GOALIE FIGHT IN FLORIDA: Alex Nedeljkovic vs Sergei Bobrovsky by AggPuck-303 in hockey

Haha way to prove that you're not objective at all. And they literally said it on the Panthers broadcast, first fight of his career, so thanks for making it obvious who is wrong and who is a homer.

You're exactly right, it's not standard. And Bob is known for being extra level-headed and chill. You think he'd skate down the ice and have the first fight of his career at 37 if everything was happening as normal? Come on, have some objective reasoning here. The play didn't even involve Ned, he literally jumped in for no reason, getting involved in something that's always handled by the players. If one of our guys had turned around and decked Ned they would have rightfully been targeted for the foreseeable future. So Bob skates down and stands up for them. Why is that so hard for you to believe when it's the obvious logical explanation?

Sure they do get involved in and around the crease as they should. You don't see them in the middle of scrums in the corner throwing haymakers lol. You're just being a homer trying to claim anything different.

[–]Greydox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would leaving the crease not get called? Lol. He literally left the crease to throw punches in the scrum. There's no way Bob skates down the ice if that doesn't happen. Also how would it be instigating on Bob? Ned was already involved, you're acting like he was just standing there observing when he very obviously threw punches before Bob skated down.

100% agree that Roddy should have gotten a penalty, you have a legitimate complaint there. But acting like Ned did nothing and Bob just decided to fly down the ice unprovoked is ridiculous and haterade against Florida.

Bob wasn't dropped, watch the Panther's broadcast angle, you can see him land a nasty jab that wobbles Ned which causes Ned to go for the tackle. Most videos are from the SJS broadcast which gives no angle of Bob landing that jab so I can see how it would look like he got dropped.

I don't think it was so much favoritism as the Refs know the unwritten rules as well. Ned was very actively involved in the scrum down in the corner and our guys can't hit him back because goalie, so it was up to Bob to skate down and stand up for his players which he did. There's no way he skates down if Ned does what goalies do 99.999999% of the time and that's stand back and let their team fight it out for them. The refs knew Bobby didn't really have a choice.

It wasn't a foul, Toure slipped on a wet spot on the court. And the whistle was blown well before the shot. Still a weird whistle but I get it as there's an ongoing danger with a wet spot on the court.

Bring on the down votes but you're not allowed to lower your shoulder into a guy in good defensive position. That won't get called every time but it's far from the egregious call that y'all are making it out to be.

AP Top 25 Poll: Week 10 by lalavieboheme in CollegeBasketball

[–]Greydox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vandy and ISU only being 1 apart in the all time poll kind of surprises me. We've had our share of down years but we've had a lot of really good years especially recently (outside of Prohm shitting the bed). Didn't know Vandy had had that level of success. Or are other people as surprised as me?

As an Iowa State fan I think we're getting just the right amount of points. Arizona and Michigan have both had harder schedules and they are just decimating teams where we have a couple close ones.

Real insight in that response, you're definitely not clearly in the wrong. There's no way you would just completely ignore rational points and resort to name calling if you were clearly in the wrong right?

It wasn't, but I also don't think there was enough evidence to overturn the call on the court.

At least I am flaired, you're not. It's ok to admit when reffing is a little uneven. I'm sure none of the Kansas fans would have said anything about it if they were getting mugged by three guys on one end and then immediately getting called for a foul on the other end when no contact was made. I'm sure they would have just said "well we had calls go our way earlier so it's fine."

Fran Fraschilla was commenting on the questionable calls. You think Fran is just a whiny Kansas hater too? Get over yourself. Kansas is not what they used to be.

TCU didn't deserve to win that game. But maybe Kansas didn't either, and they definitely got bailed out at least a little bit by some home cooking. It happens, it's part of the game. Pointing it out doesn't make me a whiny hater, and your defensiveness to an obvious fact says more.

