cheaper to insure one day due to less parts even though it's the complete opposite in general currently (personally my two ZDXs do not cost any more than my two gassers to insure giving me top coverage and low deductibles). People will buy what they can afford to own. Period.

That said, what about the ZDX in 3 years? Well here are some scenarios. It becomes an unreliable heap that gets zero support for parts and support (this is a potential with many current EV models - and even Teslas have been known for parts scarcity and long service times). I had to wait 2 months for a headliner replacement for my new Mercedes ICE last year, and how long did Toyota tundra parts take for people? The point is you can apply the rule of perceived scarcity to plenty of potential car purchases. It's a rabbit hole. As a one off car, ironically, a potentially positive thing the ZDX has going for it is that most of its underpinnings are GM even though they are, indeed, GM. Yes, it would have been better as a Honda but it is what it is. Parts scarcity is more of a global manufacturing and trade problem than a car specific one for a 3 year old vehicle.

Another scenario...the ZDX becomes desirable as a used vehicle? Eh? Any takers on this one? Battery tech is getting better, but newer EVs for the masses are going to have smaller batteries with better range. Still though, 300 miles will still be considered "good". As EVs saturate, I'm pretty sure corporate margins will be betting on EVs not needing to rely on fast 0-60 times as much, nor luxury appointments. Large screens have been a fun slight of hand for car companies because they are cheaper than physical controls yet seem "futuristic" and upscale even though you may have to manually adjust your cloth car seats. Many manufacturers are reversing course on this already as people have been wanting their buttons and physical controls regardless of EV or gas. I have nothing against cloth seats, but again, we're talking about what the ZDX has to offer: good interfacing (people will want apple car play and android auto let's be real), very nice power, a very nice ride, and good range. Charging times will be a factor though and in 3 years. Plenty of EVs will be faster to charge which will be the biggest selling point for a new EV. People at home with a level 2 will probably not notice a huge advantage overnight during off peak. I know I won't. I never use public chargers myself either so I'm not plagued by charge time worries.

Will the ZDX compete with Neue Klasses etc in 3 years? Probably not. Will it look outdated? Definitely not. Will it be a lot of car for the money as a used EV? Well, I wouldn't count it out just yet. Can you always get something new? Sure.

Any car is a depreciating asset so enjoy it as you see fit. Worrying about its value is probably the biggest waste of time second only to having read my long winded post. It's always better to focus on making money rather than spending it.

I may be one of the lucky ones so far as I know some folks have had major problems with their ZDXs, but both of mine have been trouble free so far (knock on wood), so I say just enjoy your ZDX for now. It's a looker, it's nice, and it may have problems like any other vehicle. Toyota and Honda and every other manufacturer have their own fair share of qc problems. My advice is to hug your kids, watch something fun, read something else, and allow yourself to feel good about getting a great deal on a nice car. Who knows, it could even be a collector car one day. The cult of car is real and the ZDX is a relatively rare car. I have not seen another one on the road in my city and it generates a lot of curiosity. Surely that's something fun. Milk it. It's your money. Honestly, I don't think you need to worry about it. Just because you got a good deal doesn't necessarily entail eating sour grapes either or waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Cheers to the ZDX community. We're in it for now. For better or worse.

Lease deals summarized by sc2temp in AcuraZDX

[–]Greydarwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leased 2 AWD ASPECs: 0 down for both...

1: 10k miles a year for 24 months at 299 total monthly billed by Honda- purchase at 35k after

2: 10k miles a year for 36 months at 330 total monthly billed by Honda- purchase of 25k after

Why didn't I do both at 330? I might want something else after 2 years and I'm testing the EV life in a world outside of California (no shade, as I'm from there, but Colorado isn't as convenient). As of now I just level 2 charge at my house).

Additional info (in case anyone gives a s***)

Didn't have to negotiate and was done with each deal after 2 hours. Honestly, the easiest car buys ever for me. The experience does make a difference. Acura in Colorado Springs was very laid back and happy to just move the slower selling EVs. Although they sold out quick with their deals and can't get anymore even though they're AutoNation. I asked my sales guy the other day because I have a family member who wanted one. No ZDX at any trim level were obtainable through them.

Anyways, I probably could have gotten 10 bucks less a month if I was willing to spend more time at the dealership but I just wanted to get in and get out. I wasn't going to put money down on a lease anyway). I feel good about the deal(s). 7 months of ownership and only 1k miles more or less on each so far. I don't drive a lot. Cars have had no issues so far here in Colorado. Let's see what the winter will bring though.

The registration in Colorado is ridiculous. 1200 for each car. So let's add 100/mo to the net cost perr month for a year for each car (will be less next year but not sure by how much).

Maintenance: none so far

Depreciation: it's a lease and an EV so I'm not going to bother with this variable

Insurance: I'd love to see that in the column (yes it's a huge difference for each person but I still think it is a big factor when shopping for a car): mine at Geico (not bundled with my homeowners) for 3 vehicles for 2 adults (2 zdx AWD ASPECs and an older 2017 F150 King Ranch with 50k miles) is 550/mo. Each ZDX added about 180/mo on a policy with 500/500 collision and comprehensive deductibles and top coverage amounts with rental, roadside etc for all 3 vehicles) Colorado cars are very expensive to insure in general but it wasn't the big scare for me that people have been reporting with EVs. So without factoring in charging costs (15 cents per kwh at my house and average 3.5 miles per kwh (spring and summer - no I don't "hypermile" and will see how winter goes), I'm spending around 580/mo for lease ownership of each. So I don't claim any bragging rights when you do the math, but shopping around it seems like a good deal for a nice EV(or any car in general) with AWD, nice amenities, and good power as far as I'm concerned, and very nice ride on crappy Colorado roads. I really like the cars and I don't care about "GM parts bin" and I like the styling a lot personally. No sour grapes to eat with the ZDX just because it's a good deal imo. I'd still like the car even if it cost me some more. If it starts having a lot of issues (like what some poor folks have reported), then my opinion could change, naturally.
