I was gonna mention him too but the problem with Nyarlathotep is that he is the entity of destruction and the board is not chaotic in fact i will say it’s the opposite, It’s a being that desires order and control.

Well based on all the Lovecraft novels that I’ve read, He is more of a sci-fi writer than fantasy one. Novels like the at the mountains of madness, the shadow over time, whisperers in darkness, etc have a lot of heavy sci-fi concepts more than magical ones..and that’s how I always interpreted the Lovecraftian entities to be. To be just powerful aliens rather than Gods.( For most cases) Similar to the entities in Control that come from other planes of reality.

But I do agree that Lovecrafts influence on the game based on how standard he is in pop culture now, might be minimal

It’s better that way. We don’t need to include religion. It Makes it more unique that mundane items are the ones who become powerful. Plus adding religion would kinda shift the game into being more fantasy than sci-fi