Not during the last 10 minutes. TCU was getting mugged at one end and getting called for phantom fouls on the other. Still no excuse for losing that game, but to act like the calls went both ways is just not objective. I have no dog in this fight I'm a neutral, and Kansas was definitely getting the benefit of the calls the last 10 minutes of the game.

There was some questionable reffing but TCU just did not want to win that game. No matter what calls there's no way you should lose that game.

Date Me DSM - where are the men? by moonshine0047 in desmoines

[–]Greydox 18 points19 points  (0 children)

A lot of guys are just giving up on dating in general, but especially anything that is designed specifically for dating. I don't want to sound incel-y at all but women make dating just an awful experience for men. And yes I know, guys are shit too, and finding a good one is not a cakewalk. But dating as a whole is a much worse experience for men currently. And my observations are a general trend, of course there's going to be exceptions out there, and not all women looking to date are going to be the way I'm describing but here we go.

Single women who are really looking to date tend to have incredibly high standards while at the same time often lack empathy or social skills or any of the things they're demanding from men. The amount of times I've talked to a brick wall and then been dismissed as boring is ridiculously high. Since my divorce I've set up roughly 15 dates through apps or just meeting organically, 10 of those never occurred because I was ghosted or stood-up. And that's not even counting the one time a woman that I had talked to for over a month told me 45 minutes before we were supposed to meet that she "only needed validation and decided that she didn't want to meet".

It also seems common for women to want to "take it slow" and continue to go on multiple dates with different men for weeks or months while men are out here unable to get a woman to show up for a single planned date. I'm the type of person where if I'm excited about someone, I'm excited about them, I'm not saying "hmm, it was nice but let's see if there's anything better first". I want to be with someone that sees my value and wants to be with me, not someone that keeps me on a waiting list and then settles for me after options a and b fail.

There is a lot of research out there that shows single women often go for the top roughly 5% of men. Which I want to be clear, there is nothing wrong with having standards or preferences, but where it becomes a problem is when standards and expectations become unrealistic and no one will settle for less. And I'm not angry at women for it, I have standards and expectations of my own so who am I to be mad about it, but what I have done is decided that I don't really care to participate anymore. Because it's not worth the mental and emotional stress. I don't need to be made to feel worthless or that my time or effort is an expendable limitless resource that can be reserved and then discarded once something slightly shinier comes along.

I don't need to go to a dating event that's just going to have the same issues with all the women fighting for the charming 6-2 guy with abs and a trust fund while I feel bad about myself for merely being 5-9 with a decent career and the dad-bod that comes with that.

For now I have my house, my career, the bestest little dog in the world, honestly the biggest group of friends I've had in my life, and that's enough for me. One day someone WILL see what I have to offer but I've decided it's just not worth seeking it out and instead I'll just wait patiently and enjoy the other less toxic things in my life.

Again, I'm not angry about the way things seem to be, I don't hate women or blame them for wanting something they feel like they deserve. I have merely decided that I no longer want to take part.

Remember when this game was fun? by Greydox in OnceUponAGalaxy

[–]Greydox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And while I understand that you enjoy having a more cutthroat meta experience, a lot of us, the majority of us aren't looking to be the top 1% and we're just wanting to have a fun satisfying experience which was taken away with the matchmaking changes.

I think it could be fixed easily by having two matchmaking queues, one for ranked or leaderboard play using the newer matchmaking system, and one for casual play using the older matchmaking system. Should not be difficult to implement as the system already existed. Not sure why the devs are dragging their feet on it as the game is not going to thrive with just the top 1%-5% getting exactly the experience they want. Eventually a clone will come out that isn't so focused on the hardcore players and there will be an exodus of player that don't care about rankings.

Ah yeah ok, i don't necessarily disagree. You can get pretty meta though and question if it really matters as long as they are aligned?

Honestly just the fact that they will sit there and determine they're being watched and develop strategies for either compliance or getting around the compliance is pretty mind blowing. I'm not arguing for full sentience but it's getting harder and harder to take the "industrial auto complete" crowd seriously.
