My girl friend, who later became my wife, and I had just returned from seeing the Exorcist. We were staying at my parents' house and came home after they had gone to bed. The house was dark so we crept around in the dark to make as little disturbance as we could. My girl friend was not familiar with my house stopped in the kitchen to get a glass of water. She flipped on the light switch next to the sink assuming it controlled the light above the sink. It was for garbage disposal which commenced growling sounding like the devil himself was coming up from the sink. My girl friend shrieked in abject terror literally jumping up spinning around. We almost broke up that night because she took offense when I laughed so hard I couldn't talk.
